WARNING: HARDWARE THREAD GALLING

HARDWARE THREAD GALLING

Aerofabb provides fasteners in Stainless Steel for longevity. While Stainless Steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, its threads can be sensitive to Nylon Lock Nuts. To prevent thread galling, it is recommended to install hardware with an Anti-Seize thread lubricant. Common practices to prevent thread galling include slowing the installation speed and keeping bolts stationary while tightening nuts.

HOLE IDENTIFICATION DIAGRAM

The diagram illustrates the locations for hardware installation on the front splitter and bumper. Holes are color-coded for clarity:

The diagram shows the front splitter with labeled attachment points (A, B, C, D, E) and the aerobrace component. It indicates where the splitter attaches to the bumper, including the use of spacer pucks.

INSTALLATION STEPS

Aerofabb, LLC is not responsible for damage to you or your vehicle during installation. Professional installation is recommended. Aerofabb also recommends installing hardware with Anti-Seize (thread lubricant) and hand tools to prevent thread galling.

  1. Safely raise the vehicle to gain access to the underside of the bumper.
  2. Using a T-25 Torx, identify and remove the 9 factory Splash Pan Torx screws on the underside of the bumper.
  3. Using a T-25 Torx, identify and remove the 6 lower Fender Liner Torx screws (3 in each wheel well on the bumper side).
  4. Pull away the Fender Liner from the bumper. Identify and remove the factory Clip-On Nuts.
  5. Replace the factory Clip-On Nuts with the 8-32 Clip-On Nuts provided in Alignment Hardware (B). Push until the Clip-On Nuts snap into place.
  6. Using a 2.5mm Hex Wrench and Hardware (A), assemble the Front Splitter by installing the 3 Spacer Pucks and tighten as shown. Note: Do not overtighten hardware.
  7. Raise the Aerofabb Front Splitter to the bumper, lining up the Splitter holes (B) with the bumper holes indicated. These holes will align with your 8-32 Clip-On Nuts.
  8. Using a 3/32" Hex Wrench, install the remaining hardware from Alignment Hardware (B). Fasten the Splitter to the Bumper by passing through Splitter holes (B) and tighten.
  9. Hold the Splitter flat against the bottom of the Bumper. Use a 1/4" Drill Bit to drill through the 4 Splitter holes (C) and into the Bumper. Notes: Do not overtighten hardware. Support the weight of the Splitter between steps 9-11, ensuring it does not hang until Hardware C is in place. Run the drill bit through multiple passes to ensure the hole is clear of debris. Be sure the drill bit is not angled while drilling.
  10. Using a 4mm Hex Wrench and 10mm Wrench, install Hardware (C) through holes (C) and tighten. (Pull Splash Pan down to gain access to the backside).
  11. Use a 1/4" Drill Bit to drill through the 4 Splitter holes (D) and into the Bumper.
  12. Using a 4mm Hex Wrench and 10mm Wrench, install Hardware (D) through holes (D) and tighten. (Pull Splash Pan down to gain access to the backside). Note: Use 25mm bolts for REARWARD holes and 30mm bolts for FORWARD holes.
  13. Using a 4mm Hex Wrench and 10mm Wrench, install Hardware (E) through holes (E) and tighten. (Pull Splash Pan down to gain access to the backside). Note: Use 30mm bolts for REARWARD holes and 40mm bolts for FORWARD holes. The aerobrace installs on the topside of the bumper, followed by an 18mm washer and locknut.
  14. INSTALLATION COMPLETE
  15. Using a T-25 Torx, reinstall the factory Splash Pan/Fender Liner Torx screws.
  16. Check all hardware for tightness.
  17. This completes the installation. You will be left with 2 factory T-25 Torx Screws and 2 factory Clip-On Nuts.
