Hardware Setup
Audio Device Setup
Studio One automatically selects audio devices. To change, go to Studio One/Options/Audio Setup (macOS: Preferences/Options/Audio Setup) or click "Configure Audio Device" on the Start page. Select your audio device from the dropdown. Adjust settings via the "Control Panel" button if available.
Device Block Size: Adjust for latency vs. processing power. Lower values reduce latency (good for tracking), higher values increase latency but allow more processing.
- macOS: Device Block Size is the buffer size, affecting performance.
- Windows: Internal Block Size can be linked to Device Block Size. For optimal performance, keep them linked.
Processing Precision: Studio One Professional offers "double precision" (64-bit floating) for higher quality processing.
Multi-processing: Enabled by default for multi-core CPUs, recommended for best performance.
MIDI Keyboard Setup
Connect your MIDI keyboard controller. Go to Studio One/Options/External Devices (macOS: Preferences/Options/External Devices) or "Configure External Devices" on the Start page. Click "Add...", select your keyboard or choose "New Keyboard". Configure MIDI channels and input/output routing. You can set a keyboard as the default virtual instrument input.
