Installation of Laser Modules
Follow these steps to install the laser module:
Step 1: Initial Mounting
Start by installing the right long snap into the corresponding long slot on the mounting bracket. This secures the initial position of the module.
Step 2: Securing the Module
Once the long snap is secured, press firmly on the left side of the module assembly to bring the short snap into its designated short slot. It is important to press the position indicated by an arrow, rather than pressing the short snap directly, to avoid potential breakage.
Step 3: Attaching to X-axis
Attach the laser module to the x-axis integration part. Tighten the hand screws to secure the module. Note that loosening these hand screws allows for vertical adjustment of the laser module's position.
Step 4: Connecting the Cable
Connect the laser cable to the laser module's port.
Adjustment Focus
Proper focus is crucial for optimal laser engraving. Use the following procedure:
Place the focusing rod on the surface of the material you intend to engrave. Loosen the screw that secures the laser module and lower the module until the focusing rod just touches the material. Once the rod is touching, retract the focusing rod and then re-tighten the securing screw to lock the laser module at the correct height.
Laser Module Maintenance
If the laser module has not been used for an extended period, or if it has been used for more than 4 hours consecutively, it is recommended to clean the lens. Use medical alcohol and a cotton swab for cleaning. Failure to maintain a clean lens can weaken laser power and potentially damage the laser module.
Replacement Lens
To replace the lens:
First, remove the existing lens. This typically involves loosening the threaded compression tabs that hold the lens in place. When installing a new lens, ensure that both the lens and its retaining parts (like the compression tabs) are seated flat before tightening the tabs. This is critical to prevent damage to the lens.
Using Air Pump
An air pump system can be connected to improve engraving quality by clearing debris and preventing flare-ups. The setup involves:
- Inserting the air hose into the airflow regulator and pipe connector.
- Connecting the air pump to the air hose. The throttle valve within the air hose or regulator controls the airflow.
- Attaching the air nozzle to the laser module to direct the airflow precisely.
Ensure the air hose is fully inserted into its connectors before operation.
