Key Components:

Sensor Installation - Return Air Temp Sensor

Install the air temp sensor using the air sensor mount approximately 2/3 down from the top of the evaporator, and 8-12 inches from the coil in the return air of the evaporator.

Color Coding Recommendation:

Sensor Installation - Coil Temp Sensors

IMPORTANT: Determine coil sensor locations by verifying where frost is last to disappear on the coil during a defrost cycle. Typically, this is on the air exiting side, near the edges, approximately 1" to 1-1/2" away from the sides, and within the top or bottom 1/3rd of the evaporator. Avoid installing sensors on U-bends or near heating elements.

To prevent sensor wire damage, insert the plug into the coil housing and puncture the plug to insert the sensor wire. For most applications, the sensor should rest against a circuit tube between the evaporator fins. Pinch fins gently around the probe for secure placement and thermal ballast.

If sensor cables need to be extended, use 18 gauge twisted shielded pairs (max recommended length: 100ft).

Intro Mode

The controller enters Intro Mode upon first power-up. This mode requires configuring essential setpoints to begin system control.

Steps:

  1. Press < or > to cycle through Control Types. Press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds when the correct type is displayed.
  2. If AdE or EdE is selected, choose the Expansion Valve Type by pressing < or >. Press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds to save.
  3. If AdE or EdE was selected, select the refrigerant by pressing < or >. Press and hold ENTER to save.
  4. Set KE2 SMARTACCESS to ENABLED or DISABLED. Press < or > to select, then press and hold ENTER.

Note: If a KE2-Edge Manager (KE2-EM) is on site, set KE2 SmartAccess to DISABLED.

Manual Defrost

Press and hold ENTER and < to initiate Defrost. The defrost cycle terminates automatically based on coil temperature. Pressing and holding ENTER and > during defrost skips to the drain (drip) mode.

Note: Fans may run for the first several minutes of electric defrost before fans turn off and heaters energize.

Manual Valve Control

Press and hold BACK and < to switch to EEV Manual Control mode. The open valve percentage is displayed. Press > to open the valve and < to close it. The controller attempts to move the valve in the indicated direction. Press ENTER to advance to the next digit. Press BACK to exit manual mode and return to automatic control.

System Off (Pumpdown)

Press and hold BACK and ENTER simultaneously until Sof is displayed. The controller will not refrigerate or defrost until system off is cleared or one hour passes. Press and hold BACK and ENTER again to exit system off. Power cycling the controller resets the one-hour timer. If Sof persists, check auxiliary inputs (AU1, AU2, AU3) for proper operation.
