Important Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, follow these basic measures:
- Connect to a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not remove the ground prong.
- Do not use an adapter.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Unplug the air conditioner before performing maintenance.
- Two or more people are needed to move and install the air conditioner.
Unit Handling
- Recycle or dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
- Never store or transport the air conditioner upside down or on its side to avoid compressor damage.
- The appliance is not intended for use by children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Refrigerants in air conditioners must be removed according to federal law before disposal. Contact your local waste disposal company for requirements.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire; they may explode or leak.
Installation Requirements
Tools and Parts
Before starting installation, gather the necessary tools and parts. Verify all supplied parts are included.
Tools Required:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Pencil
- Scissors
Parts Supplied:
The kit includes various panels (A, B, C, D), a dummy coupling, exhaust hose, window adapter, and screws/seals.
Location Requirements
The flexible exhaust hose allows placement between 23 5/8" and 64 1/8" (60 cm to 163 cm) from the window or door.
Portable air conditioners are designed for supplementary cooling in localized areas within a room.

NOTE: Adjust BTUs based on room use and location:
- Reduce capacity by 10% for shaded rooms.
- Increase capacity by 10% for sunny rooms.
- Increase capacity by 600 BTUs per person for occupancy over 2 people.
- Increase capacity by 4,000 BTUs for kitchen use.
Window Installation Diagrams
Diagrams illustrate installation for vertical and horizontal sliding windows, showing panel configurations and sealing methods.
For Vertical Sliding Windows: Panels A, C, and D are used depending on window height. Foam seals (M, N) are applied to the window frame, and seal A is used between the glass and frame. A window-close support may be installed using screws E (for wood) or F (for metal).
For Horizontal Sliding Windows: Similar panel configurations (A, C, D) and sealing methods apply. Foam seals (M, N) are applied to the frame, and seal A is used between the glass and frame. A security support may be installed using screws E or F.
Electrical Requirements
⚠️ WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard.
- Connect to a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not remove the ground prong.
- Do not use an adapter.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
The portable air conditioner must be connected to a 115V, 60Hz, 15-amp, 3-prong grounded outlet. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. All wiring must comply with local and national electrical codes and be installed by a qualified electrician.
Installation Instructions
Unpacking the Air Conditioner
⚠️ WARNING: This unit is heavy. Two or more people are required for moving and installation. Failure to do so may result in back or other injuries.
- Keep the unit upright for at least 2 hours before use to prevent compressor damage.
- Remove all packaging materials. Clean any adhesive residue with a soft cloth and mild detergent, then dry.
- Avoid using sharp instruments, alcohol, flammable liquids, or abrasive cleaners on the unit's surface.
- Handle the air conditioner with care.
Power Cord
The unit is equipped with a UL-required power cord featuring advanced current leakage detection technology. If the cord is crushed, it will detect the leakage and disconnect power instantly.
Testing the Power Cord:
- Plug the power cord into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Press the RESET button (a green light may illuminate).
- Press the TEST button (you will hear a click; the RESET button will engage, and the green light may turn off).
- Press and release the RESET button (you will hear a click; the RESET button will reset, and the green light may illuminate). The power cord is now ready for use.
NOTES:
- Press the RESET button for optimal function.
- Replace the power cord if it fails the TEST or RESET function.
- Do not use the power cord as an on/off switch; it is a safety device.
- Do not attempt to repair the cord; use only manufacturer-approved replacements.
- Opening the cord's test box will void the warranty.
Installing the Exhaust Hose and Adapter
- Move the air conditioner to its desired location. Refer to "Location Requirements".
- Stretch the hose and attach the coupling to the flexible exhaust hose. Turn clockwise until locked.
- Attach the window adapter to the flexible exhaust hose. Turn clockwise until locked.
- Insert the dummy coupling into the rear slot of the air conditioner.
- Slide down to secure the hose in place.
Installing the Window Kit
The window slider kit is designed to fit most standard vertical and horizontal windows. Insert the exhaust window adapter into the window slider kit.
Portable Air Conditioner Use
Proper operation ensures optimal results. This section explains correct usage.
Starting Your Portable Air Conditioner
The air conditioner display shows the current room temperature. Compressor delays (3-5 minutes) occur when changing modes or after power interruptions.
In COOL or DRY modes, the fan, compressor, and condenser will stop when the set temperature is reached.
NOTE: After a power failure, the unit will resume operation with previous settings.
To Start the Air Conditioner:
- Select the MODE (e.g., COOL, DRY, FAN ONLY, HEAT).
- Select the FAN SPEED (e.g., HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, AUTO).
- Set the TEMPERATURE using the '+' and '-' buttons.
- Press the POWER button to turn the unit ON.
IMPORTANT: Keep the unit upright for at least 2 hours before use to prevent compressor damage. The unit may start in SMART mode upon first use.
Modes of Operation
- COOL: Cools the room. Adjust fan speed and temperature.
- DRY: Maintains a dry environment. The fan operates at low speed. Not intended for cooling.
- FAN ONLY: Circulates air. Select fan speed.
- HEAT (Optional): Heats the room. Adjust fan speed and temperature. Not available on all models.
- SMART: Automatically sets temperature and fan speed based on room conditions.
Fan Speed
Press the FAN button to select the desired fan speed: AUTO, HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW. AUTO speed adjusts based on room temperature and settings.
NOTE: Automatic fan speed cannot be selected in FAN ONLY mode.
Temperature Adjustment
Use the '+' button to increase temperature and the '-' button to decrease it, typically in 1°F (1°C) increments.
To switch between °C and °F, press the '+' and '-' buttons simultaneously.
NOTES:
- In COOL or HEAT mode, temperature can be adjusted between 61°F and 86°F (16°C and 30°C).
- Temperature cannot be adjusted in FAN ONLY mode.
Using the Remote Control
Point the remote control at the unit's signal receiver. It operates within approximately 23 feet (7m).
Remote Control Buttons:
- ON/OFF: Turns the unit on or off.
- MODE: Selects operating mode (COOL, DRY, FAN ONLY, HEAT, SMART).
- FAN: Adjusts fan speed (AUTO, HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW).
- UP/DOWN: Adjusts temperature or timer settings.
- SLEEP: Activates sleep mode for comfortable nighttime operation.
- TIMER ON/OFF: Sets a timer for automatic operation.
- CLOCK: Sets the current time.
- SWING: Controls the vertical airflow direction.
- I FEEL: Allows the remote to sense room temperature and adjust unit operation for comfort.
- DIMMER: Turns off unit lights and display.
- SUPER: Initiates rapid cooling or heating.
LCD Symbols: Various symbols indicate cooling, dry mode, fan speed (auto, high, medium, low), heating, smart mode, sleep mode, I FEEL, signal transmission, timer settings, and current temperature.
Battery Installation: Use 2 AAA batteries. Ensure correct polarity. Replace batteries when the display dims or after 6 months.
Storage: The unit may have a remote control holder on the back.
Portable Air Conditioner Care
Draining the Air Conditioner
If the unit's internal water tank is full (indicated by an "E5" error code), drain the unit.
- Unplug the unit.
- Move the unit to a drainage area or outdoors.
- Remove the primary drain plug and cap.
- Allow all water to drain.
- Replace the primary drain plug and cap.
- Plug the unit back in.
Exterior Cleaning
- Turn off and unplug the unit.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
- Plug in and turn on the unit.
Air Filter Cleaning
Clean the air filter regularly for optimal performance.
- Turn off and unplug the unit.
- Open the filter access panel and remove the filter(s).
- Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner. If very dirty, wash with warm water and mild detergent.
- NOTE: Do not wash the filter in a dishwasher or use chemical cleaners.
- Ensure the filter is completely dry before reinserting.
- Reinstall the filter and close the panel.
Storing After Use
- Drain all water.
- Run the unit in FAN ONLY mode for about 12 hours to dry the interior.
- Unplug the unit.
- Disconnect and store the exhaust hose, window kit, and remote control in a clean, dry area.
- Clean the air filter and the unit's exterior.
Troubleshooting
Before calling for service, review these common issues.
Air Conditioner Not Working
- Check if the power cord is plugged in.
- Ensure the correct fuse or circuit breaker is used.
- Press the RESET button on the power cord if it has tripped.
- Check house fuses or circuit breakers.
- Ensure the ON/OFF button was pressed.
- Verify local power supply.
- If multiple appliances share a circuit, unplug others.
- Wait at least 3 minutes after turning off the unit before restarting or changing modes.
Power Cord Issues
Electrical disturbances may trip the power cord's RESET button. Press RESET to resume operation. If the cord fails after resetting, call for service. Do not attempt to repair the cord.
Unit Seems to Run Excessively
- Ensure all doors and windows are closed.
- Newer, more efficient components may operate differently than older models but consume less energy.
- If the room is crowded or contains heat-generating appliances, consider ventilation or reducing appliance use during peak heat. Portable units provide supplementary cooling.
- Ensure the room size is appropriate for the unit's capacity.
Unit Runs for Short Periods, Room Not Cool
- Set temperature appropriately for the room.
- Lower the temperature setting.
Error Codes
- E5: Unit is full of water. Drain the unit.
- E1/E2/E3/E4/EA: Contact customer service.
Air Conditioner Works But Does Not Cool
- Clean the air filter if dirty or obstructed.
- Ensure the air outlet is not blocked.
- Lower the set temperature if it is too high.
Unit Cycle Times Are Excessively Long
- Verify the unit's cooling capacity is appropriate for the room size.
- Clean the air filter.
- Address excessive heat or humidity in the room.
- Ensure air vents are not blocked by furniture or curtains.
Warranty
Limited Two-Year Manufacturer's Warranty
This warranty, provided by Hisense U.S.A. Corporation, covers the Portable Air Conditioner in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and U.S. Virgin Islands. It excludes third-party accessories. The warranty applies when the product is used according to instructions.
Hisense will, at its discretion, repair or refund defects in materials or workmanship for the following periods:
- 8K BTU & 10K BTU Models: Two (2) years for Parts and Labor from the date of purchase (receipt required).
- 12K BTU & 14K BTU Models: Two (2) years for Parts and Labor (in-home service), and three (3) years for Compressor Parts from the date of purchase (receipt required).
Commercial use or rental is not covered.
What is Not Covered:
- Non-Hisense parts or accessories.
- Repairs for installation, user instruction, or home electrical adjustments.
- Service for non-domestic use.
- Damage from accidents, misuse, abuse, fire, flood, acts of God, improper installation, or use of unapproved accessories.
- Service outside the specified U.S. territories.
- Service resulting from unauthorized modifications.
- Product packaging for return.
- Damage caused by unauthorized service providers or non-genuine Hisense parts.
Disclaimer of Implied Warranties: Limitation of Remedies
This warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal, non-commercial use. It does not cover consumer instruction, delivery, installation, cosmetic damage, or damage from environmental factors, misuse, or unauthorized repairs. The warranty is void if the serial number is altered. This warranty is valid only in the U.S., Guam, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Hisense is the exclusive provider of warranty service.
Hisense is not liable for incidental or consequential damages. Consumer recovery will not exceed the purchase price of the product. This warranty is non-transferable.
