Start Here
- Find a clear area in which you can work.
- Unpack fixture and glass from carton.
- Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.
Mounting to Junction Box with or without Plug
Diagram 1 - Mounting shows a fixture with parts labeled A, B, C, J. It illustrates mounting to a junction box.
- Release mounting plate [A] by removing screws [C].
- Secure mounting plate [A] to junction box [J] using screws not provided.
- If plug is not being used, remove plug at this time by removing wirenuts [N] and using plug [P] to cover hole left by removing plug - see Drawing 3. Follow (IS-18) on the next page for wiring instructions.
- Secure backplate [B] to mounting plate [A] using the previously removed screws [C].
- Fixture can now be plugged in if plug is being used.
Non-Junction Box Mounting
Diagram 2 - Mounting without Jbox shows parts labeled A, B, C, W, S. It illustrates mounting to a wall without a junction box.
- Release mounting plate [A] by removing screws [C].
- Secure mounting plate [A] to wall using wall anchors [W] and screws [S].
- Secure backplate [B] to mounting plate [A] using the previously removed screws [C].
- Fixture can now be plugged in.
Removing Plug
Diagram 3 - Removing plug shows parts labeled P, N. It illustrates removing a plug and wirenuts.
Safety Warning
READ WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS (I.S. 18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS.
Shade Assembly
Diagram 4 - Shade Assembly shows parts labeled Y, 2, 1, 3, Z, T. It illustrates the process of attaching the glass shade.
It is recommended that the socket and stem assembly [Y] is mounted to the wall prior to installing the glass. To install glass follow steps 1-5 below.
- To install glass [1], first thread coupler [2] off of the center stem assembly [A] - see Drawing 1. This will allow the glass cap [3] to slide along the center stem freely.
- Prior to attaching the glass to the fixture body, the bulb should be installed.
- Next, take glass [1] and slip one side of bracket [Z] into the top of glass. Now slide glass over and slip the opposite side of bracket [Z] into the top of glass. Rest glass on tabs [T] of bracket [Z].
- Now slide glass cap [3] down over the hole in the top of glass and thread coupler [2] down the center stem to lock glass in place.
- Fixture assembly is complete and power can be restored.
Note: Arms have 60 degrees of motion on either side.
Arm Adjustment
Diagram 5 - Arm adjustment shows an illustration of adjustable arms with a swivel range indicated.
Wiring Instructions
Indoor Fixtures
- Connect positive supply wire [A] (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead [B] with an appropriately sized twist-on connector - see Drawings 1 or 2.
- Connect negative supply wire [C] (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead [D].
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
Outdoor Fixtures
- Connect positive supply wire [A] (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to positive fixture lead [B] with an appropriately sized twist-on connector - see Drawings 2 or 3.
- Connect negative supply wire [C] (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead [D].
- Cover open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
- If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform specially.
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
Grounding Instructions
Flush Mount Fixtures
For positive grounding in a 3-wire electrical system, fasten the fixture ground wire [E] (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture mounting strap [M] with the ground screw [S] - see Drawing 1. Note: On straps for screw supported fixtures, first install the two mounting screws in strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground screw.
Chain Hung Fixtures
Loop fixture ground wire [E] (typically copper or green plastic coated) under the head of the ground screw [S] on fixture mounting strap [M] and connect to the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors - see Drawing 2.
Post-Mount Fixtures
Connect fixture ground wire [E] (typically copper or green plastic coated) to power supply ground with an appropriately sized twist-on connector inside post. Cover open end of connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal - see Drawing 3.
Safety Warning
READ WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS (IS 18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS.
