Riding Your Firefly
FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY PRECAUTIONS CAN LEAD TO DAMAGE, VOID WARRANTY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND DEATH.
Familiarize yourself with operating procedures before use.
Operating Your Device:
Ensure Firefly is fully charged. Stand behind device, place one foot on mat, keep weight on that foot. Shift weight to the first foot, then step on with the second foot quickly and evenly.
? NOTES: Stay relaxed, step on confidently. Imagine climbing stairs. Look up. Vibration/spinning on one mat is normal.
Find your center of gravity. Correct weight distribution allows stable standing.
It takes 3-5 minutes to get comfortable standing and maintaining balance. A spotter can help.
The Firefly is intuitive; focus on your desired direction to move, accelerate, decelerate, or stop. Your center of gravity dictates movement.
To turn, focus on the direction and stay relaxed.
⚠️ WARNING: Do not turn sharply or at high speeds. Do not turn or ride quickly on slopes.
As you gain comfort, maneuvering becomes easier. At higher speeds, shift weight to overcome centrifugal force.
Bend knees on bumps/uneven surfaces, then dismount and carry to a safe surface.
Diagrams show: Move Backward, Stop, Move Forward.
Dismounting
Dismounting incorrectly can cause falls. From a stopped position, lift one leg, step back onto the ground, then step off completely.
⚠️ WARNING: Lift leg completely off the foot mat to clear the device when stepping back. Failure to do so may cause the Firefly to tailspin.
Weight and Speed Limitations:
- Maximum Weight: 220 lbs
- Minimum Weight: 44 lbs
- Maximum Speed: Up to 7 mph
Operating Range
The Firefly can travel up to 6 miles on a full charge in ideal conditions. Factors affecting range include:
- Terrain: Smooth, flat surfaces provide longest distance. Uphill/rough terrain reduces distance.
- Weight: Lighter users have further range.
- Ambient Temperature: Ride and store within recommended temperatures for better range, battery life, and performance.
- Speed and Riding Style: Moderate, consistent speed maximizes distance. High speeds, frequent stops/starts, idling, and rapid acceleration/deceleration decrease range.
⚠️ WARNING: Overweight exertion may increase injury or product damage risk.
? NOTES: At max speed, Firefly beeps and tilts rider back.
Balance & Calibration
If your Firefly is unbalanced, vibrating, or not turning properly, follow these calibration steps:
- Place Firefly on a flat, horizontal surface. Foot mats should be even. Ensure charger is unplugged and board is off.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 15 seconds. The scooter will turn on, lighting the battery indicator.
- Turn the board off, then turn it back on. Press the power button twice. Calibration is complete.
Safety Alerts
If a system error or illegal operation occurs, the device will prompt the user. The Running Indicator Light will turn RED, and a beep sound will alert you to cease operation.
These alerts should not be ignored. Take appropriate action to correct issues.
Common occurrences for Safety Alerts:
- Unsafe riding surfaces (uneven, steep, unsafe).
- Platform tilted more than 10 degrees forward or backward when stepped on.
- Battery voltage is too low.
- Device is still charging.
- Platform self-tilts due to excess speed.
- Overheating or high motor temperature.
- Device rocking back and forth for over 30 seconds.
- System enters protection mode (alarm indicator lights up, board vibrates) when battery is low.
- Platform tilted forward/backward >10 degrees: Firefly powers off, potentially causing rider to fall.
- Tires blocked: Device stops after 2 seconds.
- Battery level depleted below protection mode: Engine powers off after 15 seconds.
- Sustaining high discharge current (e.g., driving up a steep slope): Engine powers off after 15 seconds.
⚠️ WARNING: When Firefly turns off during a Safety Alert, all systems halt. Do not continue riding. Turn Firefly off and back on to unlock from Safety Lock.
Charging Your Firefly
Charging the Device:
- Ensure charging port is clean and dry, with no dust or debris.
- Plug charger into a grounded wall outlet. Charger indicator light should be green.
- Connect the cable with the power supply (100-240V; 50/60 Hz).
- Align and connect the 3-pin charging cable to the Firefly's charging port. DO NOT FORCE OR BEND THE CABLE.
- Charger indicator light should turn RED when charging.
- When RED indicator turns GREEN, the device is fully charged.
- A full charge may take up to 5 hours. A yellow flashing light on the scooter also indicates charging. Do not charge for more than 6 hours.
- After charging, unplug the charger from the device and outlet.
Battery Care / Maintenance:
Battery Specifications: Type: Rechargeable Lithium-ion, Charge Time: Up to 5 hours, Voltage: 25.2 V, Initial Capacity: 4.0AH.
