Remove the doors from your old refrigerator or freezer.
Failure to follow this instruction can result in death or brain damage.
Before discarding your old refrigerator or freezer:
- Remove the doors.
- Leave the shelves in place so children cannot easily get inside.
IMPORTANT: Child suffocation is not a problem of the past. Discarded and abandoned refrigerators are a hazard, even if they will be left there for "a few days". If you are discarding your old refrigerator, please follow the instructions below to prevent accidents.
UNPACKING AND LOCATION INSTRUCTIONS
Unpack the Freezer
WARNING: Excessive Weight Hazard
Move and install the freezer between two or more people. Failure to do so may result in back or other injuries.
How to Remove Packaging Materials
- Remove tape and tape residue from surfaces before turning on the freezer. Apply a small amount of liquid dish soap to your fingers to remove adhesive. Wipe with warm water and dry.
- Remove the 4 spacers located between the door and the appliance.
- Ensure the defrost water drain plug (if included) is correctly placed.
- Do not use sharp objects, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or adhesive. These products can damage your freezer's surface. For more information, see the "Freezer Safety" section.
How to Move Your Freezer
The freezer is heavy. When moving the freezer for cleaning or service, be sure to cover the floor with cardboard or thick protection to avoid damaging the floor. Always pull the freezer straight when moving it. Do not shake or "walk" the freezer when moving it, as this can damage the floor.
Cleaning Before Use
Once you have removed all packaging materials, clean the interior of your freezer before using it. See cleaning instructions in "Freezer Care".
Important Information Regarding Glass Shelves and Covers
Do not clean glass shelves or covers with hot water when they are cold. Shelves and covers can break if exposed to sudden temperature changes or impacts like bumps.
Tempered glass is designed to break into many small pieces. This is normal. Glass shelves and covers are heavy. Use both hands when moving shelves to prevent them from falling accidentally.
Location Requirements
WARNING: Explosion Hazard
Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as gasoline, away from the freezer. Failure to follow instructions may result in death, explosion, or fire.
IMPORTANT: This freezer is designed for use in a dry, ventilated environment.
To ensure proper ventilation for your refrigerator, allow at least 7 cm (2.75") of space on both sides and between the back of the freezer and the wall.
Diagram shows a freezer with 7cm spacing indicated on the sides and back.
NOTE: This freezer is designed for use in locations where temperature ranges vary between a minimum of 50°F (10°C) and 110°F (43°C). Level the freezer from side to side and front to back so that the lid seals correctly. Use shims to level the freezer if necessary.
The lid should not need to be removed during installation. If, for any reason, the hinges need adjustment, contact a designated service company. After the appliance is installed, wait at least two hours before starting it so the refrigeration circuit can reach optimal efficiency. Ensure installation and electrical connection are performed by a qualified technician according to the manufacturer's instructions and local safety standards. Place the baskets (on some models).
Your product contains cyclopentane, which is advanced, environmentally friendly technology with low impact.
NOTE: Do not cover the freezer with items such as sheets, blankets, tablecloths, etc. This reduces air circulation.
INSTALLATION
Refer to the "BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE" section.
- Remove the appliance from the packaging.
- Remove the 4 spacers placed between the door and the appliance.
WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard
Connect to a 3-terminal outlet. Do not remove the ground terminal. Do not use an adapter. Do not use an extension cord. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electric shock.
Before moving the freezer to its final location, it is important to ensure the electrical connection is correct.
Recommended Grounding Method
A 127V~, 60 Hz, 15 or 20 A electrical source with a fuse or circuit breaker is required. It is recommended to use a separate circuit that serves only the freezer. Use an outlet that cannot be turned off by a switch. Do not use an electrical extension cord.
NOTE: Before performing any installation, cleaning, or replacing the door light bulb (for some models), disconnect the freezer from the electrical network.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Diagram shows a freezer with labeled parts: A. Handle, B. Latch (model dependent), C. Gasket, D. Defrost drain plug (model dependent), E. Control panel, F. Basket (model dependent), G. Condenser (located at the back).
Diagram shows a close-up of the control panel with numbered indicators: 1. Thermostat, 2. Red LED, 3. Green LED, 4. Fast Freeze button.
Starting the Appliance
- The appliance comes from the factory set to freeze optimally at -18 °C.
- Plug in the appliance.
- The green LEDs (if present) will turn on.
- The red LED (if present) will also turn on because the appliance's internal temperature is not yet low enough to store food. The red LED will normally turn off after the first six hours after turning on the appliance.
- After connecting the appliance to the electrical network and when the optimal temperature has been reached (this phase usually takes 1 hour, during which the lid should not be opened), ensure the Fast Freeze button is not pressed (the yellow LED, if present, is off).
- Introduce food into the appliance only when the red LED (if present) has turned off.
- Since the gasket seals tightly, the appliance lid cannot be opened immediately after closing it. Wait a few minutes before opening the appliance lid again.
Temperature Adjustment
Select the correct temperature using the thermostat. This appliance can be used as a freezer or a refrigerator interchangeably.
USING AS FREEZER
To use it as a freezer, set the thermostat to the "freezer" position. In this case, the appliance should be used to store frozen foods, freeze fresh foods, and make ice. The internal temperature can be adjusted between -14 °C and -22 °C (depending on ambient conditions, this range may vary slightly).
USING AS REFRIGERATOR
To use it as a refrigerator, set the thermostat to the "cooler" position. In this case, the appliance should be used to store fresh foods and beverages. The internal temperature can be adjusted between 0°C and +6°C (depending on ambient conditions, this range may vary slightly).
To turn off the appliance, set the thermostat to the OFF position. In this case, the product is still connected to the electrical supply.
IMPORTANT: When using the appliance as a refrigerator, ensure the Fast Freeze function is not activated to prevent bottles from breaking.
IF THE APPLIANCE IS NOT IN USE
Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply. Then empty it, defrost it (if necessary), and clean it. Leave the door open to allow air circulation inside the compartments. This will prevent mold formation, bad odors, and oxidation (blackening) of the interior walls.
Before changing the freezer to refrigerator use:
- Ensure there is no food inside the cavity to avoid unwanted thawing of food.
- Defrost and clean the appliance to prevent stagnant water at the bottom.
Note: If humidity levels are high, condensation may form inside the appliance on both the walls and the bottom of the compartment. This is completely normal and does not pose any danger to the appliance's operation. In this case, we recommend closing any container holding liquid (e.g., broth) and wrapping foods with high liquid content (e.g., vegetables).
IMPORTANT: When using the appliance as a refrigerator, ensure the Fast Freeze function is not activated to prevent bottles from breaking.
CONSERVATION OF FROZEN FOODS
Before placing frozen foods in the cavity, ensure the appliance is set to freezer mode (refer to "Temperature Adjustment" paragraph) and that the red light is not on.
BEFORE CHANGING FROM REFRIGERATOR TO FREEZER USE, ENSURE THERE IS NO FOOD OR BOTTLES INSIDE THE CAVITY TO AVOID UNWANTED FREEZING OF FOOD OR BREAKAGE OF BOTTLES.
Table shows food classification by months: 1-3 months, 4-7 months, 8-12 months, with icons representing food items.
Place foods in the freezer properly classified; the storage date should be indicated on the packages to consume them before the expiration date.
Tips for Storing Frozen Foods
- When buying frozen foods: Check that the packaging is not damaged (foods frozen in damaged packaging may have deteriorated). If the packaging is swollen or shows moisture stains, it may not have been stored in optimal conditions and the thawing process may have already begun.
- When shopping, leave frozen foods for last and use a thermal bag for transport.
- When you get home, place the frozen foods in the appliance immediately.
- Avoid or minimize temperature variations. Respect the expiration date on the packaging.
- Always consider the storage information indicated on the packaging.
Notes:
- Consume thawed foods immediately, either completely or partially.
- Do not refreeze foods unless they have been cooked after thawing. Once cooked, thawed foods can be refrozen.
- If there is a prolonged power outage: Do not open the appliance lid except to place cold accumulators (if available) on the frozen foods on the right and left sides of the appliance. This will help delay the temperature increase.
FREEZING FOOD
Before placing foods in the cavity to freeze, ensure the appliance is set to freezer mode (refer to the "Temperature Adjustment" paragraph) and that the red light is not on.
Preparation of Fresh Foods for Freezing
- Before freezing fresh foods, wrap them to ensure they are well sealed with: aluminum foil, plastic wrap, airtight plastic bags, polyethylene containers with lids, provided they are suitable for freezing foods.
- Foods should be fresh, at their peak ripeness, and of the highest quality to achieve high-quality frozen foods.
- Fresh vegetables and fruits should be frozen immediately after harvesting to maintain their full nutritional value, consistency, color, and original flavor.
- Always cool hot foods before placing them in the appliance.
Freezing Fresh Foods
- Place foods to be frozen in direct contact with the appliance's vertical walls: A. unfrozen foods, B. already frozen foods.
Diagram shows two sections labeled A and B within a freezer compartment, indicating placement of unfrozen and frozen foods.
- Avoid placing foods to be frozen directly in contact with already frozen foods.
- For better and faster freezing, it is recommended to divide foods into small portions; this will also be useful when using the frozen foods.
- At least 24 hours before storing fresh food in the appliance, press the "fast freeze" button. For appliances without this button, turn the thermostat clockwise towards the coldest position.
- Place the food to be frozen and keep the appliance lid closed for 24 hours. At the end of this period, turn off the "fast freeze" button (if applicable) or turn the thermostat back to the original position.
DEFROSTING THE APPLIANCE
WARNING: Explosion Hazard
Use non-flammable cleaners. Failure to comply may result in death, explosion, or fire.
The appliance should be defrosted when the ice thickness on the walls reaches 5-6 mm.
- Unplug the appliance from the electrical network.
- Remove food packages from the appliance and wrap them together in newspaper, storing them in a very cold place or in an insulated bag.
- Leave the appliance lid open.
- Remove the internal defrost drain plug (if applicable to the model).
- Remove the external defrost drain plug (if applicable to the model) and replace it as shown in the figure.
Diagram shows a freezer interior with a drain plug and a water collection bowl being placed underneath.
- Place a bowl under the drain outlet to collect residual water. If your model includes it, use the separator.
- Accelerate defrosting by using a spatula to dislodge ice from the appliance walls.
- Remove ice from the bottom of the appliance.
- To avoid permanent damage to the appliance interior, do not use sharp or pointed metal instruments to remove ice.
- Do not use abrasive products or artificially heat the interior.
