MAUL Whiteboard Usage and Care Guide
Instructions for optimal use and maintenance of MAUL whiteboards.
General Usage Guidelines
Only use dry-wipe markers. Never use permanent markers.
Handling Accidental Permanent Marker Use
If a permanent marker is used by mistake, clean the board immediately. Use a clean, soft cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol or a commercial glass cleaner (without spiritus additives) to dissolve the marker residue. Isopropyl alcohol can be purchased at any pharmacy.
Printed grids, such as those found on planning boards, will not be damaged by this cleaning method.
Cleaning and Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance, clean the surface thoroughly before the first use. A standard whiteboard cleaner is recommended. Alternatively, a common dish soap or degreaser can be used. Avoid abrasive products.
Depending on how often the whiteboard is used, cleaning the surface several times a week is advised. Begin by dry-wiping any dried marker residue. Subsequently, clean the entire surface with a whiteboard cleaner. It is crucial that the board is completely dry before its next use. Repeat this process until all residual marks are gone.
This cleaning procedure is also necessary if text has been left on the board for a prolonged period.
Over time, fingerprints, tobacco smoke, dust, and other elements can form an invisible film on the surface, which greatly hinders the dry-wipeability. In such instances, regular cleaning of the board with whiteboard cleaner is essential.
Recommendations for Frequent Use
For frequent or intensive use, such as in educational institutions, MAUL recommends whiteboards with an enamel coating. This scratch-resistant ceramic-glass material offers superior hardness and resistance compared to whiteboards with plastic-coated surfaces.
