Thank you for choosing a Denon AVR.
Use the setup assistant to help you configure the settings of this unit when you install it for the first time. To configure the settings, follow the instructions shown on the screen of the TV connected to this unit. This manual describes the procedure up to the point of starting the setup assistant.

Note: When connecting this unit to a device compatible with Deep Color, 4K, and ARC functions, use a "High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet" that bears the HDMI logo.

Setup
1. Connect the Power Cable
Place the AVR near the TV and connect the power cable.

2. Connect the AVR to the TV
Using a high-quality HDMI cable*, connect one end to the HDMI port labeled "ARC" on the TV. Connect the other end to the "HDMI OUT TV (ARC)" port on the AVR.
What is ARC?
Audio Return Channel (ARC) sends audio back to the AVR using the same HDMI cable that sends video from the AVR to the TV. This allows the AVR to process sound from the TV's built-in tuner and applications.
*For 4K TVs, we recommend using an HDMI cable that includes the "High Speed" and "with Ethernet" designations.

3. Turn on the TV

4. Select the Correct HDMI Input on the TV

5. Install Batteries in the AVR Remote Control

Note: Batteries can be removed in reverse order.
6. Turn on the AVR
Press the power button ⏻ on the remote control.

7. Verify the Connection
Ensure you see the following screen on the TV.

If this screen does not appear, go back and repeat the recommended steps. If the unit was previously configured, the setup assistant will not start automatically. To access the setup assistant, press SETUP on the remote control and select Setup Assistant from the menu.
8. Follow the On-Screen Setup Assistant
The TV is now connected to the AVR. The setup assistant will guide you through the process of connecting and configuring the speakers and components of your Denon AVR. Use the remote control and follow the on-screen instructions on the TV to complete the AVR settings via the setup assistant.

Music Playback - Bluetooth
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the remote control for at least 3 seconds to enter pairing mode.
- Activate the Bluetooth configuration on your mobile device.
- Select "Denon AVR-S270BT" from the list of Bluetooth devices on your mobile device.
- When a number appears on the screen of this unit, check that it is the same number shown on the Bluetooth device's screen, then select "Pair" on both the Bluetooth device and the unit.
- Play music using any application on your device.
Note: To reconnect a previously paired Bluetooth device, start from step 2.
