1. Assembly
Parts to be assembled include: Handlebar, Basket, Front Wheel, Seat Tube, Pedals, Front Mudguard, and Headlight. A demonstration video for handlebar assembly is available.
1.1 Front Wheel
How to assemble:
Basic mechanical principle with the quick release lever: The adjusting nut controls clamping force. Turning clockwise increases clamping; counter-clockwise decreases it. For the CLOSE position, turn the adjusting nut clockwise until the wheel is securely clamped.
How to install:
- Open the quick release lever and insert the front wheel fully into the front fork dropouts.
- Turn the adjusting nut clockwise with your left hand to fasten. With your right hand, close the quick release lever. Continue adjusting the nut until the lever is parallel to the hub and resistance is felt.
- Hold the front fork legs and press the quick release lever with your palm to lock it. The 'CLOSE' mark should face outwards, and the lever should be parallel to the fork legs.
1.2 Handlebar
How to assemble:
- Pull the riser up and align it with the head tube and front fork.
- Press down and insert the handlebar assembly into the head tube. Adjust the angle and fasten the screws.
A demonstration video is available.
1.3 Seat
- Loosen the seat tube clamp.
- Insert the seat tube into the frame, adjusting to the desired height (do not go below the minimum mark). Tighten the nut and close the clamp.
- Check seat stability by pushing it left and right. If rotation occurs, turn the nut clockwise by half a circle, close the clamp, and re-check.
1.4 Pedal
How to assemble:
- Insert the pedal marked 'R' into the threaded hole on the right crank. Turn it clockwise a few rounds by hand.
- Use the provided spanner to tighten the pedal shaft clockwise until fastened.
- Repeat for the 'L' pedal, turning counter-clockwise.
- If resistance is felt, remove the pedal immediately to prevent damage. Ensure the pedal shaft is perpendicular to the crank thread before re-attaching.
1.5 Battery
Remove the battery: Press the buckle under the saddle, lift the saddle, and remove the battery.
Battery Define:
- LOCK: Battery not engaged. Key can be removed. Battery can be removed when unlocked. Power cannot be turned on when charging.
- ON: Battery engaged. Key can be removed. Power cannot be turned off when charging.
- OFF: Battery not engaged. Key can be removed. Battery cannot be removed when locked. Power cannot be turned off when charging.
Charge the battery: The battery can be charged while inside the frame via the charging port or after removal. Connect the charger to the battery and then to the mains. The charging indicator light turns red while charging and green when complete. A full charge takes 5-6 hours. Close the charging port cover after charging.
Attention for charging: Use the original charger. Keep the charging port cover closed when not charging. Do not switch on the battery while charging. Charge the battery fully to preserve life. Unplug the charger when the indicator turns green. Do not disassemble the battery.
1.6 Tires
Inflate the tires: Before each ride, check tire pressure. Unscrew the valve cap, attach the pump, and inflate evenly. Screw the valve cap back on.
2. Functions
Key components include: Light Switch, Horn, Brake Lever, Grip Cover, Shifter, Power Button.
2.1 Kickstand
To use the kickstand: Kick it backward with your foot until it is parallel to the ground. Gently press it down to support the eBike. Ensure the kickstand is swung up before riding.
2.2 Brake
Brake control: The left brake lever controls the rear wheel, and the right brake lever controls the front wheel.
3. Riding
3.1 Riding modes
- Sport: Power is off, no motor output. For pedaling and exercise.
- Pedal Assist: When power is on, shifting gears (1, 2, or 3) engages the motor to assist pedaling for an easier ride.
- Throttle Mode: When power is on, twist the throttle to accelerate without pedaling.
Note: If pedaling speed exceeds the motor's maximum speed, the motor disengages regardless of the riding mode.
3.2 Motorized ride
When power is on, gently twist the throttle on the right-hand side for motor assistance. Twist slowly to avoid abrupt acceleration.
3.3 Derailleur system
The derailleur system (front/rear derailleur, shift levers, cables) ensures smooth gear shifting. Initial adjustment is done at the factory, but inspection and adjustment may be needed. Adjust the high limit screw for vertical alignment of the guide pulley and smallest sprocket. Re-tighten the cable and use the barrel adjuster for fine-tuning cable tension. Clockwise barrel adjuster loosens cable tension (moves chain away from wheel); counter-clockwise tightens it (directs chain to wheel).
3.4 Riding safety
⚠️ Important Safety Note: DYU is not responsible for product damage, personal injury, or property loss due to violation of local laws or manual instructions. Treat the e-bike as a motor vehicle. Understand local traffic laws. Ride at a safe speed, as braking distance increases with speed. Use the bell for pedestrians. Slow down at crosswalks. Ensure borrowers are aware of the manual and laws, and wear protective gear. Before each ride, check for loose parts, abnormal sounds, battery level, tire pressure, and display. Contact customer service for any abnormalities.
Weather and terrain: Braking distance increases in rain or snow; ride slowly. Avoid severe weather. Slow down on downhill or bumpy roads. Speed should not exceed 15 km/h (9.32 mph) on non-motor vehicle lanes, downhill, or paved roads.
Caution: Do not ride indoors. Do not accelerate while walking the eBike. Always keep hands on the handlebar. Avoid swinging. Use appropriate accessories for carrying goods or passengers.
4. Storage and Maintenance
Check before riding:
- Recommended tire pressure: 35-45 PSI.
- Power circuit, lighting circuit, etc., should be normal.
- Front and rear brakes must function correctly. Check if they can control wheels tightly.
- Reflectors should not be damaged or soiled.
- When adjusting handlebar or saddle, do not exceed safety marks.
Speed limit: Varies by region. Check and abide by local laws.
4.1 Storage
4.1.1 Indoor storage:
Keep the eBike unfolded or folded. Do not keep the battery connected to mains during long storage. Charge the battery regularly to maintain its life.
4.2 Maintenance
4.2.1 Cleaning:
Never rinse the eBike. Wipe with a damp cloth. After riding, store in a place without direct sunlight or rain.
4.2.2 Regular Inspection:
When unpacking: Check and tighten all screws. Recommended torque values: handlebar screw 60-80 kgf.cm, steering stem screw 175-200 kgf.cm, saddle screw 175-250 kgf.cm, wheel screw 320-450 kgf.cm.
Regular inspection: Check chain tension (adjust via chain regulator). Frequently check motor and brakes (do not oil brakes). Check tires for wear, scratches, or cracks. Ensure inner tube and valve are perpendicular to the wheel hub.
4.2.3 Replacement of parts:
Tire replacement: Replace punctured, damaged, or worn tires/inner tubes immediately. Contact professional technicians for tire cover repair/replacement; DYU does not provide this service.
Modification is prohibited: Modifying key structural parts (frame, fork, steerer tube) or electrical parts voids the warranty. Owners are responsible for any loss or damage due to modifications.
4.2.4 Battery and charging:
Storage conditions: Keep battery away from acid/alkaline liquid, rain, fire, heat, and high temperatures. Do not short-circuit. Store in a dry (65±20% humidity) and cool (10-35°C / 50-95°F) place. Charge the battery for two hours each month.
Charge the battery: Use the original charger. Do not disassemble the charger. Charging current should not exceed 2A. Match charger to battery type and voltage. Charge in a well-ventilated area away from sun/heat. Connect charger to battery before plugging into mains. Stop charging if indicator is abnormal, smells, or charger overheats. Unplug from mains before disconnecting battery. Stop charging when indicator turns green. Do not leave charger connected to mains when not charging. Avoid foreign matter inside the battery. If carrying the charger, use a toolbox with shock absorption.
Recycle the battery: Waste batteries are hazardous. Contact a professional agency for recycling.
