Installation
The ZUM-HUB4 can be mounted into a rack or placed onto a flat surface.
Mounting Options
Placing onto a Flat Surface
Attach the included rubber feet near the corners on the underside of the device when placing it on a flat surface or stacking it with other equipment.
Mounting Into a Rack
The ZUM-HUB4 occupies 1U of rack space. To install the included rack ears:
- Use a #1 or #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws from each side of the front of the device.
- Use the screwdriver and the removed screws to attach the included rack ears to the device.
- Mount the device into the rack using four mounting screws (not included).
Connections
The ZUM-HUB4 utilizes a dedicated Control Subnet for communication between the control system and Crestron Ethernet devices, ensuring dedicated communication without interference from other network traffic on the LAN.
- Use Crestron power supplies for Crestron equipment.
- The included cable(s) cannot be extended.
- Apply power after all connections have been made.
Important Notes:
- Ensure the unit is properly grounded by connecting the chassis ground lug to an earth ground (e.g., building steel).
- The ZUM-HUB4 can be powered with the included 24VDC power pack.
- Do not connect the CONTROL SUBNET port to the LAN. This port must be connected only to Crestron Ethernet devices.
For detailed information on using the Control Subnet, refer to the 4-Series™ Control Systems Reference Guide (Doc. 8559).
Front Panel Overview
The front panel features status indicators and ports:
- Indicators: PWR (Power), NET (Network), MSG (Message), HW-R (Hardware Reset), SW-R (Software Reset).
- Ports: MEMORY (SD compatible card slot), MAC ID LABEL, USB (for storage devices), LAN (100/1000BASE-T Ethernet to LAN), CONTROL SUBNET (100/1000BASE-T Ethernet to control subnet), SERIAL LABEL, 24V (24V, 2.0A input from included power pack), Ground lug.
Zūm Wired System Diagram
The Zūm Wired System Diagram illustrates how components are interconnected:
- Control System: The central hub, connected via a network switch.
- Rooms: Each room contains sensors, lights, Zūm Link load controllers, Zūm Net load controllers, and keypads.
- Connections: Zūm Link load controllers manage in-room control, while Zūm Net load controllers handle room-to-room control. Sensors communicate digitally via Zūm Link, or via analog connection on a Zūm Wired J-BOX for non-system sensors.
- Power: 24VDC control is supplied to devices.
- Control Types: SW (Switch) or LV (Low Voltage) control is indicated.
Notes:
- Daisy-chain up to 20 Zūm Net devices (max 328 ft / 100 m per leg) using purple CBL-CAT5E-ZUMNET-P RJ-45 cables (sold separately).
- System sensors communicate digitally via Zūm Link.
Firmware Upgrade
Before initial use, ensure the ZUM-HUB4 has the latest firmware. Check for updates at www.crestron.com/firmware. Load the firmware using Crestron Toolbox™ software. Refer to Version Management for detailed instructions.
Configuration
The ZUM-HUB4 is configured via its web interface or the Zūm App.
Web Interface Configuration
Access the device by entering its hostname (e.g., ZUM-HUB4-00107FCA1112
) into a web browser. The initial connection displays the New User Registration screen. Enter Username, Password, Firstname, Lastname, and Email Address, then click Submit. Navigate to the Settings page for further configuration.
Zūm App Configuration
Connecting to the Zūm App:
- Download the Zūm app from the Google Play™ online store.
- Enable Bluetooth wireless connection on your device.
- Launch the Zūm app and grant requested permissions. The app displays a list of available spaces.
Zūm App Main Screen:
After selecting a room, the Main screen provides access to various functions:
- 1. Room Settings: Edit Room Name, PIN, Floor ID, Zone ID, and Network information.
- 2. Configuration: Edit room logic and view device states. This includes managing Sensors (view details, edit names), Load Controllers (view status, override states, assign modes like Occupancy, Vacancy, Vicinity, Daylight Harvesting, edit dimming curves/scenes), and Scenes (edit room scenes 1-16).
- 3. Discovered Room Devices: Identify devices and edit their commissioning settings. Tapping the identify icon ? helps locate devices; load controllers emit a sound and flash their Link LED, while keypads flash their LED. Tapping a device allows editing its name, reviewing model/serial number, and adjusting settings.
- 4. Current Template Settings: Choose to Open, Save, or Share room templates.
- 5. Configuration Data: Save room configurations, send changes to the room, or manage advanced data (Map, Logic, Settings). Note: Changes are not sent to the room until deployed via 'Send configuration to room'.
- 6. Revert Changes: Restore non-deployed changes made since launching the app.
Calibrate Daylighting Settings
Calibrating Daylighting allows the photocell component of a load controller to detect ambient light and dim lights accordingly.
Steps to Calibrate Daylighting:
- Assign Photocell: From the Main screen, navigate to Configuration > Load Controllers. Click the desired load controller and select a photocell from the 'Photo' drop-down menu.
- Send Configuration: Navigate back to the Main screen and click Send configuration to room. Confirm the action in the pop-up window.
- Recall Scene 1 and Adjust Load Levels: From the Main screen, navigate to Configuration > Scenes. Select Scene 1 (Daylighting is only available for Scene 1). Adjust the load levels for each zone to match the ambient natural light. Note: Do not click 'Save current levels' at this stage.
- Calibrate Daylighting: Navigate back to the Main screen, click Room Settings, then Daylight Properties, and finally click Calibrate Daylighting.
Upon successful calibration, the lights will briefly turn full on, then off, and then back on with the new Daylighting settings. Daylighting settings are initiated whenever Scene 1 is recalled.
