Asus X54C HDD, RAM Memory Replacement

Introduction

This guide provides instructions on how to replace or upgrade the Hard Disk Drive (HDD), RAM memory, and Wi-Fi module in ASUS X54C, X54H, X54L, and X54HR laptop models.

Tools Required

Phillips #0 Screwdriver (1)
iFixit Opening Tools (1)

Step 1: Battery Removal

Disconnect the charger and switch off the laptop.
Locate the two keys that secure the battery. Slide these keys to unlock and remove the battery.

Step 2: HDD Cover Removal

Locate and remove the two Phillips screws securing the HDD cover on the bottom of the laptop.
Carefully remove the HDD cover.

Step 3: HDD Removal

The HDD caddy is secured by three Phillips screws. Remove these three screws.
Use the black tape near the SATA connector to slide and remove the HDD assembly from its bay.
To remove the hard disk drive from the HDD caddy, unscrew the two Phillips screws holding it in place.

Step 4: Memory and Wi-Fi Module

There is one expansion slot available for a memory module.
Compatible memory specifications: SO DIMM 204-pin, DDR3 SDRAM, 1333 MHz.
The Wi-Fi card is also located under the HDD cover.
