Anycubic Kobra 2 Plus Firmware Upgrade Guide

1. Tips:

⚠️ Please make sure to follow this guide and do not skip any steps.

After updating the firmware, from the main interface, click on the Tools icon, then the Control icon, followed by Module Calibration, and finally Position Calibration. The machine will automatically perform detection and pause near the top of the calibration module. You can adjust the nozzle to the center position of the calibration module using the distance units and X/Y axis movement directions on the interface. Once done, click Save, and then perform the automatic leveling again.

2. Upgrade Steps:

2.1. Connect to Wi-Fi:

Plug in the device and turn it on. On the main interface, click on the Settings icon (gear symbol), then Cloud, WLAN, and activate the WLAN option. The device will automatically search for nearby 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signals.

Select the corresponding Wi-Fi signal, input the password, and the device will connect to Wi-Fi when the Wi-Fi icon on the left turns blue.

2.2. Upgrade Firmware:

  3. More Settings Menu (Page 1): A screen with options such as 'Key Sound', 'Screen Off', 'PID Pid Calibration', 'Guide', 'Language', 'About Machine', and 'System Restore'. The 'About Machine' option is typically found by scrolling down.

Click on the top-left corner '⬅️' icon to return to the Settings interface. From the Settings menu, click More Settings, then About Machine. An arrow icon indicates the next step. The device will prompt you to confirm the upgrade. After confirming, the firmware upgrade will automatically complete within 3 minutes.

Confirmation and Progress Screens:

  1. About Machine Screen: Displays information like 'Machine: Anycubic Kobra 2 Plus', 'Firmware Version: Anycubic 1.0.0', 'Print Size: 220*220*250mm', and 'WIFI IP: 192.168.1.1'.
  2. Firmware Update Prompt: A dialog box appears asking, "Find new firmware version, are you sure you want to update?" with Cancel and Confirm buttons.
  3. Updating Firmware Message: A message indicating, "Updating firmware, please keep the printer powered on. It will automatically restart after updating."

3. Device Calibration:

After the firmware upgrade is complete, the device will automatically restart. Once the device restarts, it will prompt you to go through the setup process again. Please do not skip this setup. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.

Device Setup and Calibration Flow:

A series of screens guiding the user through initial setup after a firmware upgrade:

  • Language Selection: Options for '简体中文' (Simplified Chinese) and 'English'.
  • Area Selection: Options for 'Global' and 'China'.
  • Network Configuration: Displays available Wi-Fi networks like 'Anycubic-Office', 'Ax56U', 'Huawei 5G', 'Openwrt'.
  • Cloud Connection: Shows options to 'Install APP' and 'Bind Account' via QR code.
  • Complete Setup: A screen with the Anycubic logo and the text "For Freedom To Make", prompting to 'Enjoy Your 3D Printing'.
  • Start Operation Guide: Asks if the user wants to start the operation guide with 'YES'/'NO' options.
  • Insert U-Disk: Instructions to insert a U-Disk according to a diagram.
  • Self Test: Steps for 'X Axis Detection', 'Y Axis Detection', 'Z Axis Detection'.
  • Auto-Level: Steps for 'Preheating', 'Wiping Nozzle', 'Probe'.
  • Load Filament: Instructions to insert filament into the print head until extruded.
  • Vibration Compensation: Message "Detecting the resonance, don't touch the Printer."
  • Print The Model: Asks "Print The Model?" with 'YES'/'NO' options.

If you do not receive a prompt to go through the setup process, follow these steps:

On the main screen, click on Settings. Then click More Settings. In the next screen, click on Guide. You will be asked if you want to enter the user guide; click Confirm to proceed. This will ensure that the device is properly calibrated after the firmware upgrade.

4. Version Confirmation:

Go to Settings, then More Settings, and finally About Machine to check if the firmware version has been successfully updated.

Troubleshooting Guide

If there is a leveling anomaly, please follow the steps below to check:

Leveling Anomaly Message:

A dialog box stating: "The module is abnormal. Please calibrate the module and wiring" with a Confirm button.

  1. After powering off, check the wiring of the leveling calibration module to ensure it is connected properly. Then, restart the machine.
  2. Press Tools > Control > Module Calibration > Position Calibration. Use the X Move and Y Move options on the screen to move the nozzle to the center point of the calibration module. Once done, click on Save. Afterward, perform the leveling operation again.
