Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Sensiplast Kinesiology Tape. This high-quality product is designed for application to the skin to provide support and aid in recovery. Please read these instructions and safety information carefully before use. Keep these instructions for future reference.

Medical Device: For private use only.

Note: This medical device is intended for adults who can read, understand, and follow these instructions independently. Ensure a valid reason for use is present, as outlined in the 'Indications' section. Do not use if contraindications apply.

Scope of Delivery

Intended Purpose

This kinesiology tape is designed to be applied to the skin. When tensioned and applied, the elastic tape transmits its tension to the skin, reinforcing it with an additional textile layer. When used correctly, it can help stabilize joints and alleviate muscle pain and tension. The tension can stimulate the skin and lymphatic vessels, promoting fluid drainage and reducing swelling.

Indications

The elastic tape can be used to help alleviate:

Contraindications

Do not use, or only use after consulting a doctor, in cases of:

Assistance from a second person is recommended for correct application.

Note: Always apply the ends (anchors) of the tape without tension.

Preparation

  1. Important: Do not apply creams or similar products immediately before applying the tape.
  2. If the area to be treated is heavily haired, shave it.
  3. Clean the body part with a degreasing agent (e.g., soap or skin disinfectant). The skin must be clean, grease-free, and dry.

Cutting the Tape / Kinesiology Tape Shapes

Measure the desired tape length against the body part and cut from the roll. Round off all corners with scissors after cutting (Fig. A).

Available Tape Shapes:

Detaching the Paper

  1. Take the cut tape.
  2. Pull at both ends until the paper tears (Fig. F).
  3. Detach the paper from the tear side (Fig. G). Slightly twisting the tape can make paper detachment easier.

Important: Do not touch the adhesive surface, as this reduces adhesion.

Application Examples

Neck

Can help alleviate tautness in the shoulder and neck area.

  1. Determine the required length based on neck musculature.
  2. Prepare the tape in an I-shape.
  3. Lean your head to the opposite side to create tension in the neck muscles.
  4. Apply the slightly tensioned tape to the body part. Apply the ends without tension (Fig. H).

Shoulder

Can help reinforce stability and motion in the shoulder joint.

  1. Determine the desired length based on shoulder musculature.
  2. Prepare two tapes in an I-shape.
  3. Apply the first tape with high tension from above onto the shoulder.
  4. Apply the second tape with high tension from the side onto the shoulder (Fig. I).

Back

Can be applied in a standing position to help reduce postural weaknesses. Can be applied when bent forward to relieve lower back muscles.

  1. Prepare two long I-shaped tapes.
  2. Apply the tapes without tension to the left and right sides of the spine (Fig. J).

Thigh

Can be beneficial for tenseness, cramps, pulled muscles, and muscle tears. Can also be used for certain knee problems by improving the perception of knee flexion/extension when applied correctly.

  1. Determine the desired length based on thigh musculature.
  2. Prepare the tape in an I-shape.
  3. Bend the leg for application.
  4. Apply the tape along the thigh muscle (Fig. K).

Knee

Can be used for soft tissue swellings.

  1. Prepare two eyelash-shaped tapes matching the knee size.
  2. Sit down and gently bend your knee.
  3. Apply the end of the first tape (without eyelashes) to the hollow of the knee.
  4. Apply each eyelash individually in a fan shape over the knee.
  5. Apply the end of the second tape (without eyelashes) to the outside of the knee.
  6. Apply each individual eyelash in a fan shape over the eyelashes of the first tape (Fig. L).

Achilles Tendon / Calf

Can be used for inflammations and strains affecting the Achilles tendon and adjacent calf muscle area.

  1. Determine the desired length based on the Achilles tendon and calf muscles.
  2. Prepare one trouser-shaped tape and one I-shaped tape.
  3. Hold the I-shaped tape and raise your ankle.
  4. Apply one end of the tape to your ankle and place your ankle on the floor.
  5. Smoothly pull off the paper and apply the tape to the Achilles tendon/calf.
  6. Raise your ankle and apply one end of the trouser-shaped tape to the first tape.
  7. Smoothly pull off the paper and apply the "trouser legs" of the tape around the left and right sides of the calf (Fig. M).

Special Case: Menstrual Cramps (Dysmenorrhea)

  1. Locate the point on your back above the first sacral vertebra (S1), in line with the spinal column.
  2. Prepare four I-shaped tapes, approximately 10 cm long.
  3. Apply the four tapes crosswise over the point with high tension. Ensure the ends are applied without tension (Fig. N).

Special Case: Thigh Muscle Tear

  1. Prepare two Y-shaped tapes according to the size of the affected body part.
  2. Apply the tapes layered over the muscle tear (Fig. O).

Special Case: Calf Muscle Tear

  1. Prepare four short I-shaped tapes.
  2. Apply the tapes layered over the painful spot (Fig. P).

Special Case: Supraspinatus Tendinitis

Can be used for injuries/inflammations of the supraspinatus muscle and its tendon.

  1. Determine the desired length based on shoulder musculature. Measure three large segments (approx. 15 cm) on the back of the tape.
  2. Prepare the tape in an I-shape.
  3. Turn the bent arm on the side to be taped behind your back.
  4. Apply the tape with slight tension along the upper edge of the shoulder blade (Fig. Q).

Removing the Tape

Pull the tape off flush with the skin, avoiding pulling at an angle. Remove any adhesive residue with disinfectant or Vaseline.

Note: The longer the tape remains on the skin, the easier it is to remove. Removing tape from hairy skin may be uncomfortable; shaving the area beforehand is recommended. Do not apply immediately after shaving.
