Before Riding

It is important to understand all elements of your Firefly for proper control. Practice using elements at slower speeds in a flat, open area.

Pre-Ride Checklist:

Ensure your Firefly is in proper working order each time you ride. Contact Customer Support if any part is faulty.

⚠️ WARNING: Improperly functioning Firefly can cause loss of control and falls. Do not ride with damaged parts.

Safety Precautions

Be aware of local laws governing riding on public roads.

Hover-1 is not liable for tickets or violations for not following laws.

Your Firefly is not equipped with reflectors. Riding in low visibility is not recommended.

⚠️ WARNING: In low visibility (fog, dusk, night), you may be difficult to see, leading to collisions. Keep headlight on and wear bright, reflective clothing.

Think about safety to prevent accidents.

Safety Checklist

⚠️ WARNING: Adult supervision required. Never use in roadways, near motor vehicles, inclines, steps, or water. Always wear shoes. Never allow more than one rider.

Riding Your Firefly

FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY PRECAUTIONS CAN LEAD TO DAMAGE, VOID WARRANTY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND DEATH.

Familiarize yourself with operating procedures before use.

Operating Your Device:

Ensure Firefly is fully charged. Stand behind device, place one foot on mat, keep weight on that foot. Shift weight to the first foot, then step on with the second foot quickly and evenly.

? NOTES: Stay relaxed, step on confidently. Imagine climbing stairs. Look up. Vibration/spinning on one mat is normal.

Find your center of gravity. Correct weight distribution allows stable standing.

It takes 3-5 minutes to get comfortable standing and maintaining balance. A spotter can help.

The Firefly is intuitive; focus on your desired direction to move, accelerate, decelerate, or stop. Your center of gravity dictates movement.

To turn, focus on the direction and stay relaxed.

⚠️ WARNING: Do not turn sharply or at high speeds. Do not turn or ride quickly on slopes.

As you gain comfort, maneuvering becomes easier. At higher speeds, shift weight to overcome centrifugal force.

Bend knees on bumps/uneven surfaces, then dismount and carry to a safe surface.

Diagrams show: Move Backward, Stop, Move Forward.

Dismounting

Dismounting incorrectly can cause falls. From a stopped position, lift one leg, step back onto the ground, then step off completely.

⚠️ WARNING: Lift leg completely off the foot mat to clear the device when stepping back. Failure to do so may cause the Firefly to tailspin.

Weight and Speed Limitations:

Operating Range

The Firefly can travel up to 6 miles on a full charge in ideal conditions. Factors affecting range include:

⚠️ WARNING: Overweight exertion may increase injury or product damage risk.

? NOTES: At max speed, Firefly beeps and tilts rider back.

Balance & Calibration

If your Firefly is unbalanced, vibrating, or not turning properly, follow these calibration steps:

  1. Place Firefly on a flat, horizontal surface. Foot mats should be even. Ensure charger is unplugged and board is off.
  2. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 15 seconds. The scooter will turn on, lighting the battery indicator.
  3. Turn the board off, then turn it back on. Press the power button twice. Calibration is complete.

Safety Alerts

If a system error or illegal operation occurs, the device will prompt the user. The Running Indicator Light will turn RED, and a beep sound will alert you to cease operation.

These alerts should not be ignored. Take appropriate action to correct issues.

Common occurrences for Safety Alerts:

⚠️ WARNING: When Firefly turns off during a Safety Alert, all systems halt. Do not continue riding. Turn Firefly off and back on to unlock from Safety Lock.

Charging Your Firefly

Charging the Device:

Battery Care / Maintenance:

Battery Specifications: Type: Rechargeable Lithium-ion, Charge Time: Up to 5 hours, Voltage: 25.2 V, Initial Capacity: 4.0AH.

Battery Maintenance:

Do not continue charging if battery does not recharge within specified time; this can cause overheating, rupture, or ignition.

Recycle or dispose of batteries properly. Lithium-ion batteries are hazardous.

⚠️ WARNING: Failure to follow safety precautions can lead to serious injury and/or death.

⚠️ WARNING: SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IF EXPOSED TO ANY SUBSTANCE EMITTED FROM THE BATTERY.
