The Suraielec Digital Box Timer Switch is housed in a durable enclosure. On the front, there's a clear plastic insulator that can be opened to reveal the internal components. Key features include:
The illustration shows the box with its front panel open, revealing the digital timer unit, indicators, and terminal strip. The knockouts are visible on the sides, and the grounded terminal is located at the bottom.
Choose the knockouts (five 1/2" to 3/4" combination knockouts available).
The knockouts are circular openings on the timer box. For 1/2" conduit, only the inner part of the pre-installed rubber plug is removed. For 3/4" conduit, the entire rubber plug is removed.
Mounting the Digital Box Timer:
The mounting process involves holding the box in place and using its three mounting holes to mark the position on the mounting surface. The box is then secured with screws through these holes.
Note: Always connect the grounded wire to the grounding terminal.
The terminal strip includes: L (Live), N (Neutral), NO (Normally Open), COM (Common Terminal), J (Jumper Wire), and T (Timer).
120V Application - Controlling One 120VAC Load:
The diagram shows the Digital Box Timer connected to a 120VAC load. The Live (L) and Neutral (N) inputs connect to the timer's L and N terminals. A jumper wire (J1) connects the timer's L terminal to the COM1 terminal. The load is connected between the NO1 terminal and the Neutral (N) line. This setup allows the timer to control a single 120VAC load.
120V Application - Controlling Two 120VAC Loads:
This configuration extends the single load setup to control two 120VAC loads. Live (L) and Neutral (N) inputs connect to the timer. A jumper wire (J1) connects the timer's L terminal to COM1. The first load connects between NO1 and the Neutral (N) line. A second jumper wire (J2) connects the timer's L terminal to COM2. The second load connects between NO2 and the Neutral (N) line. This allows independent or synchronized control of two 120VAC loads.
277VAC Application - Controlling Two 277VAC Loads:
Similar to the 120V two-load setup, but for 277VAC. This configuration is for controlling two 277VAC loads.
Hot Water Heater Typical Wiring Diagram:
This diagram illustrates how the Digital Box Timer can be integrated into a hot water heater system, typically involving a circuit breaker box. The timer receives 120VAC power. Jumper wire (J1) connects the timer's L terminal to COM1. The hot water tank's 120VAC input is connected to NO1. For a 240VAC dual-phase hot water heater, L1 and L2 from the circuit breaker box connect to the timer's L and L2 terminals, respectively. The hot water tank's 240VAC input connects to NO1 and NO2, with COM1 and COM2 connected to the timer's L and L2 terminals via jumper wires (J1 and J2). This allows the timer to control the power supply to the hot water heater.
Before initial use, plug the timer in for at least 30 minutes to charge the internal battery. After the screen displays, the unit is ready for programming.
Timer should operate in the "AUTO ON" or "AUTO OFF" mode. Refer to the "Switching Mode Indication" section.
Before programming, all settings should be reset. The reset hole, identified by "R", is located just below the "R/RECALL" button. Use a paper clip or ballpoint pen to activate it. The display will show "88:88" initially, then "00:00" after a few seconds, indicating a successful reset.
Keep the "CLOCK" button pressed during the entire setting operation.
Release the "CLOCK" button. The time will be set.
Press the "PROG" button once to access the first ON/OFF setting. There are a total of 20 ON/OFF settings.
The display will show the days of the week (MO TU WE TH FR SA SU) and a time (e.g., "00:00").
Repeat these steps to set ON/OFF times. Pressing the "PROG" button again will advance to the other 19 ON/OFF settings.
Press the "PROG" button to select the ON/OFF setting that needs to be changed. Press the "R/RECALL" button to reset the current ON/OFF setting without having to scroll through all the hours. The display will show "8:00" with "20" and "SA SU" indicating the setting number and days.
The actual mode is shown on the display as "ON", "AUTO ON", "OFF", or "AUTO OFF" together with the time of day. Press the "ON/AUTO/OFF" button to adjust to the desired setting mode.
As an independent programming, it is possible at any given time to advance to the next switching command by constantly pressing the "ON/AUTO/OFF" button.
The mode cycles through: AUTO OFF → ON → AUTO ON → OFF
Press and hold the "CLOCK" button for 3 seconds to advance the current time by 1 hour; a "+1h" icon will appear on the display. Press and hold the "CLOCK" button for 3 seconds again to decrease 1 hour, and the "+1h" icon will disappear. The display will show the time (e.g., "8:00" or "9:00") with "TH" indicating the day.
In the event of a power failure, the timer will retain its settings for an estimated 3 months if the power backup is fully charged.
