Introduction
The Honeywell Gen7 DB Miniature Decoder Board is a next-generation component designed to enhance the performance of Honeywell's new N670X Series and Extended FlexRange™ EX30 Scan Engines. It features a 2.5 times faster processor speed and a newer software decoder platform.
As the successor to Honeywell's successful MINI DB Decoder Board, the Gen7 DB offers high performance and a small form factor. Users benefit from comprehensive barcode symbology support, excellent motion tolerance, and aggressive scanning capabilities for all barcode types, including those that are poorly printed or displayed on smartphone screens. The board is also flash-upgradable, ensuring continuous innovation and support.
Customers can choose between a TTL serial or a USB interface for board-to-board, snap-on installation to their main board. This connection is secured using additional hold-down screws, creating a "cable-less" solution that eliminates the need for an extra flex cable and connector, resulting in a more compact footprint.
The Honeywell Gen7 DB operates within a wide temperature range of -30°C to 60°C [-22°F to 140°F], matching the operating temperature range of the higher-performance N670X Series Scan Engine.
The Gen7 DB is fully backwards compatible with the MINI DB Decoder Board, maintaining the same electrical pin-outs and mechanical fit. This facilitates a smooth migration for current designs to the new Honeywell GEN7 DB platform, boosting performance. When combined with the Extended FlexRange EX30, the N670X Series, or the N3601 scan engines, customers can embed a complete 2D imaging solution in an exceptionally small space, offering greater design flexibility and integration capabilities.
