General Information & Operation
Crown and Pusher Positions
The watch movement utilizes a crown and pushers for various functions. The crown typically has two positions:
- Position I: Normal running position (watch is running).
- Position II: Stopped position (watch is stopped, for setting time, date, etc.).
Pushers are labeled A, B, C, and D, and their functions vary by caliber. Refer to the specific sections below.
Diagrams
Visual representations indicate the crown positions and the functions of pushers A, B, C, and D, which are used for quick corrections of date, day of the week, month, and calendar week.
Blocking Periods
Automatic changes (e.g., date, day of week) occur during specific blocking periods. Activating pushers during these times can cause malfunctions.
- General Blocking Period: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Pushers A, B, and C must not be activated during this time.
- Calendar Week Blocking Period (Caliber 706.B): Saturday 10:00 PM to Monday 12:00 PM. Pusher D must not be activated during this time.
Setting Sequence (e.g., After Battery Change)
Follow these steps to set the moonphase display, day of the week, date, and time:
- Pull the crown out to Position II (watch stops).
- Set Moonphase Display: Turn the crown clockwise until the full moon position is displayed.
- Set Day of the Week and Date:
- Turn the crown until 06:00 AM is displayed (this is outside the blocking period).
- For Calibers 706.1 & 706.3: Use Pusher A to set the date and Pusher B to set the day of the week of the last full moon. Then, turn the crown to advance the hands to the current date.
- For Caliber 706.B: To set the day of the week, you must cycle through time by turning the crown backward and forward (e.g., 01:00 AM / 10:00 PM) until the day of the week corresponding to the last full moon is displayed. Then, use Pusher A to set the date of the last full moon. Finally, turn the crown to advance the hands to the current date.
- Set Time: Turn the crown until the current time is displayed (remember the 24-hour cycle).
- Push the crown back into Position I.
