HiBy R1 Quick Guide
Thank you for purchasing the portable digital audio player HiBy R1. To help you get the best out of the R1, this user guide has been compiled to introduce you to the R1's features and how to use them. Please read thoroughly in the first days of ownership. The HiBy R1 is a high performance, high fidelity digital audio player that supports DSD, DXD, WAV, FLAC, MQA, ALAC, APE, WMA lossless/lossy, AIFF, AAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis and other lossless/lossy music formats.
Buttons and Ports
The HiBy R1 features the following buttons and ports:
- ① 3.5mm Headphone Jack: Supports CTIA standard line control, but not MIC.
- ② Type-C Interface: Supports USB DAC OUT. A dedicated cable is required and can be purchased from official stores.
- ③ MicroSD Card Slot: Supports up to 2TB.
- ④ Hanging Rope Hole: For attaching a lanyard.
- ⑤ Power Button: Click to turn on/off the screen, long-press to turn on/off the device.

HiBy Music App
The R1 works best with the HiBy Music Android/iOS app. It supports WiFi music transfer, allowing you to transfer songs from mobile phones, computers, and tablets to the R1 via a shared WiFi. The HiByLink remote control function connects to and controls the R1 via mobile phone Bluetooth, enabling you to change tracks, select songs, and manage playlists remotely. Scan the QR code to download the HiBy Music app.
Wireless Connections
- WiFi: Supports 2.4GHz WiFi for streaming music, internet usage, music transfer, HiByLink remote control, and DLNA/LAN music connection using the HiByMusic app.
- Bluetooth: Supports Bluetooth 5.1 and high-definition Bluetooth protocols like LDAC and aptX.
Firmware Upgrade
- OTA Online Upgrade: Connect to WiFi and navigate to System Settings > System Upgrade > Network Upgrade to update to the latest firmware.
- MicroSD Card Update: Download the appropriate firmware from www.hiby.com, import it to a MicroSD card, insert the card into the device, and navigate to System Settings > System Upgrade > MicroSD Card Upgrade.
Other Functions
Hardware Reset/Force Reboot: Hold the power button for over 10 seconds to reset or reboot the player.
Important Notes and Cautions
- Do not repair, disassemble, or place the product in a place with water.
- When the product is not used for a long time, periodically charge it to ensure battery life.
- Charging with a charger with too high voltage may damage the device. Please use a recommended charger.
- If the battery is replaced improperly, there is a risk of explosion. Only use the same type or equivalent type of battery for replacement.
- The battery (battery pack or assembled battery) must not be exposed to heat such as sunshine, fire, or similar overheating environments.
- If using a power adapter, ensure it is CCC certified and meets standard requirements.
- When using headphones, external environments may not be audible. For your safety, avoid using headphones in dangerous environments.
