HiBy R2 II Portable Digital Audio Player
Thank you for purchasing the HiBy R2 II portable digital audio player. This user guide will introduce you to the features and usage of the R2 II.
Please read this guide carefully during the first few days of ownership.
The HiBy R2 II is a high-performance, high-fidelity digital audio player that supports a wide range of lossless and lossy music formats including DSD, DXD, WAV, FLAC, MQA, ALAC, APE, WMA lossless/lossy, AIFF, AAC, MP3, MP2, and Ogg Vorbis.

The screen is a 2.45-inch IPS multi-touch screen with a resolution of 480*360.
Power Button
Press and hold for 2 seconds to power on. Press and hold when powered on to power off. A short press when powered on will turn the screen on or off.
Micro SD Card
The R2 II features an external micro SD card slot for music storage, supporting cards up to 2TB. When inserting a micro SD card for the first time or after replacing a card, a database scan is required. When connecting the R2 II to a computer as a card reader, do not remove the USB cable until the "Safely Remove Hardware" pop-up appears after transferring songs.
Multi-color LED
The LED color changes based on the sample rate:
- Red: Charging
- Yellow: 32k~84k
- Aqua: 64k~192k
- Orange: ≥352.8k
- White: DSD64~256
- Green: MQA
- Blue: MQA Studio
- Magenta: MQA Rendering
Ports
- USB Type C Port: For USB DAC, data transfer, charging, and coaxial digital output.
- 3.5mm Headphone Port: For CTIA standard headsets. Inline remotes are not supported.
HiBy Music App
The HiBy Music app offers various functions, including WiFi music transfer and HiByLink remote control. WiFi music transfer allows you to send songs from your smartphone, computer, or tablet to the R2 II via WiFi. HiByLink enables remote control of the R2 II from your smartphone, allowing you to change songs, select tracks, and manage your music library.
USB DAC
To use the R2 II as a USB DAC, set "USB Mode" to "Audio" in the system settings and connect the device to your computer using the included USB data cable.
Bluetooth Sound Card
Use the R2 II as a Bluetooth sound card: USB → R2 II → Bluetooth Headphones. Alternatively, when using the R2 II as a USB DAC, you can listen to music using Bluetooth headphones/speakers. It supports LDAC 96kHz and UAT up to 192kHz.
Digital Source (Bluetooth Input)
Bluetooth Audio → R2 II → USB Audio. Connecting to your smartphone or other devices via Bluetooth audio turns the R2 II into a high-fidelity digital audio source. It supports coaxial digital output or USB audio output, LDAC 96kHz, and UAT up to 192kHz.
Digital Source (WiFi Input)
You can send music to the R2 II via WiFi using DLNA (e.g., BubbleUPnP app) on Android or AirPlay (integrated into the system's slide-up menu) on iOS. The R2 II then becomes a lossless quality digital audio source. It supports coaxial digital output or USB audio output.
Wireless Functions
- WiFi: Supports 2.4GHz WiFi for music transfer, HiByLink (requires HiBy Music app), DLNA, Airplay, OTA online updates, and internet radio. Streaming apps like TIDAL and Qobuz are also supported (displayed when the system language is set to something other than Simplified Chinese).
- Bluetooth: Supports Bluetooth 5.1 and various high-quality Bluetooth protocols such as UAT, LDAC (2-way), and aptX.
Firmware Update
- OTA Upgrade: Turn on WiFi in Wireless Settings, connect to WiFi, then tap "System Settings" → "Firmware Update" → "Via WIFI". The R2 II will be updated.

Important Notes and Precautions
- Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the product, or place it in water.
- If the product will not be used for an extended period, regular charging is necessary to ensure battery longevity.
- Using headphones can make you unaware of your surroundings. For safety, avoid using headphones in dangerous environments.
- Using an over-voltage charger without smart quick charge functionality may damage the product. Please use an appropriate charger.
- If the system crashes, you can force a restart by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds.
