This Quick Installation Guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up your DES-1009MP 9-port 10/100 PoE Switch. The model you have purchased may appear slightly different from the one shown in the illustrations.

Hardware Overview

LED Indicators

Description of front panel LEDs:

# LED Status Description
1 Power Solid green The switch is powered on.
Off The switch is turned off.
2 Link/ ACT/ Speed (Left Led) Solid green There is an active link negotiated on this port.
Blinking green There is traffic on the port.
Off There is no active link on this port.
3 PoE (Right Led) Solid green The port is providing power to the connected PoE-powered device.
Blinking green Indicates a PoE-powered device is connected to this PoE port, but the switch has insufficient remaining power budget to power the device.
Off There is no PoE-powered device connected to this port.

Front Panel Connectors

Description of front panel ports:

1 Ports 1 - 8 10/100 Mbps PoE-capable ports, used for connecting Ethernet devices and PoE-powered devices.
2 Ports 9 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port for uplink connections to NVR, storage or core switch.

The front panel features 8 x 10/100 Mbps PoE-capable Ethernet ports (Ports 1-8) and 1 x 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet uplink port (Port 9).

Rear Panel Connectors

Description of rear panel connectors:

1 DC Power Input Input jack for the power adapter.
2 SWITCH GND Screw used to secure a grounding wire to connect the switch to ground.

The rear panel includes a DC power input jack and a grounding screw (SWITCH GND).

For safe switch installation and operation, it is recommended to:

Grounding the Switch

The following steps explain the procedure for connecting the switch to a protective ground:

  1. Verify that the system is powered off.
  2. Remove the ground screw and place the #8 terminal lug ring at one end of the ground cable on top of the ground screw opening.
  3. Insert the ground screw back into the ground screw opening.
  4. Using a screwdriver, tighten the ground screw to secure the ground cable to the switch.
  5. Attach the terminal lug ring at the other end of the grounding cable to an appropriate grounding source.
  6. Verify that the connections from the ground connector on the switch to the grounding source are securely attached.

Powering On the Switch

After connecting the switch to the network using a compatible category 5/6/7 UTP network cable, simply connect the switch to a power outlet to power the device.

The device is intended for use in dry, clean, dust-free, and well-ventilated areas, away from heat sources. Do not use outdoors or in humid environments. Do not place foreign objects on the device. Ensure ventilation openings are clear. Ambient temperature should be between 0 and +40 °C. Use only the supplied power adapter. Do not use if the adapter or cable is damaged. Connect only to compatible power outlets. Do not open the device casing. Clean with a damp cloth; avoid liquid/aerosol cleaners. Prevent moisture ingress. The device should be grounded if required by its design. Device lifespan is 2 years. The warranty period is one year from the date of purchase from an official dealer in Russia and CIS countries. The warranty period cannot exceed 2 years from the manufacturing date, determined by the 6th and 7th digits of the serial number (e.g., Year: A-2010, B-2011...; Month: 1-Jan, 2-Feb... A-Oct, B-Nov, C-Dec). For service or technical support, contact D-Link.
