Installation and Wiring Guide

Introduction

This document provides essential information for connecting and installing the LiftMaster CAPAC myQ Smart Access Hub. It includes safety warnings, power connection details, and wiring diagrams for various access control devices.

Connect Power

Safety Guidelines:

ℹ️ NOTE: In UL installations the CAPAC shall be powered from the power limited output of a UL 294 Listed power supply, a UL 603 Listed power supply, a UL 294 Listed access control unit or a UL 325 gate operator.

Terminal Block Layout:

The CAPAC features a terminal block with the following connections:

Additional ports include POWER and ETHERNET.

A "Terminal Block Power 12-24VDC" is shown connecting to the POWER terminals.

Gate Access Wiring

Primary Relay for Gate Operator:

Connect the Primary Relay terminals (Normally Open, Common, Normally Closed) to the Gate Operator. An "EXIT" connection is also indicated.

Refer to the Gate Operator manual for specific wiring details.

ℹ️ NOTE: For UL installations, only a UL 325 Listed Gate Operator may be connected to relay output 1 or 2.

Auxiliary Relay Configuration:

The Auxiliary Relay can be configured for:

Auxiliary Relay for Maglock:

A MAGLOCK device connects to these terminals.

Power for Maglock: (Not Provided) ? DO NOT use the power supply for the controller.

Status Monitoring:

A STATUS indicator is shown, connected to an EOL (End of Line) Resistor (1k ohm).

The GATE OPERATOR can connect to the Aux Closed Limit switch (refer to gate operator manual).

Door Access Wiring

⚠️ WARNING: ? DO NOT INSTALL THE SYSTEM IN THE FAIL SECURE MODE UNLESS PERMITTED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION. Doing so may cause interference with the operation of panic hardware.

Primary Relay for Door Strike or Maglock:

Power for Maglock (Not Provided) ? DO NOT use the power supply for the controller.

ℹ️ NOTE: For UL installations, only UL 294 Listed electric door strikes or UL 294 Listed Maglocks may be connected to relay output 1 or 2.

Supervised (Door Status) Connections:

These connections allow for monitoring of door status:

This section appears twice, labeled "SUPERVISED (DOOR STATUS) 1" and "SUPERVISED (DOOR STATUS) 2", indicating support for multiple door sensors.

Auxiliary Relay:

The Auxiliary Relay follows the same wiring schedule as the Primary Relay. It can be configured for LIGHT (via Low Voltage Power Supply, Isolation Relay, LOAD LINE, NEUTRAL) or ALARM BYPASS (COMMON, NORMALLY OPEN).

Wiegand Output

ℹ️ NOTE: Disconnect power BEFORE making electrical connections. The CAPAC will send the pre-assigned credential, configured via myQ Community, to the TES via the Wiegand output.

The CAPAC unit provides Wiegand output connections (Data-1, Ground, Data-0) for integration with third-party access systems (TES / Access Control Wiegand).

ℹ️ NOTE: For UL installations, only a Listed UL 294 access control unit may be connected to Wiegand output 1 or 2.

Compliance Information

FCC and Industry Canada Compliance:

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada license-exempt RSSs. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

This device must be installed to ensure a minimum 20 cm (8 in.) distance is maintained between users/bystanders and device.

This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
