1 Introduction
This remote control is designed to operate Cable boxes and TVs.
2 Replacing Batteries
Before you program or operate the remote control, you must install two new AAA alkaline batteries.
- Remove the battery compartment cover from the back of your remote control.
- Check battery polarity carefully, and install the batteries as shown in the illustration below. [Illustration description: The back of the remote shows a battery compartment. An illustration indicates two AAA alkaline batteries should be inserted with the positive (+) end towards the spring and the negative (-) end towards the other end of the compartment.]
- Replace the battery compartment cover.
3 Button Functions
Description of remote control buttons:
- [INFO]: Displays information about the program currently playing or highlighted in the program guide.
- [HOME]: Accesses the home menu or main screen.
- [POWER]: Designed to send Power On/Off commands for up to two components with one button press.
- [OK/SEL]: Selects highlighted screen options.
- [PAGE +/-]: Accesses pages above or below the information currently displayed.
- [VOL +/-]: Raises or lowers the sound level.
- [MUTE]: Silences the audio. Press to activate. Press this key again to restore sound to the previous level.
- [CH +/-]: Selects the next higher or lower channel.
- [LAST CH]: Accesses the previously tuned channel.
- [GUIDE]: Displays the program guide listings.
- [EXIT]: Exit from current screen.
- [ON DEMAND]: Provides direct access to On Demand channel.
- [NUMBER PAD]: Enter numbers to tune to channels. Also make numeric entries on on-screen menus. You can also use the [CH +/-] and the guide as alternate ways to tune to channels.
- [LIGHT]: Press to backlight all keypad buttons. Press again to turn off (or simply wait 10 seconds for automatic shut-off).
- [TRANSPORT CONTROLS]: Buttons like REW (Fast Rewind), PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, JUMP, FF (Fast Forward) select items to control the playback of what is being viewed.
- [#]: Changes the HD screen viewing aspect ratio through the Cable STB.
4 Programming the Remote Control
A. Quick Set-Up Method
Refer to the Section B Quick Set-up table of codes.
- Turn on the component you want to program. To program your TV, turn on the TV.
- Press and hold the [HOME] key for 5 seconds until the POWER LED blinks once and stays on. Continue to hold the [HOME] key and press the number key assigned to your brand in the Quick Set-up Code Table. Release both [HOME] key and the number key to save the code. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm that the code is stored.
- Point the remote control at the component.
- Press the power button. If it turns off, it is programmed for your component. If it does not turn off, use the Pre-Programmed 3-Digit code Method or Scanning Method.
B. Quick Set-up Code Tables
This section provides a quick reference for common brands and their corresponding setup codes. The table below lists some popular TV manufacturers and their initial setup codes:

C. Manual Programming
The remote control can be programmed by entering a three-digit code number that corresponds to particular brands and models of equipment. The three-digit code numbers are listed in the code tables sections of this instruction manual.
- Turn on the equipment that you want the remote control to operate (e.g., TV).
- Press the [HOME] button and the [OK/SEL] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The POWER LED will turn on, indicating it is ready to be programmed. The LED will remain on for 30 seconds. The next step must be entered while the LED is on.
- Point the remote control toward the equipment and enter the three-digit code number assigned to your brand from the code tables. If there are multiple three-digit numbers listed for your brand, try one code number at a time until your equipment turns off.
- Note: You can verify that you have selected the correct code by pressing the [POWER] button. The equipment should turn back on. Then try all functions (e.g., volume, mute) to ensure the correct code. If any functions do not operate correctly, repeat from Step 3 using the next code number for the brand.
- Store the three-digit code by pressing the [HOME] button once again. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm that the code has been stored.
D. Auto Search Method
If none of the three-digit code numbers assigned to your brand work, or your brand is not listed, use the Auto Search Method.
- Turn on the equipment you want to operate.
- Press the [HOME] button and the [OK/SEL] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The POWER LED will turn on and remain lit for 30 seconds.
- Press the [CH] or [CH] button one at a time or hold it down. The remote will emit a series of Power ON/OFF code signals. Release the [CH] or [CH] button as soon as the equipment turns off.
- Note: Verify the code by pressing [POWER]. The equipment should turn back on. Test other functions (volume, mute, etc.). If functions don't work, repeat Step 3 to continue the search.
- Press the [HOME] button to store the code. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm.
E. The Learning Method
- Press the [POWER] button to be programmed and the [#] button simultaneously for 3 seconds until the LED light turns on.
- Point the remote at the other remote, head-to-head, 1 or 2 inches apart.
- Press the button on the remote that you want to teach a command to (e.g., press [MUTE] to learn a command for the [MUTE] button).
- Press and hold the button on the other remote that corresponds to the command you want to teach until the LED light blinks twice.
- Note: The LED will blink 5 times if there was an error. Repeat Steps 3 and 4. Continue learning other buttons by repeating Steps 3 and 4.
- Once all desired commands are taught, save them by pressing the [POWER] and [#] buttons simultaneously until the LED blinks 3 times. Test all buttons.
F. Erasing a Single Learned Command
- Press the [POWER] and [#] buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the LED light turns on.
- Press and hold the button you want to erase for 3 seconds. The LED will blink twice to confirm erasure.
- To exit, press and hold both the [POWER] and [#] buttons simultaneously until the LED blinks 3 times.
G. Erasing All Learned Commands from One Device
- Press the [POWER] and [#] buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the LED light turns on.
- Press and hold both the [POWER] button you want to erase and the [PAUSE] button for 5 seconds. The LED will blink twice to confirm erasure.
- To exit, press and hold both the [POWER] and [#] buttons simultaneously.
H. Programming Volume Control
By default, the [VOL +/-] and [MUTE] keys operate through your TV. To control these functions on a different device, follow these steps:
- Press the [OK/SEL] button and [POWER] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The POWER LED will turn on for 30 seconds.
- Press the [VOL+] button. The POWER LED will blink.
- Press the [HOME] or [POWER] button corresponding to the device you want the volume and mute buttons to control. The POWER LED will blink twice to confirm programming.
- Note: To control your Cable Box, press [POWER] in Step 3. To control your TV, press [HOME] in Step 3.
5 Memory Lock System
This remote control is designed to retain programmed memory for 10 years, even after batteries are removed.
