Dwyer Series DM-1000 DigiMag® Digital Differential Pressure Gage

Specifications - Installation and Operating Instructions

Bulletin P-DM-1100

Introduction

The Series DM-1000 DigiMag® Digital Differential Pressure Gage is designed as a modern replacement for analog mechanical pressure gauges. It offers enhanced versatility with field-programmable engineering units, allowing users to select from eight commonly used units plus percent of full scale, eliminating the need for manual calculations. A key feature for filter applications is a programmable set point that causes the display to blink when the filter is dirty, alerting the user to maintenance needs.

Programming the DM-1000 is user-friendly via a menu key that accesses four simplified menus for security level, engineering units, filter set point, peak/valley readings, digital damping, display update rate, and zero/span calibration.

The gage provides high accuracy, typically ±1% of full scale on ranges down to 2" w.c., and ±2% on lower ranges (1" to 0.25" w.c.). It supports bi-directional ranges and offers flexible power options, operating on 9-24 VDC line power or a 9V battery. When both are connected, the battery serves as a backup.

Installation

The gage requires a vertical mounting position, which is its factory calibration orientation. A 4-9/16" diameter opening is needed in the panel. The gage is secured using provided screws and adapters.

Included Accessories:

  • Mounting lugs (3)
  • 6-20 x 2-1/2 screws (3)
  • 4-20 x 3/8 screws (3) (mounting hole depth 3/8" [9.53])
  • Cable gland (1)

Diagram Description: A dimensional drawing shows the overall diameter, pressure connection ports (labeled '+' and '-'), and mounting hole locations for both standard and flange mounting.

Pressure Connections: Two integral tubing connections are located on the back. They accommodate 3/16" (4.8 mm) I.D. x 5/16" (7.9 mm) O.D. flexible PVC tubing. For single positive pressure, connect to the '+' port and vent the '-' port. For vacuum, connect to the '-' port and vent the '+' port. For differential pressure, connect higher pressure to '+' and lower pressure to '-'. Ensure tubing pressure ratings exceed operating ranges.

Electrical Connections: The unit can be powered by a 9V battery or an external 9-24 VDC power supply. The battery acts as a backup if line power is interrupted.

Battery Installation: The unit ships with a separate 9V battery. Remove the top back cover, connect the battery to the holder, and replace the cover, tightening screws to 2 ±.25 in. lbs.

External Power Supply Installation: Remove the unit's back cover and connect the external power supply to the terminal block.

Caution: Ensure power is OFF during wiring. Do not exceed specified supply voltage ratings to prevent permanent damage.

Operating Instructions

The gage features a menu system accessible via front panel buttons: MENU, UP (⬆️), DOWN (⬇️), and ENTER (E).

Key Functions:

  • MENU: Allows access to menus. In the Home Position, it returns to the Home Position. In a Sub Menu, it returns to the previous menu.
  • UP (⬆️): Displays pressure readings instantly (in RATE KEY MODE only). Sequences through menus. Increments a value.
  • DOWN (⬇️): Sequences through menus. Decrements a value.
  • ENTER (E): Displays full scale range of the unit. Enters SUB MENU. Changes a value or setting: press ENTER, adjust with UP/DOWN arrows, press ENTER again to save.

Menu Map Diagram Description: A flowchart shows the navigation. From the Home position, pressing MENU accesses MAIN MENUS: Security (SECr), Operation (OPEr), Display (diS), and Advanced (AdU). Each main menu has SUB MENUS for specific settings like security level, units (e.g., PrES-INWC), filter type (FILt), damping (DAMP), display update rate (rAtE), peak/valley values (PEAK, VALY), and calibration (Auto ZERO, CAL-SPAN).

Programming Instructions:

  • Security Menu (SECr-MENU): Access by holding MENU until Security Menu appears. Press E to access SUB MENU (SECr-0001). Security levels (1-3) control menu access. A password is required for certain levels.
