ProDevice OMS130 Shredder Instruction Manual

Thank you for purchasing the ProDevice OMS130 – the medium office media shredder for physical destruction / disintegration of storage media which may include: solid state drives (SSD), mobile phones and tablets (with the battery packs removed), floppy disks, and more.

This user manual is integral to the shredder. Read and understand the manual before operating the shredder. Keep the manual for future reference. The company DISKUS Polska sp. z o. o., as the manufacturer is not responsible for the partial or total failure to comply with this manual.

Strictly follow the operating guidance specified in the user manual. Any deviation from it is against the intended use of the shredder. The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage caused by non-intended use of the shredder.

Never attempt to modify the shredder. The manufacturer will not be liable for the performance or operating safety if the device is modified.

The manufacturer reserves the right to introduce changes to the design of devices, deemed necessary by the manufacturer to improve them.

2. Packaging Removal

The shredder is delivered to the buyer on a pallet in a box. The weight of the shredder requires a pallet truck or a forklift to remove it from the pallet. Carefully remove all packaging materials and verify that the contents are complete. Having removed the packaging materials, immediately inspect the shredder for any evidence of damage in transport (in the carrier presence). If the shredder or any of its dedicated accessories are damaged, report this to the shipment forwarder and the manufacturer.

With all packaging materials removed, place the shredder on a firm surface at the designated, sheltered installation site. Secure the shredder in position to prevent movement.

It is recommended to apply oil to the cutting blades before every use to extend the life span of the cutting blades greatly.

3. Overview

The shredder features the following components:

Main switch.
Media input.
Operator control panel.
Shredded scrap bin compartment.

Operator Control Panel

The operator control panel includes several buttons and indicators:

1. START A/M BUTTON: Starts a 60-second shredder cycle. Pressing it again switches the operating mode between automatic/manual.
2. STOP BUTTON: Stops the shredder while running.
3. REVERSE BUTTON: Switches the direction of rotation of the shredding blades.
4. OVERLOAD BAR: Displays the current engine load while running.
5. AUTO ICON: Lights up after pressing the START button, indicating automatic operating mode.
6. MANUAL ICON: Illuminates after entering manual mode or activating the knife cleaning function (holding REVERSE for 6 seconds).
7. STOP ICON: Lights up when the STOP button is pressed.
8. REVERSE ICON: Lights up when the REVERSE button is pressed.
9. FULL ICON: Lights up when the shredded scrap bin is full.
10. DOOR OPEN ICON: Lights up when the waste bin or media compartment door is open.

4. Operation

Place the shredder on a hard surface in the designated, sheltered installation area.
Secure the shredder in position to prevent movement.
Ensure the shredded scrap bin is in the compartment and the compartment door is closed.
Open the media input compartment.
Apply oil to the cutting knives.
Extend the power cord and plug it into a power outlet.
Turn on the shredder with the main switch.
Start the cleaning function by holding down the REVERSE button for 6 seconds.
After cleaning, the shredder is ready for use. Place the storage device in the media input compartment and close it.
Start the shredder by pressing the START button.
The shredding cycle takes 60 seconds in automatic mode (3 min in manual mode), during which time the carrier will be completely shredded.
Stop the shredder by pressing the STOP button or by opening the input media drawer.
Place another media in the media input drawer and press the START button to restart the device.
In case of overloading, the shredding knives will stop. To restart, lift the main switch, then start the shredder operation by pressing the START button.
To properly shut down, after the shredding cycle is complete, press the STOP button and use the main switch.
Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and wind it up.

5. Destruction of Storage Media

The OMS130 shredder is designed to destroy data carriers available on the market. By placing media in the input, you can shred various types of media and sizes.

A maximum of two carriers can be shredded in one cycle. If a satisfactory shredded media size is not obtained, the material must be passed through the machine again until the desired result is achieved.

This device is not intended for shredding HDDs, enterprise SSDs, and rugged mobile phones and smartphones.

The ProDevice OMS130 shredder cannot be used for continuous operation.

MANDATORY! [?] Wear safety glasses at all times when working with the device.

DANGER! [?] It is prohibited to open device housing! Removing the housing causes risk of electric shock, injury, serious injury, and/or death.

CAUTION! The shredder can always be stopped by operating:

The STOP button.
The MAIN switch.

6. Safety Precautions

Please read the operating manual before initial start-up, operation, and maintenance of the machine and keep it for later use or for passing on to any subsequent users.

Service may be performed by authorized personnel only.
Before using the device, check if all elements are installed according to the manual instructions.
Never attempt to open and/or modify the device.
If a malfunction is detected, it must be reported immediately to the person responsible. This is important for your own safety and that of others.
This device may be used by people with inexperience and knowledge of the equipment, if supervision or instruction regarding its use is provided in a safe way, ensuring threats are understandable. Children should not play with the device.
Before any adjustment, maintenance, or inspection, always isolate the shredder from the supply voltage by unplugging the power cord from the mains and wait until the shredder cools down.
If power is disconnected, the operator must ensure the machine is disconnected (power cord disconnected and unplugged) from every accessible point. If this is not possible due to design or installation, disconnect using the locking system in the disconnected position from the power supply.
Do not store or use the device in places exposed to moisture or temperatures exceeding the allowed limits.
If the device will not be used for an extended period, disconnect the power cord from the mains.
Disconnect the device from the local power grid during an electrical storm.
Do not allow any liquids to enter the device.
If you notice overheating, turn off the shredder and wait 30 minutes.
The device's weight requires a pallet truck or forklift for removal from the pallet.
The device should be secured during transport with transport belts or other means ensuring mechanical stability.
Never tamper with the shredder's blades by placing any part of the body or foreign objects into the media input.
Do not place objects that might cause a risk of explosion in the feeder tray, such as batteries (rechargeable and non-rechargeable), capacitors, and pressurized containers.
Press the MAIN SWITCH if there is a risk to the operator or the device.

Safe operation requires proper connection to the electrical network according to applicable regulations. The electric shock protection system must comply with standards in force at the place of destination. The shredder should be connected to the mains by a qualified specialist.

The device is equipped with a motor temperature protection system. If the permissible motor operating temperature is exceeded, a red diode on top will light up and flash. Additionally, a buzzer will sound periodically. Using the device in this state is prohibited and may damage it. To continue work, wait until the device cools down until the light and sound signals turn off.

7. Maintenance

[⚠️] CAUTION! Improper handling of the machine can lead to an electric shock.

Disconnect the plug from the power supply before relocation, cleaning, or maintenance.

Before carrying out maintenance, wait 30 seconds after disconnecting the power plug.

Mechanical and electrical maintenance may only be performed by the manufacturer's authorized service.

The device requires an inspection by an authorized service of the manufacturer at least every 10,000 work cycles.

In case of failure or interruption in operation due to damage, contact the authorized service of the manufacturer.

Applying oil to the cutting blades (before every use):

Turn off the device.
Open the media input.
Apply a small amount of oil.
Close the media input.
Turn on the device.
Initiate the cleaning function by holding the REVERSE button for 6 seconds.
Operate the shredder.

8. Possible Faults and Ways to Fix Them

The device does not turn on - socket ok	Lowered circuit breaker in the installation	Lift the fuse or replace it if damaged with a new one of recommended parameters.
The device does not turn on - socket, main switch ok	The main switch in the device is lowered.	Lift the main switch.
The device does not turn on - socket, main switch, power cord ok	Damaged power cord	Replace the power cord with a new one of the same specifications. This operation must be performed by a qualified electrician.
The device does not start operation	START button disabled	Turn on the device by pressing the START button.
The device does not start operation	Defective control panel	Contact service.
Switching off the device operation while destroying the medium	The door of the media input or waste bin is not closed. The LED "Door open" is on.	Close the door and try again.
Switching off the device operation while destroying the medium	Bad microswitch on media input door and/or waste bin	Contact service.
