Important Safety Instructions

This section lists precautions that must be taken to use the product safely and prevent damage to property or injury to operators or others. Please read the following before using the printer.

Notes on Installing

Caution: Do not install or store the printer in an unstable location or a location subject to vibrations from other equipment, as it could fall or tip over, causing injury. Avoid locations with oily smoke, dust, humidity, or where it could easily get wet, as this could cause electric shock or fire. Do not tilt the product more than 10 degrees forward, back, left, or right while moving it. As the product is heavy, it requires four people for unpacking or carrying. Clear the installation area of all packaging materials to prevent slips or trips. Use correct posture when lifting and lift at the indicated locations to avoid injury. When placing the printer on a stand with casters, secure the casters to prevent movement. Do not move the product with casters secured, and avoid uneven flooring or steps when moving the printer on its stand.

Warning: Do not obstruct the product's vents, as this can cause overheating and fire. Ensure sufficient space for ventilation. Do not use the printer in locations with volatile substances like alcohol or thinner, or near naked flames, as this could cause electric shock or fire.

Notes on Handling

Warning: Do not use the printer if it is giving off smoke or unusual odors/noises. Turn off and unplug immediately if abnormalities occur, and contact Epson Support. Never attempt to repair the printer yourself. Do not use in environments with flammable or explosive gases or aerosols. Route cables as indicated in the manual to prevent fire or damage. Do not insert metallic or flammable objects into openings. Do not touch internal areas unless indicated. Be careful of leaking liquid crystal if the LCD is damaged. Follow first aid procedures for skin contact, eye contact, or ingestion of liquid. If foreign objects or liquid enter the printer, stop use immediately, turn off, unplug, and contact Epson Support.

Caution: Do not sit on the product or place heavy objects on it. When transporting or storing, ensure the product is level. Store the cutter out of reach of children. Connect cables and accessories correctly according to the manual.

Notes on the Power Supply: Connect the printer to a grounded outlet to prevent electric shock or fire. Use only the power source type indicated on the printer's label. Do not use a plug with foreign objects. Use only the supplied power cable and do not use it for other devices. Do not use a damaged power cable. Do not modify, place heavy objects on, bend, twist, or pull the power cable forcefully, or route it near heaters. Do not connect to a power strip or multi-plug; connect directly to a grounded outlet. Do not plug or unplug with wet hands. Ensure the plug blades are fully inserted. Regularly clean the plug and surrounding area. When unplugging, grip the plug itself, not the cable.

Notes on Consumables

Caution: Do not shake ink cartridges too hard, as ink may leak. Do not disassemble ink cartridges or the maintenance box. If ink contacts skin or eyes, wash immediately with soap and water or flush eyes with clean water. If ingested, consult a physician immediately. Store cartridges and maintenance boxes out of reach of children. Do not drink the ink.

Notes on Paper

Caution: Do not rub the edges of the printing paper with your hand, as they are thin and sharp.

Other Notes

Do not put your hand inside the product or touch the print head or white flat cable during printing.

Caution: If you will not be using the printer for an extended period, unplug it for safety.

Assembly

Stand Assembly

Choose a flat, level location with adequate space for operation and maintenance. Select a flat and stable location that can support the printer's weight (SureColor P9370: approx. 333 lb/151 kg; SureColor P7370: approx. 262 lb/119 kg). Always use the printer on its stand. Use only an outlet that meets the printer's power requirements. Install the printer in a location with temperatures between 50-95°F (10-35°C) and humidity between 20-80%. Ensure the location also meets the environmental conditions for the paper being used. Avoid direct sunlight, direct air conditioning, or heat sources.

Step 1: Assemble the stand using the provided parts and hardware (3 x 6 screws). Two people are recommended for assembly.

Step 2: Secure the casters of the stand, except when moving the printer.

Printer Installation

Step [1]: When carrying the printer, use at least four people. Place hands at indicated locations. Do not hold by the parts shown in the diagrams. Ensure the Auto Take-up Reel Unit is installed correctly if applicable.

Step [2]: Follow the on-screen instructions for printer installation.

Step [3] through [19]: Detailed steps for assembling and installing the printer components, including paper baskets and protective material removal.

Step [20] through [23]: Final steps for setting up the printer, including paper loading and component attachment.

Initial Settings

Connecting the Power Cable

Warning: Use only the type of power source indicated on the printer's label. Connect to a grounded (earthed) outlet to prevent ground leak accidents. The plug shape may vary by region; use the supplied power cable only.

Ink Charging

Turn on the printer and select initial settings like language and date. Follow the on-screen instructions for initial ink charging. Observe precautions during ink charging: do not disconnect the power cable, do not perform unspecified operations, and do not open covers other than the roll paper cover, as this can interrupt charging and consume more ink. The included ink cartridges and maintenance boxes are for initial charging only; replacement may be needed soon.

The operation is complete when the "Load paper." message appears.

Installing the Software

Ensure your computer is connected to the Internet for software download. Prepare the printer and computer for connection but do not connect cables until prompted. Download and run the product's software package from the Epson website (e.g., epson.com/support). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

When prompted for the administrator password during software installation, enter the default password found on the label attached to the printer. If there's one label, use the serial number; if there are two, use the "PASSWORD" label.

For network connections, it is recommended to change the initial administrator password. For information on changing or recovering the password, refer to the "Administrator's Guide" (online manual).
