IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING

To reduce the risk of explosion, fire, death, electric shock, scalding or injury to persons when using this product, follow basic precautions, including the following:

  • Installation: Before use, the appliance must be properly installed as described in this manual. Contact the authorized service technician for repair or maintenance. Contact the installer for installation. Young children should be supervised. Power cord replacement must be done by authorized personnel using genuine parts. Installation work must comply with the National Electric Code by qualified personnel. Connect to a properly rated, protected, and sized power circuit. Always plug into a grounded outlet. Do not cut or remove the third (ground) prong. Be careful not to pinch, crush, or damage the power cord when installing or moving. Plug in properly. Do not modify or extend the power cord. Do not start/stop operation by plugging/unplugging the power cord. If the cord/plug is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service person. Use a dedicated circuit. Do not disassemble or modify the product. Adhere to safety procedures including gloves and safety glasses. Disconnect power before installing or servicing. Keep packaging materials away from children. Store and install away from freezing temperatures or outdoor weather. Do not store or use gasoline or flammable vapors nearby. Do not install in potentially explosive atmospheres.
  • Operation: Use only for intended purpose. Never operate if damaged, malfunctioning, or missing parts. Repair or replace frayed power cords. Do not run cord under carpets. Keep cord from under heavy objects. Do not place cord near heat sources. Do not use an adapter or plug into a shared outlet. Do not tamper with controls. If strange sounds, chemical/burning smells, or smoke occur, unplug immediately and contact LG Customer Information Center. Never unplug by pulling the cord; grip the plug firmly. Do not touch controls with wet hands. If water enters the product, turn off power at main circuit, unplug, and call for service. If submerged, contact LG Customer Information Center. Unplug when unused for long periods. Unplug before cleaning. In case of gas leak, open window/door to ventilate. Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised. Interior must be cleaned by authorized service center or dealer. Do not use solvent-based detergent.
  • Grounding Instructions: The power cord has a three-prong plug. Use with a standard three-slot (grounding) wall outlet. Have the wall receptacle and circuit checked by a qualified electrician for proper grounding. DO NOT CUT OR REMOVE THE THIRD (GROUND) PRONG. Discourage adapter plug use due to safety hazards. If an adapter is used, ensure it is UL-listed and the large slot aligns with the large slot in the receptacle for proper polarity. Attaching the adapter ground terminal to the wall receptacle cover screw does not ground the appliance unless the cover screw is metal and the receptacle is grounded. Have the circuit checked by a qualified electrician. Disconnect power cord from adapter with one hand on each. Do not use with a broken adapter plug. Do not use adapter plugs if disconnecting often; replace outlet with a three-slot (grounding) outlet.

To reduce the risk of minor or moderate injury to persons, malfunction, or damage to the product or property when using this product, follow basic precautions, including the following:

  • Installation: Take care that exhaust or condensation does not damage nearby property. Follow installation instructions exactly to avoid vibration or water leakage. Wear gloves and use caution when unpacking; sharp edges can cause injuries.
  • Operation: Not intended for precision refrigeration (e.g., maintaining pets, food, machinery). Be careful not to pinch, crush, or damage the power cord. Ensure air inlet/outlet are free from obstructions. Use a soft cloth for cleaning; avoid waxes, thinners, or harsh detergents. Do not step on or place heavy objects on top. Do not operate without the filter installed. Do not drink drained water. Ensure sufficient ventilation when using with a heating appliance. Do not expose people, animals, or plants to cold/hot wind for extended periods. Remove batteries from remote if not used for extended periods. Never mix battery types or old/new batteries. Stop using remote if battery leaks fluid; wash exposed skin with water. If leaking battery fluid is swallowed, rinse mouth and consult a doctor. Do not recharge or disassemble batteries.
  • Maintenance: Clean the filter every two weeks. Never touch metal parts when removing the filter. Never use strong cleaning agents or solvents; use a smooth cloth.

Refrigerant (For R32 Only)

WARNING

  • Do not use means to accelerate defrosting or cleaning other than manufacturer recommendations.
  • Store in a room without open flames or ignition sources.
  • Do not pierce or burn. Be aware flammable refrigerants may not have an odor.
  • Minimize pipe-work installation.
  • Observe national gas regulations.
  • Mechanical connections must be accessible for maintenance.
  • Store in a well-ventilated area corresponding to room size for operation.

CAUTION

  • This unit contains flammable refrigerant and has special safety precautions. Follow all precautions.
  • Handle with caution, prevent damage. Do not put holes into the product.
  • Maintenance and cleaning should be performed by trained personnel.
  • Ensure all air circulation/ventilation openings are free from obstruction.
  • Service only by technicians trained and certified in handling flammable refrigerants. Unauthorized service voids warranties.
  • When storing, do not place in rooms with open flames (gas water heaters, furnaces) or electric heaters. Repair damaged units before storage.
  • Personnel working on refrigerant circuits must hold a valid certificate of competence.
  • Servicing shall only be performed as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Maintenance/repair requiring other skilled personnel must be under supervision of a competent person.
  • Store appliance to prevent mechanical damage.
  • Refrigerant and blowing gas require special disposal procedures. Consult a service agent or qualified person before disposing.

Installation

Electrical Data

The power cord may include a current interrupter device with TEST and RESET buttons. Test periodically by pressing TEST then RESET. If TEST does not trip or RESET will not stay engaged, discontinue use and contact a qualified service technician.

WARNING

  • This appliance should be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Use of extension cords could cause serious injury or death. Do not use an extension cord with this air conditioner. Do not use surge protectors or multi-outlet adapters.
  • Never push the TEST button during operation, as it can damage the plug.
  • Do not remove, modify, or immerse the plug. If this device trips, the cause should be corrected before further use.

CAUTION

The conductors inside the cord are surrounded by shields monitoring leakage current; these shields are not grounded. Periodically examine the cord for damage. Do not use if shields become exposed. Avoid shock hazard. This unit cannot be user-serviced. Do not open the tamper-resistant sealed portion. All warranties and performance will be voided. This unit is not intended to be used as an ON/OFF switch.

Installation Requirements

  • Remove packing materials and tape from the wall sleeve and air conditioner.
  • If using an existing wall sleeve, measure its dimensions.
  • Install according to instructions for best performance. Wall sleeves must be in good structural condition with a rear grille or flange for secure attachment.
  • Using the LGE sleeve (optional) helps maintain best performance.

Diagrams show the Air Conditioner unit and the LGE Wall Sleeve with approximate dimensions.

Electrical Service

  • Check available electrical service matches the unit's nameplate.
  • All models have a 3-prong service plug for proper grounding. Do not change the plug. Do not use an adapter plug. If your wall outlet does not match, call a qualified electrician.
  • Save the carton for storage and the manual for reference. The carton is best for storing the unit during winter or when not in use.

CAUTION

To avoid risk of personal injury, property damage, or product damage due to the weight of this device and sharp edges that may be exposed:

  • Air Conditioners pose an excessive weight hazard. Two or more people are needed to move and install the unit. Use proper lifting and carrying techniques.
  • Carefully inspect the installation location to ensure it supports the unit's weight.
  • Handle the Air Conditioner with care, wear protective gloves, and avoid sharp metal fins.
  • Ensure the air conditioner does not fall during installation.

REQUIRED TOOLS:

  • Tight Fitting gloves

  • 3/8-inch open end wrench or adjustable wrench
  • 1/4-inch hex socket and ratchet
  • Tape measure
  • Electric drill
  • 1/4-inch drill bit

CAUTION

  • It is strongly recommended to remove the old wall sleeve and install a new LGE Wall Sleeve. If keeping the existing sleeve, redirect the louvers at the back using pliers. Failure to do so may result in poor performance or product failure, which is not covered by warranty.
  • Pick a location that allows conditioned air to blow into the desired area. Proper installation position reduces service needs.

How to Install

  1. Identify the existing wall sleeve from the provided list of brands and their wall sleeve dimensions (Width, Height, Depth).
  2. Remove the old Air Conditioner from the existing wall sleeve.
  3. Clean the interior of the existing sleeve, being careful not to disturb seals.
  4. Ensure the wall sleeve is securely fastened in the wall. Use nails or screws if needed. Repaint sleeve if necessary.
  5. Prepare the wall sleeve for installation. If using an existing sleeve that is not LGE, follow Procedure B or C.
  6. Install the new unit into the wall sleeve.
  7. Ensure the replacement unit has a rearward slope for draining. To achieve a 1/4" slope, attach shim strips as shown in Figure 3, placing the higher portion of the shim to the front of the rib on the base of the wall sleeve.

Procedure A

  1. If using a new LGE sleeve, skip to step 3. Otherwise, install the plastic grille from the kit. Cut the plastic grille to 25-1/2" wide and 15-1/4" high. Place it inside the wall sleeve at the rear flange. (See Figure 4)
  2. Fasten the 4 washer screws to secure the grille to the wall sleeve. Use plastic nuts if provided for mounting. The nuts are installed from inside the sleeve and pressed into the square holes of the rear flanges. (See Figure 5)
  3. Remove backing from the vertical insulation strip (15-9/16" x 1-3/8" x 1-3/8") and attach to the inside right of the sleeve. Remove backing from the around insulation strip (67-1/8" x 1-3/8" x 25/32") and attach to the inside front of the sleeve. (See Figure 6)
  4. Install the new unit into the wall sleeve.
  5. Assemble trim by snapping tabs into slots. Slide trim over the front of the Air Conditioner until flush with the sleeve. (See Figure 7)

Procedure B

  1. Redirect the louvers at the back of the wall sleeve to a 60° angle using pliers. (See Figure 8)
  2. If the wall sleeve has a rear grille, skip to step 4. If not, install the plastic grille from the kit. Cut to 25-1/2" wide and 15-1/4" high. Place inside the wall sleeve at the rear flange. (See Figure 9)
  3. Fasten the 4 washer screws to secure the grille. Use plastic nuts if needed. (See Figure 10)
  4. Remove backing from the vertical insulation strip (15-9/16" x 1-3/8" x 1-3/8") and attach to the inside right of the sleeve. Remove backing from the around insulation strip (67-1/8" x 1-3/8" x 25/32") and attach to the inside front of the sleeve. (See Figure 11)
  5. If the existing wall sleeve depth (D) is 18" or less, skip to step 6. Otherwise, cut baffles and support blocks according to Length A in the table.
  6. Remove backing from support blocks and attach them inside the wall sleeve. Slide the baffle into the slots of the support blocks. (See Figure 13)
  7. Install the new unit into the wall sleeve.
  8. Assemble trim as described in Step 5, Procedure A.

Procedure C

  1. Redirect the louvers at the back of the wall sleeve to a 60° angle using pliers. (See Figure 14)
  2. If the wall sleeve has a rear grille, skip to step 4. If not, install the plastic grille from the kit. Cut to 26-1/2" wide and 15-1/2" high. Place inside the wall sleeve at the rear flange. (See Figure 15)
  3. Fasten the 4 washer screws to secure the grille. Use plastic nuts if needed. (See Figure 16)
  4. Remove backing from the horizontal insulation strip (26-3/4" x 1-3/8" x 1-3/16") and attach to the inside right of the sleeve. Remove backing from the around insulation strip (59-27/32" x 1-3/8" x 1-3/8") and attach to the inside front of the sleeve. (See Figure 17)
  5. If the existing wall sleeve depth (D) is 18" or less, skip to step 7. Otherwise, cut baffles and support blocks according to Length A in the table.
  6. Remove backing from support blocks and attach them inside the wall sleeve. Slide the baffle into the slots of the support blocks. (See Figure 19)
  7. To achieve rearward slope for unit draining, remove backing from shim strips (11-13/16") and attach as shown in Figure 21, placing the higher portion of the shim to the front of the rib on the base of the wall sleeve.
  8. Install the new unit into the wall sleeve.
  9. Assemble trim as described in Step 5, Procedure A.

How to attach Front Grille to Cabinet

The front grille can be removed for cleaning or to check model/serial numbers. For safety, attach the front grille as follows:

  1. Pull down front grille from the cabinet top.
  2. Push front grille's tips toward the cabinet to insert tabs into the cabinet.
  3. Open the inlet grille. Tighten the screw through the front grille into the plate of the control box.
  4. Close inlet grille.

CAUTION regarding weight hazard and handling sharp fins is repeated here.

Operation

Control Panel and Remote Control

The control panel and remote control have buttons for operation. The remote control may vary by model.

Control Panel Features:

  • POWER: Turns the air conditioner ON or OFF.
  • FAN SPEED: Sets fan speed to Low (F1), Medium (F2), or High (F3).
  • DELAY ON/OFF TIMER: Sets the unit to turn ON (when off) or OFF (when on) automatically from 1 to 24 hours later. Each press advances the timer by 1 hour.
  • MODE: Cycles through Energy Saver, Cool, Fan, and Dry modes.
  • TEMP: Adjusts the desired room temperature (60°F–86°F / 16°C-30°C).
  • Remote Control Sensor: Receives signals from the remote control.
  • Clean Filter LED: Illuminates when the filter needs cleaning (after approx. 250 hours of operation). Press Temp UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously on the control panel to reset the light after cleaning. Filter reset must be done via the control panel, not the remote.

Operation Modes Explained:

  • Energy Saver: Compressor and fan turn off when temperature is met. Fan runs periodically to check temperature.
  • Cool: Ideal for hot days to cool and dehumidify. Use Temp buttons for temperature and Fan Speed for circulation.
  • Fan: Circulates air; compressor does not run. Fan speed adjustable. Temperature cannot be adjusted.
  • Dry: Ideal for rainy/damp days to dehumidify without significant cooling. Humidity is removed by compressor operation and fixed Low fan speed. Compressor and fan turn off once set temperature is reached. Fan speed is not adjustable in Dry mode.

NOTE on Operation:

  • Auto Restart: If power is lost, the unit restarts with previous settings when power is restored.
  • Energy Saver: Unit defaults to Energy Saver mode upon startup, except in Fan mode or after power outage.
  • Remote control may not function properly if the AC infrared sensor is exposed to direct light or if there are obstacles.

Wireless Remote Control

Inserting Batteries:

  1. Push out the back cover with your thumb.
  2. Insert two new AAA 1.5V batteries, observing pole markings.
  3. Reattach the cover.

NOTE on Remote Control:

  • Two new batteries are supplied.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  • Remove battery if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
  • Keep remote away from extreme heat or humidity.
  • Do not expose the remote sensor to direct sunlight for optimal operation.

Air Direction

Airflow can be adjusted by changing the direction of the air conditioner's louvers.

Adjusting Horizontal Airflow Direction:

Move the levers of the vertical louvers left or right.

Adjusting Vertical Airflow Direction:

Touch the horizontal louvers to adjust airflow up or down.

NOTE: In extremely hot weather, the unit may turn off automatically to protect the compressor.

Additional Features

Slinger Fan:

This air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan. The fan's outer ring picks up condensed water from the base pan when the water level gets high. The water is then picked up by the fan and expelled through the condenser, making the air conditioner more efficient.

Maintenance

WARNING

Before cleaning or performing maintenance, disconnect the power supply and wait until the fan stops.

Air Filter

Check the air filter at least twice a month. Trapped particles can block airflow, reduce cooling capacity, and cause frost accumulation on the evaporator.

Cleaning the Air Filter:

  1. Remove the air filter from the front grille by pulling it forward and then up slightly.
  2. Wash the filter using lukewarm water below 40°C (104°F).
  3. Gently shake excess water from the filter and replace it.

Cleaning the Air Conditioner:

  • Wipe the front grille and inlet grille with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent solution.
  • Wash the cabinet with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water, then polish using liquid appliance wax.

NOTE on Maintenance:

  • To ensure peak efficiency, check condenser coils periodically and clean if clogged with soot or dirt.
  • For repair and maintenance, contact an Authorized Service Center. Call 1-800-243-0000. Have your model and serial number available (found on the side of the cabinet).

Troubleshooting

Before Calling for Service

The appliance has an automatic error-monitoring system. If the appliance does not function properly, check the following before calling for service.

Normal Sounds You May Hear:

  • 1. High Pitched Chatter: Today's high efficiency compressors may make a high pitched chatter during the cooling cycle.
  • 2. Sound of Rushing Air: You may hear rushing air moved by the fan at the front of the unit.
  • 3. Gurgle/Hiss: Gurgling or hissing noise may be heard due to refrigerant passing through the evaporator during normal operation.
  • 4. Vibration: The unit may vibrate and make noise due to poor wall or window construction or incorrect installation.
  • 5. Pinging or Swishing: Droplets of water hitting the condenser during normal operation may cause pinging or swishing sounds.

A diagram shows the unit with numbered points corresponding to these sounds.

Possible Causes & Corrective Action

Air conditioner does not start. The air conditioner is unplugged. Make sure the plug is pushed completely into the outlet.
The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped. Check the fuse/circuit breaker box and replace fuse or reset breaker.
Power failure. If power failure occurs, turn mode control to off. When power is restored, wait 3 minutes to restart to prevent compressor overload.
The current interrupter device is tripped. Press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use and contact a qualified service technician.
Air conditioner does not cool as it should. Airflow is restricted. Ensure no curtains, blinds, or furniture block the front.
The temp control may not be set correctly. Set desired temperature lower than current.
The air filter is dirty. Clean filter every 2 weeks (see MAINTENANCE section).
The room may have been hot. Allow time for the room to cool down when first turned on.
Cold air is escaping. Check for open furnace floor registers and cold air returns.
Air conditioner freezing up. Cooling coils have iced up. Ice may block airflow. Set mode control to High Fan or High Cool.
Water drips outside. Hot, humid weather. This is normal.
Water drips Indoors. The air conditioner is not tilted to the outside. Ensure it slants slightly from front to rear for proper water disposal.
Water collects in base pan. Moisture removed from air and drains into base pan. This is normal for short periods in low humidity areas, or longer periods in very humid areas.
Air conditioner turns on and off rapidly. Dirty air filter - air restricted. Clean air filter.
Outside temperature extremely hot. Refer to installation instructions or check with installer.
Noise when unit is cooling. Air movement sound. This is normal. If too loud, set to lower FAN Setting.
Window vibration - poor installation. Refer to installation instructions or check with installer.
Room too cold. Set temperature too low. Increase set temperature.
Remote sensing deactivating prematurely. Remote control not located within range. Place remote control within 20 feet & 120° radius of the front of the unit.
Remote control signal obstructed. Remove obstruction.

Warranty

ARBITRATION NOTICE

This Limited Warranty contains an arbitration provision requiring resolution of disputes by binding arbitration instead of court, unless you opt out. Class actions and jury trials are not permitted.

WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS:

LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. ("LG") warrants your LG Through the Wall Air Conditioner against defects in materials or workmanship under normal household use for the warranty period. LG will, at its option, repair or replace the product. This warranty is valid only to the original retail purchaser, is not assignable or transferable, and applies only when purchased through an LG authorized dealer/distributor and used within the U.S. and U.S. Territories.

NOTE on Warranty:

  • Replacement products and parts may be new or factory-remanufactured and are warranted for the remaining portion of the original unit's warranty period or 90 days, whichever is longer.
  • Retain dated receipt or delivery ticket as proof of purchase for warranty claims.

WARRANTY PERIOD:

1 year from the Date of Purchase: Any internal/functional Parts and Labor.

HOW SERVICE IS HANDLED: In-Home Service

In-home service is provided during the warranty period, subject to availability within the United States. In-home service may not be available in all areas. The product must be unobstructed and accessible. If repair cannot be completed during in-home service, the product may need to be removed for repair. If in-home service is unavailable, LG may elect to provide transportation to/from an LG authorized service center.

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

  • Service trips for delivery, pickup, installation, or product use instruction.
  • Replacing house fuses, resetting circuit breakers, correcting house wiring/plumbing, or correcting product installation.
  • Damage from leaky/broken/frozen water pipes, restricted drain lines, inadequate water supply.
  • Damage from accidents, pets, vermin, lightning, wind, floods, or acts of God.
  • Damage from misuse, abuse, improper installation, repair, or maintenance (including use of non-approved parts).
  • Damage from unauthorized modification or alteration.
  • Damage from incorrect electrical current, voltage, or plumbing codes.
  • Cosmetic damage (scratches, dents, chips) unless reported within seven (7) calendar days of delivery and resulting from defects in materials or workmanship.
  • Damage or missing items on display, open box, discounted, or refurbished products.
  • Products with removed, defaced, or changed serial numbers.
  • Repairs for use other than normal household use (e.g., rental, commercial, offices, recreational facilities) or contrary to manual instructions.
  • Removal and reinstallation if the product is installed in an inaccessible location.

PROCEDURE FOR RESOLVING DISPUTES:

All disputes must be resolved through binding arbitration, not in a court of general jurisdiction. This means you and LG waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.

  • Definitions: References to "LG" and "dispute"/"claim" are defined.
  • Notice of Dispute: Notify LG in writing at least 30 days before arbitration. Engage in good faith discussions to resolve the claim.
  • Agreement to Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver: If disputes are not resolved within 30 days, claims are resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, unless you opt out. Disputes cannot be combined with claims involving others. Individual actions in small claims court are permitted but not on a class basis.
  • Arbitration Rules and Procedures: Demand arbitration in writing. Administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Send demand to AAA and LG. AAA Rules are available online at www.adr.org/consumer. If conflict between AAA Rules and this section, this section governs. Governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
  • Governing Law: Law of your state of residence governs, unless preempted by federal law.
  • Fees/Costs: LG pays arbitration filing fees unless damages sought exceed $25,000. LG pays AAA filing, administration, and arbitrator fees. If you prevail, LG pays reasonable attorneys' fees and expenses. Arbitrator can award fees if allowed by law. If claim is frivolous or for improper purpose, fees are governed by AAA Rules, and you may reimburse LG.
  • Hearings and Location: For claims $25,000 or less, choose arbitration based on documents, telephonic hearing, or in-person hearing. For claims over $25,000, hearing determined by AAA Rules. In-person hearings held in your federal judicial district unless agreed otherwise.
  • Opt Out: You may opt out of dispute resolution by emailing optout@lge.com or calling 1-800-980-2973 within 30 days of purchase. Provide name, address, purchase date, model name/number, and serial number. Opting out does not affect warranty coverage.
