Hardware Installation
Important Precautions:
- Ensure all connected devices are powered off before installation.
- Unplug power cords for computers that have the Keyboard Power On function.
- Ensure all devices are properly grounded to prevent damage from power surges or static electricity.
Installation Steps:
- Connect your keyboard and mouse to the USB ports on the front of the CS692. The mouse port is a USB 2.0 port and can accept any USB compatible peripheral. A USB hub can be connected to install multiple USB devices, which may require an external power adapter.
- Connect your monitor to the HD port on the front of the CS692 and power on the monitor.
- Connect speakers and microphone to the console audio ports on the front of the CS692 (optional). If your monitor has built-in speakers and supports audio through its HD interface, separate speakers are not needed.
- Plug the USB, HD, and audio connectors of the KVM cables into their respective ports on the computers being installed.
- Power on the computers. By default, the switch connects to the first computer that is powered on.
Operation
The CS692 offers three convenient methods for selecting computers:
Manual Port Selection:
Press the push button on the Remote Port Selector to toggle KVM and Audio focus between the two computers. The Port LED lights up to indicate which computer has the focus.
Note: Do not switch ports while a USB device is in operation. For independent USB switching, please refer to ATEN's USB KVMP switches on their website.
Mouse Port Selection:
Double-click the scroll wheel on your USB mouse to switch between ports. This function allows toggling back and forth between ports. Note: This feature is supported by 3-key scroll wheel mice only. The default setting is OFF. This feature is only supported when mouse emulation is enabled.
Hotkey Port Selection:
All hotkey operations begin by tapping the Scroll Lock key twice. If the Scroll Lock key conflicts with other programs, the Ctrl key can be used instead.
