About the Product
The Hot Wheels RC Supercharged Shark is a remote-controlled vehicle designed for both land and water operation. It features a "Chomping Action" that can be activated by a button on the remote.
Key Features:
- LED Indicator: Provides status updates on the vehicle.
- Chomp Button: Activates the vehicle's chomping action.
- Driving Controls: Standard forward/backward and left/right steering.
- Alignment Buttons: Used to adjust steering if the vehicle pulls to one side.
- Power Button: Turns the vehicle on and off.
- Charge Port: For recharging the internal Li-ion battery.
The vehicle is recommended for outdoor use and operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency band.
Getting Started: Setup and Charging
Remote Controller Battery Installation
The remote controller requires 4 AA (LR6) 1.5V batteries (not included). Ensure correct polarity ([+/-]) when inserting them. Replace batteries if the vehicle does not respond well.
Charging the Vehicle
The vehicle is powered by a permanently installed Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery that needs to be fully charged before first use.
- Ensure the vehicle is switched OFF [power-off].
- Open the charge port door and cover [charge port cover].
- Connect the included USB cable to the vehicle's [USB port] and a 5V/1000mAH USB charger (charger not included). A red LED on the power button will illuminate, indicating charging is in progress [charging indicator].
- The red LED will turn green when the battery is fully charged [fully charged indicator]. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.
- Once charged, disconnect the USB cable and close the port cover and door.
Battery Status Indicators:
- Charging: Red LED on the vehicle's power button.
- Fully Charged: Green LED on the vehicle's power button.
- Low Battery: Red LED on the remote controller flashes rapidly.
Important Tip: The battery may be hot after play. Allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before recharging.
Pairing the Remote Controller and Vehicle
Before operating, the remote controller and vehicle must be paired (synchronized).
- Press the vehicle's power button [power button] to turn it ON.
- Press the pairing button [pairing button] on the remote controller.
- Pairing is successful when the LED indicators on both the remote and the vehicle change from flashing green to solid green.
Note: If pairing fails (LEDs flash green rapidly), turn off the vehicle, press and hold the remote's pairing button to turn it off, and try pairing again.
Steering Alignment
Check the vehicle's steering alignment by driving it forward [forward]. If it veers left or right, use the alignment buttons on the remote controller to adjust the steering in the opposite direction until the vehicle drives straight.
How to Drive
The controls function the same way on land and in water. Drive on land, then steer directly into the water and continue driving.
Chomping Action: While driving, press the chomp button [chomp button] on the remote to activate the vehicle's chomping feature, which works on both land and water.
Driving Tips:
- Terrain: The vehicle is designed to transition between different terrains. If a transition is too steep or difficult, manually reposition the vehicle. Avoid tall grass patches that can tangle wheels.
- Snow: Turning performance in snow may vary based on depth and wetness. Tapping or pulsing the remote controls can help with turning.
- Water Operation: Operate only in calm, clear, shallow water (e.g., shallow ends of pools, shallow ponds). Avoid deep water. Ensure the vehicle stays close to the water's edge so it can return safely.
- Upside Down Driving: The vehicle can operate upside down in water. If it flips, turn it over and continue driving.
- Operating Range: The vehicle has an operating range of approximately 30 meters (100 ft) on land and 15 meters (50 ft) on water. If the vehicle goes beyond this range, the remote controller's LED will flash green, and control will be lost. Move closer to the vehicle to regain control. The range is reduced when operating upside down on water.
- Backward Driving: Remember that turning directions on the remote are reversed when driving in reverse [backward].
General Driving Environment Tips:
- Start with a fully charged battery for optimal performance.
- Avoid radio interference from other RC devices, electrical wires, large buildings, or CB radios.
- Point the remote controller upwards towards the vehicle [up].
- Do not store the vehicle near heat or in direct sunlight.
- After each use, clean the vehicle with a dry cloth, drain any water, and allow it to air-dry completely.
- If the vehicle or remote malfunctions due to static electricity, reset the remote by removing and reinserting batteries (5 seconds), and reset the vehicle by turning it OFF [power-off] and ON [power-on] again.
