Package Purchase

If you purchased Studio One in a retail box, the product key is included. Register the key, download Studio One, and then activate it upon first launch.

Digital Purchase (Shop.PreSonus.com)

If purchased directly from shop.presonus.com, Studio One will be added to your account. You can find it in your purchase history on My.PreSonus.com. Activation is done online upon first launch.

Creating a MyPreSonus Account

If you haven't already, create an account at my.presonus.com. This account is essential for downloading, activation, accessing additional resources, forums, and technical support. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your account, or link it with your Facebook, Google, or LinkedIn account. You will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive it, contact support@presonus.zendesk.com.

Download & Install

Log in to MyPreSonus.com. Register your product using the product key. Click "View My Product" to access the download page. Download the installer for your OS (Mac or Windows). Use "Show All Systems" if downloading for a different computer. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.

Activation

Studio One requires activation to be used. Launch Studio One after installation. You will be presented with the license agreement.

Click "I Accept" to proceed to the PreSonus login screen.

If you already have an account, enter your MyPreSonus ID and password and click Login.

Online Activation

If your computer is connected to the internet, select "Activate my purchased version of Studio One". If the product key has not been entered, enter it or copy and paste it from your email (or package). Click "Activate" to complete the activation process.

If your computer is not connected to the internet, click "Activate Offline" in the Studio One Activation window. Note the activation code provided. You will need your USB drive, product key, and activation code.

On a computer with internet access, go to my.presonus.com, log in to your account, and register your product. Select "Offline Activation" on the product details page. Click "Activate Software" and enter the activation code provided by Studio One. You may want to name your computer for future reference.

Click "Offline Activation" again and download the "User License" file. Save this file to an external device (e.g., USB, CD-R) and copy it to the computer where Studio One is installed.

In Studio One, navigate to Studio One/Studio One Activation dialog, click "Activate Online", then "Select License File", and load your downloaded User license file to activate Studio One.

Content Installation

Studio One offers additional content, including sound sets, loops, and instruments. Install them via Studio One/Studio One Installation. You can select "Purchased Content" or browse available downloads. You can also install from a file. The "Recommended Installation" includes essential packages. You can customize installation locations.

Installed content will be available in the Studio One browser and Start page.

Melodyne

PreSonus has partnered with Celemony to include Melodyne, a powerful timing and pitch correction tool. Studio One Artist includes a trial version, while Studio One Professional includes Melodyne Essential.

Install Melodyne via Studio One/Studio One Installation and claim your product key.

Hardware Setup

Audio Device Setup

Studio One automatically selects audio devices. To change, go to Studio One/Options/Audio Setup (macOS: Preferences/Options/Audio Setup) or click "Configure Audio Device" on the Start page. Select your audio device from the dropdown. Adjust settings via the "Control Panel" button if available.

Device Block Size: Adjust for latency vs. processing power. Lower values reduce latency (good for tracking), higher values increase latency but allow more processing.

Processing Precision: Studio One Professional offers "double precision" (64-bit floating) for higher quality processing.

Multi-processing: Enabled by default for multi-core CPUs, recommended for best performance.

MIDI Keyboard Setup

Connect your MIDI keyboard controller. Go to Studio One/Options/External Devices (macOS: Preferences/Options/External Devices) or "Configure External Devices" on the Start page. Click "Add...", select your keyboard or choose "New Keyboard". Configure MIDI channels and input/output routing. You can set a keyboard as the default virtual instrument input.
