Model No. NTL19011.1

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your NordicTrack ELITE 9500 PRO treadmill.

Welcome and Safety Information

Thank you for choosing the NordicTrack ELITE 9500 PRO treadmill. This manual is designed to help you get the most out of your equipment and ensure safe operation. Please read all instructions and warnings before using the treadmill.

Key Precautions

  • Always consult a physician before beginning any exercise program, especially if you are over 35 or have pre-existing health conditions.
  • This treadmill is intended for home use only.
  • Place the treadmill on a level surface with adequate clearance (8 ft. / 2.4 m behind, 2 ft. / 0.6 m on each side). Use a protective mat to prevent floor damage.
  • Keep children under 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times.
  • The maximum user weight is 375 lbs (170 kg).
  • Wear appropriate exercise clothing and athletic shoes. Do not use the treadmill barefoot, in socks, or in sandals.
  • Always use a surge suppressor (not included) with the power cord. Ensure it meets specifications (UL 1449, 400V or less, 450 joules, 120V AC, 15 amps).
  • Never start the treadmill while standing on the walking belt. Always hold the handrails while using the treadmill.
  • Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop procedure (pulling the key).
  • Save this manual for future reference.

Important Warnings

  • [Warning Symbol] To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury, read all precautions and warnings on the treadmill and in this manual.
  • [Danger Symbol] Improper connection of the power cord increases the risk of electric shock. If the plug does not fit an outlet, have a qualified electrician install a proper outlet.

Assembly and Setup

Assembly

Assembly requires two people. Clear a space and remove packing materials. Tools needed include the included hex key, an adjustable wrench, and a Phillips screwdriver. Do not use power tools.

Key assembly steps include:

  • Attaching wheel caps to the base using screws.
  • Routing wires through the base and uprights.
  • Securing the uprights with screws and washers.
  • Attaching handrail brackets and connecting wires.
  • Connecting the console wires and mounting the console.
  • Tightening all screws and attaching base covers.
  • Installing the storage latch.
  • Attaching rear leveling feet and adjusting them for stability.
  • Inserting the grommet.
  • Adjusting the cushioning system to the desired firmness.
  • Ensuring all parts are properly tightened before use.

A diagram showing the location of warning decals is provided in the original document.

Connecting Power

To protect your treadmill from power surges, always use a surge suppressor. Plug the power cord into the surge suppressor, and the suppressor into a properly grounded outlet. Avoid overloading the circuit by not plugging other high-power devices into the same circuit. The treadmill is not compatible with GFCI-equipped outlets.

Initial Console Setup

Before first use, connect the console to your wireless network, check for firmware updates, calibrate the incline system, and create an iFit account if desired. Follow on-screen prompts for these steps.

Using Your Treadmill

Console Overview

The console features a full-color touch screen and various buttons for controlling your workout. It displays instant exercise feedback, allows heart rate monitoring, and provides access to iFit features.

Workout Modes

  • Manual Mode: Start the walking belt and manually adjust speed and incline using the console buttons. Monitor your progress on the display.
  • Onboard Workouts: Select from pre-programmed workouts designed for calorie burning, intensity, speed, or incline. The treadmill automatically adjusts speed and incline for each segment.
  • Set-a-Goal Workout: Define a personal goal for calories, time, distance, or pace, and the treadmill will guide you to achieve it.
  • iFit Workouts: Requires a wireless network connection and an iFit account. Download personalized training programs, track results, and engage in virtual races. Access iFit features via www.iFit.com.

Heart Rate Monitoring

Your treadmill is equipped with handgrip heart rate sensors. For more accurate readings, you can use an optional chest heart rate monitor (see page 16 for details). Ensure contacts are clean and hands are dry. Note: Using both monitors simultaneously may affect accuracy.

Fan Operation

The console includes a fan with manual and auto modes. The auto mode adjusts fan speed based on treadmill speed.

Folding and Moving

To fold the treadmill, first set the incline to zero, remove the key, and unplug the power cord. Raise the frame until the latch knob locks. Moving the treadmill may require two people. Carefully lower the treadmill after moving.

Emergency Stop

In case of emergency, pull the key from the console to quickly stop the walking belt.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Care and Maintenance

  • Keep the treadmill clean and dry.
  • Regularly inspect and tighten all parts.
  • Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or platform unless specifically instructed by an authorized service representative, as this can damage the belt.
  • Always unplug the power cord after use, before cleaning, and before performing maintenance.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Power Not Turning On: Check power cord connection to a surge suppressor and a grounded outlet. Ensure the key is inserted and the power switch is not tripped.
  • Power Turns Off During Use: Verify power switch status, ensure the power cord is securely plugged in, and try reinserting the key.
  • Console Screen Remains Lit After Key Removal: The display demo mode may be active. Disable it via the console settings.
  • Incline Not Changing Correctly: Calibrate the incline system through the console settings.
  • iFit Workouts Not Functioning: Ensure the treadmill has the latest firmware installed.
  • Wireless Network Connection Problems: Confirm wireless settings and password accuracy on both the console and your network.
  • Walking Belt Slows or Slips: Check surge suppressor usage. If the belt is overtightened, adjust idler roller screws counterclockwise. If it slips, tighten idler roller screws clockwise. Ensure the belt is centered and properly tightened (lift edge 2-3 inches / 5-7 cm). Do not apply unauthorized lubricants.

Exercise Guidelines and Warranty

Exercise Intensity and Guidelines

To achieve fitness goals, exercise at the appropriate intensity level, guided by your heart rate. Warm up for 5-10 minutes, engage in 20-30 minutes of training within your target heart rate zone, and cool down with stretching. Aim for 3-5 workouts per week for maintenance and improvement.

Ordering Parts and Warranty

Replacement parts can be ordered by providing the model number, product name, and part key number (found in the Part List and Exploded Drawings sections of this manual). The product is covered by a limited warranty: lifetime on frame, drive motor, and walking platform; five years on parts and electronics; and two years on labor. Refer to the manual for full warranty details and exclusions.
