Installation Dimensions and Preparations (Sheet 1)

This section details the critical dimensions and hole preparations required for installing the concealed vertical rod device onto a door stile.

Latch Case and Device Mounting

Minimum Latch Case Width: 1 3/8 inches
Latch Case Width: 11/16 inches
Distance from Stile Edge to Latch Case Center: 7/8 inches
Distance from Top/Bottom of Latch Case to Stile Edge: 2 inches
Vertical Positioning (Latch Case Application): 39 5/8 inches from the finished floor.
Stop Height: 7/16 inches from the stile edge.

Hole Preparations

#10-24 TAP, 4 HOLES: Located 7/8 inches from the edge, 7/16 inches from the top/bottom.
1/2" DIA. HOLE: For ratchet release, to be prepared at installation.
#10-24 TAP THRU REINFORCING ONLY: 8 places, positioned 33 inches from the finished floor.
#10-24 TAP, 2 HOLES: For frame at the top.

Reinforcing and Door Edge

8 GAGE REINFORCING: Two places, 1 1/16 inches from the stile edge. Reinforcing is noted as required.
Front Panel Cutout Edges: Edges must be rolled over all around four sides and corners to prevent sharp edges.

Spacers and Undercuts

Spacer Requirement: A 1/2 inch spacer is required full width under the mounting pads for doors that are 2 1/4 inches thick.
Undercut Requirement: A 1/4 inch undercut is required for this device.

Strike Application

Refer to 385-A or 304-L strike application details.

Orientation Note

The diagram shows the Left Hand Reverse (LHR) configuration; the Right Hand Reverse (RHR) configuration is opposite.

Clearance and Side View (Sheet 2)

This section provides a cross-sectional view of the door stile, illustrating clearance requirements.

Clearance Requirement: Provide opening clearance at the hinge side for a 1" x 2" x 2 1/2" control box for the "EL" device.

Key dimensions shown in this view include door thickness references: (4"), (1"), 5/8", 5/32", and (1/4").

The diagram labels indicate the "FRONT OF DOOR" and a "SEAT" for the device.
