3.0 Installing the Inverter
3.1 Before installing the inverter ensure that the battery is properly installed. Refer to the Battery Quick Installation Manual or Safety and Installation Instructions.
3.2 Installing the Inverter
- Install the base of the inverter: Secure the mounting components using screws (2.5Nm torque).
- Lock right screws: Secure the right side mounting screws (2.5Nm torque).
- Lock left screws: Secure the left side mounting screws (2.5Nm torque).
4.0 Electrical Connections
4.1 Installing the PE cable
Connect the PE cable using an M5 terminal lug and M5 x 12mm PH2 head screw (2.5Nm torque). Ensure the protective conductor is properly connected.
Warning: The maximum allowable grid circuit breaker specification is 40A. The cross-section of the copper conductor for grid connection must be 6mm² (or 8mm² in some countries). Incorrect settings may increase the risk of the circuit breaker tripping.
4.2 Connecting the Grid Power Cable
- Prepare the three-core outdoor copper cable (6-8 mm²). Strip approximately 60mm for L and N, and 65mm for PE.
- Assemble the locking cap, threaded sleeve, and swivel nut.
- Align the AC connector and plug it into the jack, screwing it tight.
- Insert the crimped conductors (L, N, PE) into the corresponding terminals and tighten screws (1.2 ± 0.1 N·m torque).
- Ensure the connector is correctly installed.
4.3 Connecting the AC Backup Power Cable
- Prepare the three-core outdoor copper cable (4-6 mm²). Strip approximately 10-12mm for L and N, and 7-8mm for PE.
- Assemble the locking cap, threaded sleeve, and swivel nut.
- Insert the crimped conductors (L, N, PE) into the corresponding terminals and tighten screws (1.5 ± 0.1 N·m torque).
- Plug the connector into the socket and tighten firmly.
- Ensure the connector is correctly installed.
4.4 Connecting the BAT Power Cable
- Switch OFF the battery breaker located on the right side of the battery.
- Connect the BAT - wire (Black) first, then the BAT + wire (Red).
- Ensure the cables are securely installed by pulling outwards.
- DANGER: Risk of electric shock and massive energy release due to short-circuiting the battery. Switch off the battery breaker. Connect both ends of one battery power cable completely before connecting the next power cable to avoid short-circuiting.
4.5 Connecting the PV Power Cable
- Strip the insulation of the PV1-F/UL-ZKLA/USE2 cable to 7mm.
- Assemble the MC4 cable ends using crimping pliers (2.6-2.9 N·m torque). Ensure correct polarity.
- Assemble the connectors, ensuring positive and negative terminals are correctly matched.
- Check the polarities of the PV strings and ensure the open-circuit voltage is less than 580V.
- Remove the waterproof caps from the PV connectors.
- Insert the connectors into the terminals until an audible click is heard. Seal any unused terminals with a cap.
5.0 Communication Connection
5.1 Wi-Fi module Connection
Connect the Wi-Fi module using the provided cable and PH2 x 150mm screwdriver (1.6Nm torque).
5.2 AUX / LAN/PV-CT Meter/DRM/GRID-CT Meter/RS485/BMS Connection
Connect communication cables to the appropriate ports using a PH2 x 150mm screwdriver (1.6Nm torque).
5.3 Wiring the Communication Cables between Inverter and Battery (EMS)
Refer to the diagram for specific wiring configurations for BMS, RS485, PV_CT, DRM, AUX, and GRID_CT/METER connections using RJ45 plugs.
6.0 Install top cover
- Place the top cover onto the inverter.
- Secure the top cover using screws (1.6Nm torque).
- Ensure all wiring is secure and the system is working properly before installing plastic parts.
7.0 Commissioning
To set up the inverter as part of a SunPower Reserve installation, follow the commissioning steps outlined in the Reserve Safety and Installation Instructions.
8.0 Power ON / OFF the Product Procedure
Power ON procedure:
- Switch on the battery breaker(s).
- Switch on the battery breaker on the left side of the inverter.
- Press the battery button (if multiple batteries, press each within 5s).
- Switch on the breaker between the grid port and the grid.
- Switch on the AC breaker between the backup port and the loads.
- Switch on the PV switch on the left side of the inverter.
- Switch on the PV switch between the external PV-inverter and the grid (if applicable).
Power OFF procedure:
- Switch off the AC breaker between the backup port and the loads.
- Switch off the PV switch on the left side of the inverter.
- Switch off the PV switch between the external PV-inverter and the grid (if applicable).
- Long press the power button of the battery pack for 6 seconds, then switch off the battery breaker.
- Switch off the battery breaker on the left side of the inverter.
- Switch off the AC breaker between the grid port and the grid.
Warning: Ensure a reliable and correct installation and electrical connection before powering on.
9.0 Installing the plastic part
- Install the snap of the plastic part onto the upper cover.
- Install the three snaps of the plastic parts into the corresponding holes.
- Insert the locating pin into the holes.
