This UD Series represents superhigh fidelity cassette tapes for music appreciation by audiophiles, offering exceptional reliability in electro-acoustic properties, running efficiency, and uniformity. The UD Cassette Series features high sensitivity, a high S/N ratio, and a high saturation level. Its dynamic range in the extra-high-pass frequency characteristic is fully equivalent to open reel tapes, providing low-noise, high-output performance. Compared to conventional cassette tapes, elongation in high-pass is improved by up to 8dB, enabling reproduction across a wide range from ultralow to superhigh sounds.

PX Gamma Hematite Technology

The PX (Pure X'tal) gamma hematite is an ideal material newly developed for superhigh-fidelity music recording. It excels in crystallization and granulation, with negligible voids. This results in uniform, ideal granular shapes (0.4 µm grain length, 8:1 axial ratio), leading to high output in high-pass frequencies and drastically reduced noise and print-through. Small voids in the crystal structure improve packing density, enabling unprecedented high output, high M.O.L., and high saturation levels. Special chemical treatment of the grain surface enhances dispersion and orientation forces, achieving high linearity and reducing DC noise. This treatment also improves antistatic effects, enhances tape running efficiency, and eliminates drop-outs.

Superior Mechanism Design

Maxell has redefined cassette molding through precision design of the cassette half and its components. The cassette half, constructed from high-impact, shock- and heat-resistant material, features a special metal mold design. High dimensional precision, perpendicularity, horizontality, and true circularity eliminate running troubles, wow, and flutter.
