This document provides essential information for setting up and using your MSI Optix Series LCD Monitor. It covers safety instructions, hardware installation, OSD (On-Screen Display) settings, specifications, and troubleshooting.

1. Getting Started

This section explains the hardware installation procedures. When connecting the device, use an anti-static wrist strap to avoid static electricity and handle the device carefully.

* Provided items may vary by country.

1.2 Monitor Stand Installation (Optional)

For MAG241C/ MAG241CV/ MAG271C/ MAG271CV:

  1. Place the monitor on a stable and flat surface.
  2. Connect the base to the stand.
  3. Secure the base by tightening the screws.

For MAG241CP/ MAG241CR/ MAG271CP/ MAG271CR:

  1. Align the stand with the monitor.
  2. Connect the base to the stand.
  3. Secure the base by tightening the screws.

Important Note: Place the monitor on a soft surface that can protect the panel to prevent scratches.

1.3 Monitor Adjustment

This monitor is designed for maximum viewing comfort and features adjustment functions such as tilting and lifting.

Important Note: Do not touch the display panel when adjusting the monitor.

1.4 Monitor Overview

USB Upstream Cable Usage:

Check the USB upstream cable package. Connect this cable between your PC and the monitor. Once connected, the monitor's Type-A USB downstream ports will be ready for use.

1.5 Connecting the Monitor to Your PC

  1. Turn off your computer.
  2. Connect the HDMI/DisplayPort cable from the monitor to your computer. (Figure A)
  3. Connect the power cord to the monitor's power jack. (Figure A)
  4. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. (Figure B)
  5. Turn on the monitor. (Figure C)
  6. Select the input source in the OSD menu and turn on your computer.

2. OSD Setup

This section provides essential information for OSD settings. All information is subject to change without prior notice.

2.1 Navi Key

This monitor is equipped with a Navi Key, a multi-directional control key that helps you navigate the OSD (On-Screen Display). The Navi Key allows you to access various functions.

Navi Key Shortcut Customization:

You can customize the Navi Key shortcuts via the OSD menu. The following describes the shortcut options:

Brightness
  • Press the center button to save value or exit.
  • Use Up/Down buttons to adjust.
  • Press the Left button to cancel preview and exit.
  • Default brightness for FHD is 80.
Refresh Rate
  • Confirm selection or exit by pressing the center button.
  • Press the Right button to turn ON or Left button to turn OFF the refresh rate.

2.2 Using the Navi Key for OSD Setup

To start the OSD main menu, press the center button of the Navi Key. Use the Up/Down/Left/Right buttons to adjust the desired function menu according to your preference.

  • Use Up/Down buttons to select and preview mode effects.
  • Press the center button to confirm and apply the mode type.
  • Adjust values using Up or Down buttons.
  • This function can improve backlight brightness and is recommended for FPS gaming.

Response Time:

Fast
  • When Response Time is set to Fast for a minimum 75Hz refresh rate, Anti-Motion Blur is automatically enabled.
  • The "Fastest" option is disabled when the refresh rate is below 75Hz.
  • Recommended for FPS and Racing games.
Anti-Motion Blur(Off)
  • Brightness cannot be adjusted when Anti-Motion Blur is ON.
  • When Response Time is set to Fast for a minimum 75Hz refresh rate, Anti-Motion Blur is automatically enabled.
  • When the refresh rate is below 75Hz, Anti-Motion Blur cannot be enabled, and Response Time cannot be set to Fast.
  • When Anti-Motion Blur is enabled, HDCR is greyed out and cannot be activated.
  • Recommended for Movie, FPS, and Racing games.
  • Anti-Motion Blur is disabled when FreeSync is enabled.

Refresh RatePosition
  • Allows adjustment of refresh rate in any mode.
  • Default refresh rate position is bottom-left. Position can be adjusted in the OSD menu.
  • Confirm and apply the refresh rate position by pressing the center button.
  • This monitor operates according to the refresh rates preset by the operating system.
Alarm ClockPosition
  • Allows adjustment of the alarm clock in any mode.
  • Press the center button to activate the timer after setting the time.
  • Default alarm clock position is top-left. You can select your own position.
Screen AssistanceNoneAllows adjustment of screen assistance in any mode. Default is None.

FreeSync:

FreeSync helps prevent screen tearing. HDMI default is ON but greyed out (cannot be changed). DisplayPort default is ON, and can be toggled ON/OFF for any mode, resolution, input source, or refresh rate. FreeSync disables Anti-Motion Blur when enabled.

Profile:

Eye Saver(Off)
  • Eye Saver protects your eyes from blue light. Enabling this feature adjusts the screen color temperature to be warmer.
  • Eye Saver can be adjusted in any mode.
  • If Profile Mode is set to Reader, Eye Saver must be enabled.
(On)
HDCR(Off)
  • HDCR default is OFF. HDCR can be adjusted in any mode.
  • HDCR enhances image contrast for better image quality.
  • When HDCR is set to ON, Brightness is greyed out.
  • HDCR and Anti-Motion Blur cannot be enabled simultaneously.
  • HDCR cannot be enabled when Anti-Motion Blur is active, and Response Time cannot be set to Fast.

Image Enhancement:

Image Enhancement improves image edges for sharper details. Can be adjusted in any mode.

  • Brightness can be adjusted in User, RTS, RPG, and Reader modes.
  • Brightness is disabled when Anti-Motion Blur and HDCR are enabled.
Contrast0-100Default contrast is 80. Contrast can be adjusted in any mode.
Sharpness0-5Default sharpness is 0. Sharpness can be adjusted in any mode. Sharpness improves image clarity and detail.
Color TemperatureCool, Normal, Warm, User
  • Default color temperature is Normal.
  • Use Up/Down buttons to select and preview mode effects.
  • Press the center button to confirm and apply the mode type.
  • User mode allows adjustment of color temperature. Default for User mode is 50/50/50.
Screen Size4:3, 16:9Default screen size is 16:9. Screen size can be adjusted for any mode, resolution, or refresh rate.

Input Source:

Allows adjustment of input source in any mode.

2.3 Settings

  • Factory default language is English.
  • Confirm and apply language settings by pressing the center button.
  • Language is an independent setting item. User-defined language settings override factory defaults. If the user sets Reset to Yes, the language will not change.
Transparency0-5Default transparency is 0. Transparency can be adjusted in any mode.
OSD Time Out5-30sDefault OSD time out is 20 seconds. OSD time out can be adjusted in any mode.
RGB LEDOff, OnDefault RGB LED is On. RGB LED can be set to On or Off (Exclusive to MAG241CR and MAG271CR).
ResetYes, NoAllows resetting to original OSD defaults in any mode.
