Sending a Message
- To Send a Message: Select "Send Message" from the message main menu, then press the Function button [F]. The top of your display screen reads "Send To:".
- Enter the phone number or e-mail address you are sending the message to.
- To send to multiple cell phone users, press the down arrow key [⬇️] on your menu/cursor key.
- When finished entering the phone number or e-mail address, select "OK" on the display screen by clicking the double bar key [OK].
- The top of your display screen reads "Enter Text:". Use the keypad letters to type your message.
- [space key] - This represents the space key and is found in the lower right-hand corner of the phone.
- T9® - When entering text, press the single bar key once to enter T9® mode. The CDM9155 uses T9® text input for easier message composition. T9® uses a built-in dictionary; press each key once, and T9® will predict the word. For example, to type "hello", press [4][3][5][5][6] once each.
- After the message is completed, hit the double bar key [OK] to click on "OK". The top of your display now reads "Send Message".
- Using your menu/cursor key, you have options to:
- Edit Send To: Edit the recipient's number or address.
- Edit Text: Edit the message text.
- Priority: Mark the message as "Urgent".
- Call Back #: Temporarily change your call back number for the current message.
- Delivery Ack: Temporarily change acknowledgment mode for the current message.
- Enhanced Ack: When the message is received, the phone displays "Delivered."
- Save to Outbox: Save the message as a draft and exit the messaging feature.
- The sending mail icon appears with animation. You will also get confirmation after your mail has been sent.
Receiving a Message
- To Check Received Messages: Press the envelope key [✉️]. From the list displayed, select "Inbox". If you have new messages, a "*" symbol will appear and flash to the right of the Inbox. If it does not appear, it means you have no inbox messages.
- If you have messages, use your menu/cursor key to highlight "Inbox" (press the down arrow key [⬇️]) and then select "Inbox" by pressing the Function key [F]. (A shortcut to the Inbox: Press and hold the envelope key [✉️] for about 3 seconds.)
- The Inbox lists the received messages with the sender name (if programmed in your phone book) or number.
- If there is more than one message, use your menu/cursor key to scroll the list of sender names or numbers. The icon symbols on the left-hand side of the display determine what kind of message you have stored:
- New text that you have not viewed yet: [new text icon]
- Old text that you have already viewed: [viewed text icon]
- Urgent new text: [urgent new text icon]
- Urgent old text: [urgent old text icon]
- The top of your display now reads "Inbox" and shows the icon symbol for new text along with the sender number or name. Press the Function key [F] to move to the next step.
- The top of your display now reads "*New Text*" and underneath you can see the date and time the message was sent. The bottom of the display shows "Option OK". The darker bottom arrow means you can use the down arrow key [⬇️] on the menu/cursor to scroll down to see who the message is from. Hitting the down arrow key [⬇️] again accesses the message.
- After reading the message, pressing the single bar key provides access to four options: Reply, Forward, Erase, Save Address.
- Reply: Highlight "Reply" and press the Function button [F] to reply. This is the same format as sending a message.
- Forward: Highlight "Forward" and press the Function button [F] to forward the message to anyone who is a capable receiver. This is the same format as sending a message.
- Erase: Highlight "Erase", press [F], highlight "YES", and press the Function button [F] or the double bar key [OK] to confirm. A confirmation message appears confirming the text message has been erased.
- Save Address: With this option, you can save the sender's address, call back number, or both in your phonebook.
