AUTOOL BT70 Battery Capacity Tester User Manual
Brief Introduction
The AUTOOL BT70 is a battery tester designed for evaluating the performance of start-up lead-acid batteries. It features a large LCD display that shows test processes and results via sound alarms and icons. The device incorporates enhanced internal protections against reverse polarity connection, high voltage input, and poor test clamp contact, ensuring safer and more convenient operation.
Safety Rules and Precautions
This manual provides instructions for using the instrument and warnings for safe operation and maintenance. Use the battery tester strictly according to this manual. The device complies with GB4793.1 safety requirements for electronic measuring instruments and IEC/EN61010-1 safety standards.
- Suitable for testing 12V and 24V car batteries.
- Working voltage range: 8 to 30 volts DC.
- For fully charged batteries, voltage may be slightly higher. Turn on headlights for 2-3 minutes to let voltage stabilize before testing.
- Before use, check test clamp insulation for damage or exposure. Do not operate with the back cover open to prevent electric shock.
- Avoid using or storing the device in harsh environments (high temperature, humidity, flammable, explosive, strong electromagnetic fields).
- Do not alter internal wiring.
- When the car engine is running, keep the device away from the engine or exhaust pipe to prevent heat damage.
Product Icons and Description
Voltage Display: Shows the measured voltage, e.g., "88.8V".
Description: A digital display showing numerical voltage values.
Battery Status: Indicators for "HIGH", "MEDIUM", or "LOW" battery charge levels.
Description: Three battery icons representing charge levels.
Recommendation: Displays "BATTERY GOOD" or "RECOMMEND TO CHARGE OR REPLACE".
Description: An icon showing a battery with a question mark and accompanying text.
Test Clamps: Red test clamp for positive battery terminal, Black test clamp for negative battery terminal.
Function Instructions
The voltage detector operates in two modes: 12V and 24V. Upon powering on, it automatically identifies the battery voltage type and displays the measured voltage and battery status on the LCD screen.
Example Display of 12V Battery:
- Scenario 1: Voltage "12.1V", Status "HIGH", "BATTERY GOOD".
- Scenario 2: Voltage "10.4V", Status "LOW", "RECOMMEND TO CHARGE OR REPLACE".
- Scenario 3: Voltage "11.5V", Status "MEDIUM", "BATTERY GOOD".
Example Display of 24V Battery:
- Scenario 1: Voltage "20.3V", Status "LOW", "RECOMMEND TO CHARGE OR REPLACE".
- Scenario 2: Voltage "22.7V", Status "MEDIUM", "BATTERY GOOD".
- Scenario 3: Voltage "23.9V", Status "HIGH", "BATTERY GOOD".
Installation Instruction
Ensure the car battery is in normal condition before installation.
- Connect the red clamp to the positive battery terminal and the black clamp to the negative terminal.
- The device automatically detects and identifies the 12V or 24V battery voltage type, displaying the voltage and status on the LCD.
Testing Process:
After power-on, a buzzer sounds once [Buzzer Beep]. The device automatically detects the 12V/24V battery and displays it. Indicator lamps cycle three times as voltage is detected and battery status is judged. Upon completion, the buzzer sounds again [Buzzer Beep], and the LCD shows the final voltage and status.
Precautions:
- If voltage reading is >15.0V (24V system: >30.0V), check the voltage regulator.
- If voltage reading is <13.3V (24V system: <26.6V), check connections, wires, and generators.
- If voltage reading is <12.8V (24V system: <25.6V), check the generator belt for wear and for any short circuits in wires.
Further Precautions:
- Engine starting performance varies with temperature; it's poorer at low temperatures.
- The product's diagnosis is based on vehicle starting characteristics, which may differ from other testers.
- Using external power or booster cables for starting may affect engine starting performance display.
- Starting a manual vehicle in gear without the clutch may affect engine starting performance display.
Indicator Behavior:
- Low voltage detected: Buzzer beeps five times, waits 3 seconds, then cycles; "CHARGE" or "REPLACE" icon lights up.
- Medium or high voltage detected: "BATTERY GOOD" icon lights up.
Maintenance and Inspection
- Cleaning the Unit:
- Wet a cloth with water, wring it out, and wipe away dirt.
- Do not use a dry cloth or materials that generate static electricity.
- Do not use volatile oils (petroleum), thinners, gasoline, or other organic solvents for cleaning.
- Connector Inspection:
- Ensure test clamps are securely connected.
- If loose, reconnect and fix the test clamps.
Parameter Table
Battery Type | Low Voltage | Medium Voltage | High Voltage |
