A minimum clearance of 30" (76.2 cm) is required between the top of the cooking platform and the bottom of an uncovered wood or metal cabinet.
Electrical Requirements
[Electrical Hazard Warning] Electrical Shock Hazard
- Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not remove the ground prong.
- Do not use an adapter.
- Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
IMPORTANT: The range must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes and ordinances, or National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) or Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).
This range has an electronic ignition system that requires a properly polarized outlet to operate. If codes permit, a qualified electrician should verify the ground path adequacy for a separate ground wire.
Code standards can be obtained from:
- National Fire Protection Association
- CSA International
A 120 V, 60 Hz, AC only, 15 A fused, ground, and polarized electrical circuit is required. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. A separate circuit for this range is also recommended.
Electronic ignition systems operate within wide voltage limits, but proper grounding and polarity are essential. Verify the outlet provides 120 V and is correctly grounded.
This gas range is not required to be plugged into a GFCI outlet. However, plugging into a GFCI outlet may cause nuisance tripping due to the normal operation of electronic ignition systems.
The tech sheet and wiring diagram are located on the back of the range.
NOTE: The metal chassis of the range must be grounded for the control panel to function. If not grounded, no keypads will operate. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure about grounding.
Gas Supply Requirements
[Explosion Hazard Warning] Explosion Hazard
- Use a new CSA International approved gas supply line.
- Install a shut-off valve.
- Securely tighten all gas connections.
- If connected to propane, ensure gas pressure does not exceed 14" (36 cm) water column, verified by a qualified person.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, explosion, or fire.
IMPORTANT: Installation must conform with all local codes and ordinances, including the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) or, in Canada, the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code (CSA B149.1).
IMPORTANT: Leak testing must be conducted per manufacturer instructions. Refer to the "Make gas connection" section.
Type of Gas
This range is factory-set for Natural Gas. Check the model/serial/rating plate for available gas types. If your gas type is not listed, consult your local gas supplier.
Propane Gas Conversion: Conversion must be performed by a qualified service technician.
Gas Supply Line
Provide a rigid gas supply line of ¾" (1.9 cm) to the range location. For propane, a ½" (1.3 cm) minimum pipe or tubing size may be used. Consult your propane supplier for recommended materials and sizing.
NOTE: Use pipe-joint compounds resistant to propane gas. Do not use TEFLON® tape.
Flexible Metal Appliance Connector
If local codes permit, a CSA-certified flexible metal appliance connector (4-5 ft long, ½" or ¾" ID) may be used for connecting the range to the gas supply line.
A ½" (13 mm) male pipe thread is needed for connection to the appliance pressure regulator's female inlet threads.
Do not kink or damage the flexible metal tubing when moving the range.
Rigid Pipe Connection
Use pipe fittings for an in-line connection. The rigid pipe must be level with the range connection. Remove all strains from supply and fuel lines to ensure the range is level and aligned.
Shut-off Valve: Install a manual gas line shut-off valve in an easily accessible location. Do not block access to the valve. The valve is for turning the gas supply on or off.
Diagram Description: A diagram shows a gas supply line (A) connected to a shut-off valve (B) in the "open" position, leading to the range (C).
Gas Pressure Regulator
Use the supplied gas pressure regulator. Inlet pressure requirements for proper operation are:
- Natural Gas: Minimum pressure: 5" (12.7 cm) WCP; Maximum pressure: 14" (35.5 cm) WCP.
- Propane Gas: Minimum pressure: 11" (27.9 cm) WCP; Maximum pressure: 14" (35.5 cm) WCP.
Contact your local gas supplier if unsure about inlet pressure.
Burner Input Requirements
Input ratings shown on the model/serial/rating plate are for elevations up to 2,000 ft (609.6 m). For elevations above 2,000 ft, ratings are reduced by 4% for each 1,000 ft above sea level (not applicable for Canada).
Gas Supply Pressure Testing
Test regulator gas supply pressure must be at least 1" (2.5 cm) water column pressure above the manifold pressure shown on the model/serial/rating plate.
- Line pressure testing above ½ psi (3.5 kPa) gauge [14" (35.5 cm) WCP]: Disconnect the range and its shutoff valve from the gas supply piping system during testing at pressures exceeding ½ psi (3.5 kPa).
- Line pressure testing at ½ psi (3.5 kPa) gauge [14" (35.5 cm) WCP] or lower: Isolate the range by closing its manual shutoff valve during testing at pressures equal to or less than ½ psi (3.5 kPa).
