Assembly Steps
Step 1: Prepare Base and Sides
Identify the base panel and side panels. Insert dowels (118331, 131359) and cam bolts (105811) into the designated holes on the base and side panels as shown in the diagrams. Use appropriate tools like screwdrivers. Ensure correct orientation of parts.
Step 2: Attach Drawer Runners to Side Panels
Attach drawer runners labeled 'IKEA CL' and 'IKEA CR' to the inner sides of the main side panels using screws (146114). Ensure they are correctly oriented and securely fastened.
Step 3: Connect Base and Side Panels
Connect the side panels to the base panel. Insert cam locks (101345) into the larger holes on the side panels and turn them to lock onto the cam bolts from the base panel. This forms the initial frame structure.
Step 4: Add Internal Supports
Attach the internal vertical and horizontal support pieces to the base and side panels using the provided fasteners (e.g., screws 146114, cam locks 101345). This creates the compartments for the drawers.
Step 5: Continue Frame Assembly
Continue adding structural elements to build the main carcass of the chest of drawers, following the sequence of diagrams. This may involve attaching more support beams and panels using dowels, cam bolts, and cam locks.
Step 6: Install Drawer Support Rails
Attach the drawer support rails (e.g., 101345, 192800) to the internal structure using screws (e.g., 119250). Ensure they are level and parallel.
Step 7: Attach Top Panel Supports
Install the supports for the top panel onto the assembled frame using screws (e.g., 101345).
Step 8: Attach Top Panel
Place the top panel onto the assembled frame. Secure it using the appropriate fasteners, likely cam bolts and cam locks, as indicated.
Step 9: Attach Back Panel
Slide or attach the back panel into the grooves or designated areas on the back of the unit. Secure it with small nails or screws provided.
Step 10: Assemble Drawer Boxes (Multiple Steps)
Assemble the individual drawer boxes. This typically involves connecting the drawer sides, front, and back panels using dowels, cam bolts, and cam locks. Insert the drawer bottom panel into the grooves and secure it. Repeat for all drawers.
Step 11: Attach Drawer Runners to Drawers
Attach the corresponding drawer runners (e.g., IKEA CL, IKEA CR) to the assembled drawer boxes using screws.
Step 12: Attach Drawer Fronts
Attach the drawer fronts to the assembled drawer boxes. This usually involves inserting fasteners from the inside of the drawer box into the drawer front.
Step 13: Insert Drawers
Carefully slide the assembled drawers onto the runners installed in the main chest frame. Ensure they slide smoothly.
Step 14: Final Drawer Adjustments
Make any necessary adjustments to the drawer fronts or runners to ensure proper alignment and smooth operation.
Step 15: Wall Anchoring (Crucial Safety Step)
IMPORTANT: To prevent tipover, the furniture must be permanently secured to the wall with the anti-tip device provided.
Follow the instructions for wall anchoring:
- For solid walls (A): Drill a hole of Ø 8 mm (5/16"). Insert the wall plug (10087223) and secure the bracket with a screw (109048).
- For hollow walls (B): Drill a hole of Ø 8 mm (5/16"). Insert the wall plug (10087223) and secure the bracket with a screw (109048).
- For solid wood (C): Use the screw (109048) without a wall plug. Drill a hole of Ø 3 mm (1/8").
If you are uncertain about the wall type or correct fasteners, seek professional advice. More information can be found at www.IKEA.com/secure-it.
