1. Product Summary
1.1 Product Profile
The AUTOOL BT760 battery tester utilizes advanced conductance testing technology and features a built-in printer. It can quickly and accurately measure the actual cold starting current of automobile and motorcycle batteries, assess battery health, and detect common failures in starting and charging systems. This makes it convenient for rapid maintenance of cars and motorcycles.
Key Features:
- Tests automotive and motor batteries, including battery test, cranking test, charging test, and maximum load test.
- Tests all automotive cranking lead-acid batteries, including ordinary lead-acid, AGM flat plate, AGM spiral, and Gel batteries.
- Directly detects bad battery cells.
- Features polarity reverse connection protection, preventing damage to the tester or vehicle/battery from incorrect connection.
- Allows direct testing of batteries with low charge, eliminating the need for full charging beforehand.
- Supports major global battery testing standards: CCA, JIS, DIN, IEC, EN, SAE, GB.
- Supports multiple languages, with options for English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, and other customized language versions.
2. Product Function
- Battery Test: Analyzes battery health status, calculates cold cranking capability, and assesses aging extent, providing reliable data for maintenance. It alerts the user to replace aging batteries.
- Cranking Test: Tests and analyzes the starting motor by measuring the required cranking current and voltage to determine if the motor is functioning correctly. Abnormalities can be caused by lubrication system faults or rotor friction.
- Charging Test: Checks and analyzes the charging system, including the generator, rectifier, and rectifier diodes, to ensure normal output voltage, rectifier diode function, and charging current. Issues in these components can lead to overcharging or incomplete charging, damaging the battery and reducing the lifespan of electrical appliances.
- Load Test: Tests battery packs, DC power supplies, and UPS backup batteries for maintenance and capacity detection.
Additional functions include language setting, voltmeter, and screen brightness adjustment.
3. Technical Parameters

4. Working Steps
Applicable for automotive manufacturers, maintenance and repair workshops, battery factories, distributors, and educational organizations.
4.1 Pre-test
4.1.1 Connect Tester
Shake the clamps back and forth to ensure a good connection with the battery poles. The tester requires both clamps to be well connected for the test to proceed. Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal and the black clamp to the negative terminal. The tester display will then show the starting interface. If the measured battery voltage is lower than 6.0V, a normal test cannot be performed; press OK to continue.
4.1.2 Key Description
The tester features several buttons for navigation and operation:
- Directional Keys (2, 7, 4, 6): Up, Down, Left, Right keys for selecting options via the white UP and DOWN keys.
- Return Key (1): Returns to the previous menu.
- OK Key (5): Confirms selections using the green OK key.
- Print Key (3): Initiates printing.
Diagram Description: A circular control panel diagram shows the tester's buttons: 1 (Return), 2 (Up), 3 (Print), 4 (Left), 5 (OK), 6 (Right), 7 (Down).
4.2 Start Tester
Follow the tester's prompts. Press the up and down keys to select tests in the following sequence: Battery system test, Starting system test, Charging system test, Load test, Language setting, Help.
Diagram Description: The main menu displays icons for Battery Test, Cranking Test, Charging Test, Load Test, Languages, and Help.
4.3 Select Language
Use the UP/DOWN keys to select the desired language from the list, which includes English, French, German, Spanish, and others.
Diagram Description: The "Language Selection" screen lists options such as 1. English, 2. Português, 3. España, 4. French, 5. Deutschland, 6. Italien, 7. Russia, 8. Thai (ไทย), 9. Japanese (日本語), 10. Turkiye.
4.4 Battery Test
- After entering the battery test program, select the battery type from the displayed options.
- After choosing the correct battery type, the tester will display the relevant content.
- Press the OK key to start the test.
Diagram Description: The "Battery Species" screen shows "Set" with a value like "450 A (CCA)" and a prompt "Press <OK> To Start". A "Testing..... Please Wait!" screen is shown during the test. The "Battery Test" results screen displays "Voltage: 12.19 V", "Current: 507 A(CCA)", "Resistance: 5.34 mΩ", "Batt. Energy: 31%", "Life: 100%", "Result: Good", and a "PRINT" button.
Notes:
- If the battery voltage is lower than the normal test voltage, the test result may display "Charge Retest". Charge the battery before retesting.
- If the battery voltage is too high or the vehicle is running, the test may not perform correctly. The prompt "The voltage is too high, please stop the fire! Turn on the headlights for 3 minutes before measuring" may appear.
- For batteries with deep discharge (e.g., due to prolonged vehicle inactivity, uncharged state, or forgotten lights/doors), the tester might prompt "Please replace the battery". In such cases, consult the battery manufacturer and follow their charging and restoring methods.
4.5 Starter System Test
After the battery test, use the up and down keys to select the starter system test and press the OK key to enter the test state.
Diagram Description: The "Starter System Test" screens show "Current voltage" and "Minimum voltage" readings, along with prompts like ">> Please start the engine and wait 15 seconds." or "Start 8 s".
4.6 Charging Test
From the main menu, select the charging system test using the up and down keys, then press OK. Start the engine. After stable operation, press OK to display the test status.
Diagram Description: A prompt screen shows ">>Please turn on all electric.", ">>Please start the engine and wait 15 seconds", "Press <OK> to continue!". The "Maximum Load Testing" screen shows "Current voltage: 14.06 V", "Minimum voltage: ON 14.09 V", "Min Value > 12.8V", "5 s".
Notes:
- Do not shut down the engine during the test. Turn off other electrical equipment to ensure test accuracy.
- Battery voltage varies with engine operating conditions. Under normal conditions, charging voltage should be between 13.3V and 15.0V.
- Charging voltage is too low: Indicates insufficient charging system voltage. Check the generator drive belt for slippage or disconnection and the line connection between the generator and battery. Consult vehicle manufacturer recommendations for generator faults.
- Charging voltage is too high: Indicates excessive generator output voltage. Replace the generator assembly if it uses a built-in regulator, or the regulator directly if external. High voltage (above 14.7V for automotive regulators) can overcharge the battery, shortening its life and causing malfunction.
4.7 Maximum Load Test
In the main menu, select the load test and press OK. Start the engine, wait for stable operation, then press OK to display the test status.
Diagram Description: The "Maximum Load Testing" screen prompts the user to "Please turn on all electric." and "Please start the engine and wait 15 seconds", then "Press <OK> to continue!". It also shows current and minimum voltage readings.
When all electrical appliances are on, normal generator capacity should maintain charging voltage above 12.8V. Lower voltage may indicate insufficient generator output, reduced generating power, excessive load, or leakage. Artificially increasing electrical load will also decrease voltage.
5. Printing Data
5.1 Battery Test Printing
After completing a battery system test, a "print" option is available. Press the "select Print function" shortcut key to start the tester's printer and display the test results on paper.
Results for start test, charge test, and maximum load test are printed similarly to battery test results.
Note: To print all four data items simultaneously, do not tear off the printing paper until all items are printed.
