Full HD in 2D – A Proven Technology

Full HD technology has established itself as the standard for quality, offering significant advantages over previous PAL/NTSC formats:

Aesculap provides a comprehensive solution for Full HD image reproduction, with components (camera, light source, endoscope, documentation system, monitor) tuned to work together. The introduction of a next-generation 3-Chip Full HD Camera, a unique LED light source, and an intuitive Full HD documentation system positions Aesculap as a leading contender in this market segment.

Key Components

LED Light Source

LED technology is now prevalent in medical products, including light sources. Sufficient light is fundamental for endoscopic procedures. The Aesculap LED light source offers:

  • An exceedingly high light yield with a long service life.
  • A universal adapter for all common fibre optics.
  • An innovative integrated light measurement system for fibre optics.

3-Chip Full HD Camera

The camera is central to the video chain, processing vast amounts of image data rapidly. With over six million pixels, it captures detailed information from within the body, transmitting it as a high-resolution image. This is enabled by modern technology and Aesculap's extensive expertise.

The new 3-Chip Full HD Camera and the new CMOS Full HD Camera offer:

  • State-of-the-art technology.
  • Remotely controlled camera functions via the camera head.
  • The option to control a new Aesculap LED light source directly via the camera.

System Quality and Functionality

Full HD Image Reproduction

The monitor is the final link in the video chain, critically contributing to the overall system quality. Aesculap displays are designed to reproduce high-resolution image data from the camera in true-to-life colours and a wide-screen format.

Full HD Endoscope

Endoscopes are critical components, with their preparation, sterilization, and transportation influencing quality and service life. Aesculap endoscopes meet these needs by implementing the premium Full HD Standard, characterized by bright, high-contrast images with outstanding depth of field, identified by the "Full HD Logo".

Full HD Documentation

The "Eddy Full HD" documentation system allows surgeons to save and reproduce impressive image quality. It features:

  • Record and playback in Full HD quality (1920 x 1080 pixels).
  • Simple and intuitive user operation.
  • Image reproduction and operation via a primary monitor, making a secondary monitor optional.

Further information is available in brochure C46702, "Endoscopy Units and Accessories".
