Structure to Ballast Housing
Loop safety chain over structure. Secure with an 8-32 x 1-1/2" bolt, keps nut, and locknut as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Description: Illustrates a safety chain looped over a structural support (e.g., a beam or mounting point) and attached to the fixture's ballast housing using an 8-32 bolt, a keps nut, and a lock nut.
Ballast Housing Attachment
Remove the 10-24 bolt from the bottom hole of the ballast housing flange. Replace it with an 8-32 x 1-1/2" bolt and an 8-32 keps nut. Secure the safety chain from the structure to this new 8-32 x 1-1/2" bolt using a lock nut.
Figure 2 Description: Shows the ballast housing flange. A 10-24 bolt is removed and replaced with an 8-32 x 1-1/2" bolt and an 8-32 keps nut. The safety chain is then secured to this bolt with a lock nut.
Important Notes
- IMPORTANT: REMOVE ALL CHAIN SLACK FROM BETWEEN CHAIN CONNECTIONS.
- IMPORTANT: In the event the fixture should become dislodged, the safety chain can become fatigued. A new safety chain is to be installed with reinstallation of the lighting fixture.
