Tools You'll Need

The following tools are required for the manual gearbox oil replacement:

  • Wire brush
  • All-purpose cleaning spray
  • HEX bit No.H17
  • Drive socket #12
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Torque wrench
  • Funnel
  • Oil drain pan
  • Fender cover

General Recommendations

Recommended Sequence of Steps

  1. Step 1: Open the hood.

    Access the engine compartment.

  2. Step 2: Use a fender protection cover.

    Apply a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

  3. Step 3: Lift the car.

    Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit to gain access to the underside.

  4. Step 4: Unscrew lower sound insulation fasteners.

    Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a drive socket #12 and a Phillips screwdriver.

  5. Step 5: Remove the lower sound insulation.

  6. Step 6: Clean the oil pan drainage hole area.

    Clean the area around the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush and all-purpose cleaning spray.

  7. Step 7: Position waste oil container.

    Place a waste oil container with at least 2 liters capacity under the drainage hole.

  8. Step 8: Unscrew the drain plug.

    Unscrew the drain plug using a HEX No.H17 tool.

  9. Step 9: Drain the used oil.

    Allow the used gearbox oil to drain completely into the container.

  10. Step 10: Clean the gearbox housing filler hole area.

    Clean the area around the gearbox housing filler hole. Use a wire brush and all-purpose cleaning spray.

  11. Step 11: Unscrew the filler plug.

  13. Step 13: Fill the gearbox with new oil.

    Insert the funnel and pour the new oil into the gearbox through the filler hole. Required amount of oil: 1.5 L.
