2. Features
This section describes the main components of the Hot Wheels RC Car and its remote controller.
Remote Controller:
- Driving Controls: Joystick for forward/backward movement.
- LED Indicator: Shows status (e.g., pairing, power).
- Power Button: Turns the remote controller ON/OFF.
Vehicle:
- Driving Controls: Receives signals from the remote controller.
- LED Indicator: Shows status (e.g., charging, pairing).
- Battery Box: Compartment for remote controller batteries.
- Charge Port: For connecting the charging cable.
- Power Button: Turns the vehicle ON/OFF.
3. Set Up
A. Remote Controller Battery Installation
To install batteries in the remote controller:
- Unscrew the battery cover using a Phillips head screwdriver (not included).
- Insert 2 AA (LR6) 1.5V alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery compartment, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside. Alkaline batteries are recommended for longer life.
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw.
- Replace batteries if the remote controller's LED indicator does not light up during play or if the vehicle responds poorly after charging.
B. Charging the Vehicle
The vehicle is powered by a permanently installed Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery and must be fully charged before first use.
- Ensure the vehicle is switched OFF. If headlights are on, press the power button to turn the vehicle OFF.
- Connect one end of the charge cord to the vehicle's charge port and the other end to a 5V/1000 mAh USB charger (not included).
- Charging begins when the cord is connected. A [red LED indicator] on the vehicle will light up while charging.
- The [red LED indicator] will turn [green indicator light] when the vehicle is fully charged. Unplug the charge cord when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 120 minutes, but charging time may vary.
- Recharge the vehicle if it starts to run slowly or does not respond. If the vehicle's headlights flash for approximately 10 seconds, the battery is empty and the vehicle will shut off immediately, requiring a recharge.
NOTE: The vehicle's power must be OFF [power button in OFF position] when charging.
Tip: The battery may be hot after play. Wait at least 10 to 15 minutes for the battery to cool down before recharging.
C. Pairing the Remote Controller and Vehicle
To pair the remote controller with the vehicle:
- Turn the vehicle ON using its power button.
- After turning on the vehicle, push the remote controller's driving control joystick forward/backward.
- Pairing is complete when the vehicle's headlights and the remote controller's lights stop flashing and remain illuminated.
NOTE: If the vehicle's headlights and/or the remote controller LED do not stop flashing in approximately 30 seconds, switch the vehicle OFF, then back ON, and press the pairing button on the remote controller to try pairing again.
Tip: The vehicle enters sleep mode after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. To resume play, switch the vehicle OFF and ON again, then push the remote controller's driving control joystick forward/backward to re-pair.
4. How to Drive
Driving
To drive the vehicle forward, push the joystick forward. To drive backward, push the joystick backward.
Flip Action
While the vehicle is moving forward, quickly push the driving controls all the way down to perform a flip.
Off-Road Driving
This vehicle is designed for various driving environments.
Skill Check
Before operating, ensure:
- The vehicle is fully charged.
- The remote controller is equipped with fresh batteries.
- The remote controller is paired with the vehicle.
Important Note: Steering directions are reversed on the remote controller when driving backward.
5. Tips & Hints
- When the vehicle loses power, its functionality may decrease. Recharge the battery. For best performance, always start with a fully charged battery. Running time varies by driving style and environment.
- Radio interference (from other RC vehicles, electrical wires, large buildings, CB radios, or wireless devices) can affect performance. Try to avoid these sources.
- Point the remote controller antenna upwards, not downwards towards the vehicle. Keep the vehicle within range for proper operation.
- Do not store the vehicle near heat sources or in direct sunlight. Always turn switches OFF and remove all batteries from the remote controller before storage.
- Avoid driving in sand, water, or snow. Do not immerse the vehicle in water. If the vehicle gets wet, wipe it with a towel and allow it to dry completely overnight. If the remote controller accidentally falls into water, remove batteries and air dry. Replace batteries before operation.
- Electrostatic sources can cause the remote controller and/or vehicle to malfunction. To reset, remove and reinsert batteries (remote) or turn the vehicle OFF for 5 seconds and then ON again.
6. Safety Tips
- Play safely. Do not drive the vehicle in the street.
- Do NOT pick up the vehicle while it is in motion.
- Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from the wheels when the vehicle is switched ON.
- Adult supervision is recommended during operation.
- To prevent accidental operation, remove all batteries from the remote controller when not in use and switch the vehicle OFF before storage.
Battery Safety Information
Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
- Do not recharge a battery if it is hot; allow it to cool first.
- Do not recharge batteries showing leakage or corrosion.
- Do not disassemble the sealed Li-ion battery pack.
- If the battery pack or charging port is wet, dry thoroughly before charging.
- Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
- The Li-ion battery is not user-replaceable. It must be removed by a qualified professional for disposal according to local regulations.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
