How Signal Boosters Work
Diagram illustrating signal flow: An outdoor antenna receives a signal from a cell tower and sends it to the booster. The booster amplifies the signal, which is then broadcast by an indoor antenna throughout the space.
Pre-Installation Instructions
The cell phone booster and antennas must be strategically placed for optimal performance and maximum coverage. The HiBoost Signal Supervisor app allows users to communicate with the signal booster via Bluetooth or WiFi, enabling remote monitoring of its performance. Note: Signal Supervisor enabled boosters require a Bluetooth-enabled device for connection.
Professional Installation Tips
- For a fast and optimized installation, use the Signal Supervisor mobile application.
- Completely read the user manual and gather all necessary tools, materials, and accessories before installing.
- A "soft installation" is recommended before permanent mounting to simplify the process and identify potential issues.
- The Signal Supervisor App includes a tool to help locate the best outdoor antenna position, ensuring at least 20 ft of vertical separation between antennas.
- A strong and stable WiFi connection to the booster is important.
Installation Methods
Signal Supervisor App Installation
Before installing the app, ensure the booster unit is powered on and nearby. Note: Turn on Bluetooth before attempting to register the booster to the mobile device.
- Download the Signal Supervisor App from Apple's App Store or Google Play.
- Create a New Account and Log-in: Launch the app, select the HiBoost Server, and log in or create a new account.
- Register the Booster: Add a device via 'My Devices' > 'Add a Device'.
- Follow the step-by-step Quick Installation Guide after registering the booster. Access it via 'My Devices' > 'Select the Booster' > 'Device Details' > 'Quick Install Guide'.
Note: Bluetooth connections are limited to approximately 30 feet. For installation issues, contact technical support via the Online Support Chat.
Manual Installation Method
Before installation, survey and plan the layout of the cell phone signal booster system. Review the following instructions. This setup requires using the outdoor antenna to find the strongest source of nearby cellular signal (direction of the nearest cell phone tower) to optimize system placement.
Steps:
- Finding the Strongest Outdoor Signal
- Install the Booster
- Finalize the Installation
Part A) Outdoor Antenna Installation
An antenna mast is not included. For questions on installing the outdoor antenna, contact the support team at (972) 870-5666. The following are installation instructions for the mounting bracket.
Follow the steps below to install the outdoor antenna with the included mounting hardware:

Part B) Indoor Antenna Installation
When determining the indoor panel antenna location, ensure at least 20 ft of vertical separation between the outdoor and indoor antennas. To prevent oscillation, point the outdoor antenna away from the indoor antenna. The included panel antenna mounts to the wall and covers a sector with a tilted angle. Signal is amplified outwards from the front of the indoor antenna at a horizontal angle of 80 degrees. The height from the floor can vary.
Top view diagram of the indoor antenna showing its coverage pattern: signal is amplified outwards in a sector shape, approximately 78 degrees horizontally.
Follow the steps below to install the indoor antenna:
- Connect the indoor antenna to the booster using the coaxial cable.
- Push the cable firmly into the jack on both the antenna and the booster, then turn the connector sleeve clockwise until tight.
- Find a location to mount the indoor panel antenna and permanently attach it using the provided hardware.

Note: Ensure the indoor and outdoor antennas are pointed away from each other.
Outdoor signal strength affects performance. Install the outdoor antenna on a mast mounted outside (roof, balcony, or ground) in the correct position. Online resources like www.cellmapper.net, www.cellrecption.com, or www.antennasearch.com may assist in finding the best location.
Outdoor Antenna Mounting Steps:
- Once the best location is found, use the provided hardware to mount the outdoor antenna on a mast pointing towards the nearest cell phone tower.
- Connect the outdoor antenna transmission cable to the coaxial cable, then connect this cable to the outdoor port on the booster.
Note:
- Optimizing outdoor antenna installation is easier with the Signal Supervisor app, which provides real-time signal measurements.
- Find the best outdoor antenna location by using a cell phone to monitor signal bars while moving around.
- Perform multiple tests by moving locations and refreshing signal bar readings (e.g., toggling airplane mode).
- Mount the outdoor antenna on a mast at a sufficient height above obstructions (trees, buildings).
Part C) Finalize the Booster Installation
Finalize installation by following these steps:
- Mount or place the signal booster in a dry, cool, and accessible area near a power outlet.

Run the coaxial cable loosely from the indoor and outdoor antennas to the signal booster, securing all connections correctly.
Professional tips
- Be careful when routing and bending cables; protect connectors by wrapping them.
- Keep horizontal cables straight and secure with zip-ties every 3-5 feet.
- Keep vertical cables straight and secure with zip-ties every 6-8 feet.
- Prevent water damage using the provided waterproof tape on the outdoor antenna transmission cable connector.
- Avoid damaging the pins in the center of connectors when attaching cables.
- Carefully plug the power supply into the booster port marked 'DC 12V'.
Note: For safety, use a 1,000 Joule surge protector between the booster's power supply and the AC outlet.
- Check that all LED indicators are green and the following parameters are met:
- ✔️ There are at least 20 feet of vertical separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas.
- ✔️ The front of the outdoor antenna is NOT facing towards the front of the indoor antenna.
- ✔️ All coaxial cable connections to the antennas and booster are properly connected.
