Nomenclature Charts

Armstrong Air & AirEase Brands Nomenclature

The nomenclature system for Armstrong Air and AirEase furnaces uses a series of codes to identify key features:

• Brand: A = Armstrong Air, AirEase
• AFUE: 80 = 96% Efficiency
• Config: UH = Upflow/Horizontal, DF = Downflow
• Stages: 1 = 1 Stage, 2 = 2 Stage
• Blower: M = Modulation, V = Variable Speed, D = Direct Drive
• BTUH Input: Represents heating input in thousands (e.g., 110 = 110,000 BTU/h)
• Cabinet Width: A = 14.5", B = 17.5", C = 21.0", D = 24.5"
• CFM: Indicates airflow capacity.
• Option Code: Describes features like heat exchanger material (S = Stainless Steel, A = Aluminized) or cooling tonnage (08 = 2 Ton, 12 = 3 Ton, etc.).
• Major Revision Code: Indicates product revisions.

Ducane & Concord Brands Nomenclature

The nomenclature for Ducane and Concord furnaces follows a similar structure:

• AFUE: 92 = 92%, 95 = 95%
• Gas: G = Gas
• Stages: 1 = Single Stage, 2 = Two Stage
• Config: UH = Upflow/Horizontal, DF = Downflow
• BTUH Input: Represents heating input in thousands.
• Cabinet Width: A = 14.5", B = 17.5", C = 21.0", D = 24.5"
• Blower Drive: P = PSC, V = Variable Speed
• CFM: Indicates airflow capacity.
• Option Code: Describes features like Low NOx (L) or cooling tonnage.
• Revision Code: Indicates product revisions.

Return Air Bases

Use: Return air kits are used with upflow/horizontal furnaces in upflow applications to provide an additional return air opening. They allow for single side entry on 5-ton air systems.

Kit Contains:

• 1 - Return Air Base (includes front plate, back plate, base plate, right hand side rail, left hand side rail, patch plate)
• 12 - Screws

Diagrams:

• Front View: Shows the return air base with optional side return opening. Dimensions and airflow direction are indicated.
• Side View: Illustrates the dimensions for the side return air opening, including minimum and maximum measurements.

Horizontal Hanging Kit

Use: The horizontal bracket kit provides support for units installed in horizontal applications with an evaporator coil.

Kit Contains:

• 6 - Brackets
• 1 - Support Rail
• 12 - Washers 1/4"
• 6 - Hex Nuts 1/4"
• 6 - Bolts 1/4" x 1-1/4"
• 12 - Rubber Washers 1-1/4"
• 6 - Screws #8 x 1/2"

Combustible Floor Bases

Use: When a downflow unit is installed on a combustible floor, a downflow combustible flooring base must be installed between the furnace and the floor.

Kit Contains:

• 1 - Insulated additive base

Installation Steps:

1. Cut correct size floor opening.
2. Set downflow combustible floor base into opening.
3. Set supply air plenum into floor base.
4. Set furnace.

Flush Mount Termination Kit (US Only)

Use: Termination Kit 51W11 is used to isolate intake and exhaust pipes as they exit the wall of the structure. The kit may be used with either 2", 2-1/2" or 3" vent systems.

Kit Contains:

• 1 - Flush mount termination
• 1 - 1-1/2" accelerator
• 1 - Template
• 4 - Screws #10 x 2-1/2"
• 4 - Anchors

Concentric Termination Kits (US Only)

Use: Concentric termination kit isolates intake and exhaust pipes as they exit the structure.

Kit Contains:

• 1 - Rain cap
• 1 - Intake SDR-26 pipe
• 1 - Exhaust SDR-26 pipe
• 1 - Concentric fitting

• Side Wall Termination: Shows securing strap, intake air, exhaust, and outside wall, with dimensional guidelines for snow accumulation and grade.
• Rooftop Termination: Depicts rooftop termination with flashing, clamp, sheet metal strap, intake air, and exhaust air, including dimensional guidelines.

External Filter Rack Kits

Use: Installing 1" cleanable or disposable filters externally on the side.

Kit Contains (for 1 pack kit):

• 1 - Filter assembly frame
• 1 - Air filter
• 4 - Sheet metal screws

Gas Conversion Kit (Natural to LP Gas Conversion Kit)

Use: For field conversion from natural gas to LP gas.

For 96% Modulating and 80% 2 Stage Variable Speed

Kit Contains:

• 1 - Gas valve
• Required Main burner orifices
• 1 - Gas converter sticker
• 1 - Nameplate conversion sticker

For 90% and 80% Single Stage

Kit Contains:

• Required Main burner orifices
• 1 - Gas converter sticker
• 1 - Nameplate conversion sticker
• 1 - LP Spring

Use: Common service components packaged conveniently for servicing contractors.
