2. Description
Gas detection
Table 1 shows gas concentration levels that trigger an alarm. Prealarm is indicated for DG-1 LPG and DG-1 ME detectors.
DG-1 CO | DG-1 LPG | DG-1 ME | DG-1 TCM | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gas concentration to generate alarm | 50 ppm for 75 minutes 100 ppm for 25 minutes 300 ppm for 1 minute |
20% lower explosive limit | 6000 ppm CHCl3 | |
Gas concentration to generate prealarm | - | 10% lower explosive limit | 10% lower explosive limit | - |
Note: The DG-1 TCM detector is not selective. It may alarm due to vapors from paints, lacquers, alcohol, organic compounds (e.g., refrigerants like freon, tetrafluoroethane, chlorodifluoromethane), or even cat urine.
Alarm signaling
Alarm is indicated by:
- Turning on the alarm output
- Flashing of the LED indicator
- Intermittent beep sound
Alarm signaling stops when gas concentration drops below the hazardous level. Sensor reaction delay means signaling may continue for a few minutes after the gas level decreases.
Prealarm signaling
For DG-1 LPG and DG-1 ME detectors, prealarm is indicated by:
- Flashing of the LED indicator
- Intermittent beep sound
The alarm output remains off during prealarm. Prealarm signaling stops when the gas concentration drops below the 10% lower explosive limit.
Trouble
The detector reports trouble when:
- The gas sensor is faulty (not applicable to DG-1 CO).
- Supply voltage is below 9 V (±5%) for more than 2 seconds.
Trouble signaling
Trouble is indicated by:
- Turning on the alarm output
- Flashing of the LED indicator
- Intermittent beep sound
Trouble signaling continues as long as the condition persists.
LED indicator
LED colors vary by detector model:
- DG-1 CO: Red
- DG-1 LPG: Green
- DG-1 ME: Yellow
- DG-1 TCM: Blue
The LED indicates:
- Warm-up: 3 short flashes
- Alarm: Flashing (1 second ON, 1 second OFF)
- Prealarm: Short flash every 2 seconds (0.25 second ON, 1.75 seconds OFF)
- Trouble: Rapid flashing (0.25 second ON, 0.25 second OFF)
Sounder
The sounder indicates:
- Warm-up: 3 short beeps
- Alarm: Intermittent beep sound (1 second ON, 1 second OFF)
- Prealarm: Short beep every 2 seconds (0.25 second ON, 1.75 seconds OFF)
- Trouble: Rapid intermittent beep sound (0.25 second ON, 0.25 second OFF)
Note: The sounder can be disabled by removing the jumper from the BUZ ON/OFF pins.
3. Electronics board
Figure 1 shows the internal components of the gas detector.
- (1) Terminals: NC (alarm output, NC relay), TMP (tamper output, NC), COM (common ground), 12V (power input).
Note: The detector's alarm output must be connected to a permanently armed zone in the alarm system. - (2) LED indicator
- (3) Sounder
- (4) Gas sensor: Sensor shape varies by detector model.
- (5) Tamper protection: Protects against enclosure opening.
- (6) Screw: Secures the electronics board.
- (7) Pins for sounder control: Jumper ON enables the sounder; Jumper OFF disables it.
4. Tips for installation
- Install the detector indoors in spaces with normal air humidity. Do not install outdoors.
- DG-1 TCM and DG-1 LPG detectors should be installed low, near the floor.
- DG-1 ME detectors should be installed high, near the ceiling.
- DG-1 CO detectors should be installed at approximately 1.5 meters height.
- Avoid installing the detector in areas where lacquers, glues, paint removers, or aerosols are used, as this can negatively affect sensor operation.
- Installation in spaces with working industrial equipment is not recommended.
5. Installation
Caution: Disconnect power before making any electrical connections.
- Turn the enclosure cover clockwise and remove it (See Figure 2).
- Drill holes for screws and the cable in the enclosure base (See Figure 3).
- Position the enclosure base against the wall and mark mounting hole locations.
- Drill holes for wall plugs. Use provided plugs for concrete/brick; select appropriate plugs for other surfaces (e.g., drywall).
- Feed the cable through the enclosure base hole.
- Secure the enclosure base to the wall using screws.
- Connect wires to the corresponding terminals.
- Remove the jumper from the BUZ ON/OFF pins to disable acoustic signaling if desired.
- Replace the detector cover, aligning marks on the cover and base, then turn counter-clockwise (See Figure 4).
- Power up the detector. Start-up is indicated by three LED flashes and three short beeps.
Caution: Do not test the detector using improvised methods, such as lighter gas. During operation, the gas sensor heats up. The DG-1 TCM detector stabilizes for the first five minutes after power-up and may indicate an alarm during this period.
