Location Requirements
IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Do not obstruct flow of combustion and ventilation air.
- Installer is responsible for complying with installation clearances specified on the model/serial/rating plate (located behind the oven door).
- Range should be located for convenient use.
- Recessed installations must provide complete enclosure of sides and rear.
- All openings in the wall or floor must be sealed.
- Use specified cabinet opening dimensions (minimum clearances).
- Anti-tip bracket must be installed (refer to "Install Anti-Tip Bracket" section).
- Grounded electrical supply is required (see "Electrical Requirements").
- Proper gas supply connection must be available (see "Gas Supply Requirements").
- Floor covering must withstand at least 200°F (93°C).
- Use an insulated pad or 1/4" (6.4 mm) plywood under the range if installing over carpeting.
- To avoid cabinet damage, verify materials with builder/supplier. Oven designed to comply with UL/CSA International and maximum allowable wood cabinet temperatures of 194°F (90°C).
Mobile Home Installations
Installation must conform to Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280, or ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A, or local codes. In Canada, conform to CAN/CSA-Z240.1 or local codes.
- Range must be secured according to instructions.
- Any securing method is adequate if it conforms to standards.
Cabinet Dimensions
Cabinet opening dimensions are for a 25" (64.0 cm) countertop depth, 24" (61.0 cm) base cabinet depth, and 36" (91.4 cm) countertop height.
IMPORTANT: For range hood or microwave hood installations above the cooking surface, follow their specific installation instructions for clearances.
Diagram shows cabinet cut-out dimensions. Key dimensions include:
- A: Minimum clearance to top of cooktop (see NOTE*).
- B: 13" (33 cm) maximum upper cabinet depth.
- C: 30" (76.2 cm) minimum opening width.
- D: 18" (45.7 cm) upper side cabinet to countertop.
- E: 30" (76.2 cm) minimum opening width.
- F: Shaded areas recommended for rigid gas pipe installation.
- G: 4 1/2" (11.4 cm)
- H: 8" (20.3 cm)
- I: 17" (43.2 cm)
- J: 2" (5.1 cm)
- K: 4 1/2" (11.4 cm)
- L: 5" (12.7 cm) minimum clearance from range sides to side wall or combustible material.
- M: Grounded outlet.
- N: Cabinet door/hinges must not extend into cutout.
*NOTE: 24" (61.0 cm) minimum clearance if cabinet bottom is protected by flame-retardant millboard and metal sheeting. 30" (76.2 cm) minimum clearance for uncovered wood/metal cabinets.
Electrical Requirements
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard
- Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not remove ground prong.
- Do not use an adapter.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
IMPORTANT: Grounding must comply with local codes or National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) or Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).
The electronic ignition system requires proper polarization.
If codes permit a separate ground wire, a qualified electrician should verify its adequacy.
Standards can be obtained from: National Fire Protection Association, CSA International.
- Requires a 120 V, 60 Hz, AC only, 15 A fused, grounded, and polarized electrical circuit. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. A separate circuit for the range is recommended.
- Electronic ignition systems operate within wide voltage limits, but proper grounding and polarity are essential. Verify outlet provides 120 V and is correctly grounded.
- GFCI outlet is not required. Plugging into a GFCI outlet is not recommended as it may cause nuisance tripping.
NOTE: The metal chassis must be grounded for the control panel to function. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
Gas Supply Requirements
WARNING: Explosion Hazard
- Use a new CSA International approved gas supply line.
- Install a shut-off valve.
- Securely tighten all gas connections.
- For propane, ensure gas pressure does not exceed 14" (36 cm) water column, verified by a qualified person.
- Failure to comply can result in death, explosion, or fire.
Comply with all codes and ordinances. Installation must conform to National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) or Canadian codes (CSA B149.1).
IMPORTANT: Leak testing must be conducted per manufacturer instructions.
Type of Gas
The range is factory set for Natural Gas. Check the model/serial/rating plate for gas type information. Consult local gas supplier if needed.
Propane Gas Conversion
Conversion must be done by a qualified service technician. Do not convert without consulting the gas supplier.
Gas Supply Line
- Use a 3/4" (1.9 cm) rigid pipe for the gas supply line. For propane, 1/2" (1.3 cm) minimum tubing size may be used. Gas suppliers typically determine size and materials.
- Use pipe-joint compounds resistant to propane gas. Do not use TEFLON® tape.
Flexible Metal Appliance Connector
If local codes permit, a CSA certified flexible metal connector (4-5 ft long, 1/2" or 3/4" ID) may be used.
- Requires a 1/2" male pipe thread connection.
- Do not kink or damage flexible tubing.
Rigid Pipe Connection
Use pipe fittings for an in-line connection. Rigid pipe must be level with the range connection. Remove all strains from supply and fuel lines.
Shut-off Valve
Install a manual gas line shut-off valve in an easily accessible location. It is for turning gas on/off.
Diagram shows gas supply line (A), shut-off valve (B) in open position, and connection to range (C).
Gas Pressure Regulator
Use the supplied gas pressure regulator. Inlet pressure requirements:
- Natural Gas: Minimum 5" WCP, Maximum 14" WCP.
- Propane Gas: Minimum 11" WCP, Maximum 14" WCP.
Contact local gas supplier if unsure about inlet pressure.
Burner Input Requirements
Ratings shown are for elevations up to 2,000 ft (609.6 m). For higher elevations, ratings are reduced by 4% per 1,000 ft.
Gas Supply Pressure Testing
Test regulator pressure must be at least 1" WCP above manifold pressure.
- Testing above 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa): Disconnect range and shut-off valve from system.
- Testing at 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa) or lower: Isolate range by closing manual shut-off valve.
