How to Change Manual Gearbox Oil on Audi Allroad (4BH, C5)
Replacement Guide
Important Information
This replacement procedure is applicable for the following Audi Allroad models:
- Audi Allroad (4BH, C5) 2.5 TDI quattro
- Audi Allroad (4BH, C5) 2.7 T quattro
- Audi Allroad (4BH, C5) 2.7 quattro
Note: The steps may slightly vary depending on the car's design.
This tutorial was created based on the replacement procedure for a similar car part on: SKODA Fabia I Combi (6Y5) 1.2.
Tools You'll Need
The following tools are required for the manual gearbox oil replacement:
- Wire brush
- All-purpose cleaning spray
- HEX bit No.H17
- Drive socket #12
- Phillips screwdriver
- Torque wrench
- Funnel
- Oil drain pan
- Fender cover

General Recommendations

Recommended Sequence of Steps

Step 1: Open the hood.
Access the engine compartment.

Step 2: Use a fender protection cover.
Apply a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3: Lift the car.
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit to gain access to the underside.

Step 4: Unscrew lower sound insulation fasteners.
Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a drive socket #12 and a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 5: Remove the lower sound insulation.
Carefully remove the lower sound insulation panel.

Step 6: Clean the oil pan drainage hole area.
Clean the area around the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush and all-purpose cleaning spray.

Step 7: Position waste oil container.
Place a waste oil container with at least 2 liters capacity under the drainage hole.

Step 8: Unscrew the drain plug.
Unscrew the drain plug using a HEX No.H17 tool.

Step 9: Drain the used oil.
Allow the used gearbox oil to drain completely into the container.

Step 10: Clean the gearbox housing filler hole area.
Clean the area around the gearbox housing filler hole. Use a wire brush and all-purpose cleaning spray.

Step 11: Unscrew the filler plug.
Unscrew the filler plug of the gearbox housing. Use HEX No.H17.

Step 12: Install and tighten the new drain plug.
Screw in the new drain plug and tighten it securely. Use HEX No.H17 and a torque wrench. Tighten to 32 Nm torque.

Step 13: Fill the gearbox with new oil.
Insert the funnel and pour the new oil into the gearbox through the filler hole. Required amount of oil: 1.5 L.

Step 14: Screw in and tighten the filler plug.
Screw in the filler plug of the gearbox housing. Use HEX No.H17 and a torque wrench. Tighten to 32 Nm torque.

Step 15: Clean the gearbox housing filler hole area.
Clean the area around the gearbox housing filler hole again. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.

Step 16: Install the lower sound insulation.
Reinstall the lower sound insulation panel.

Step 17: Screw in lower sound insulation fasteners.
Secure the lower sound insulation by screwing in the fasteners. Use a drive socket #12 and a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 18: Lower the car.
Carefully lower the car back to the ground.
