- H: AMD mounting bars
- I: Thermal paste tube
- J: Screws (for AMD)
- K: Backplate (for Intel)
02. Initial Assembly (Intel & AMD)
Attach the fan to the heatsink tower. An arrow indicates the direction of rotation for fan installation.
The fan is secured to the heatsink tower. Ensure the fan is oriented to push air through the heatsink fins.
03. Thermal Paste Application & Heatsink Placement (Intel & AMD)
Prepare the CPU and heatsink for mounting.
Action: Apply thermal paste from the syringe (I) onto the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS). Important: Carefully peel off the protective sticker from the base of the heatsink tower before proceeding. Lower the heatsink onto the CPU, aligning it with the mounting points.
04. Intel Socket Compatibility
Select the appropriate mounting hardware for your Intel CPU socket.
This step illustrates the different mounting configurations for Intel sockets:
- LGA 775: Indicates specific bracket usage.
- LGA 115x (e.g., 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156): Indicates specific bracket usage.
- LGA 2011 / 2011-v3 / 1366: Indicates specific bracket usage.
A checkmark ✔️ denotes correct usage, while a cross ❌ denotes incorrect usage for certain configurations.
05. Intel LGA 1366/1150/1156/1155/1151/775 Installation - Backplate & Standoffs
Prepare the motherboard for heatsink mounting.
Place the backplate (K) behind the motherboard. Screw the standoffs (D) into the motherboard from the front, aligning with the CPU socket mounting holes. Position the Intel retention bracket (B) over the standoffs.
06. Intel LGA 1366/1150/1156/1155/1151/775 Installation - Securing Heatsink
Attach the heatsink to the motherboard.
Lower the heatsink onto the CPU. Insert screws (G) through the retention bracket (B) and into the standoffs (D). Use a screwdriver ? to tighten the screws, following the numbered sequence (1, 2, 3, 4) for even pressure.
07. Intel LGA 1366/1150/1156/1155/1151/775 Installation - Final Tightening
Secure the heatsink mounting mechanism.
The diagram shows the final tightening of the heatsink retention brackets. Arrows indicate the direction to turn the screws (numbered 1, 2, 3, 4) to secure the cooler firmly.
08. Intel LGA 2011/2011-v3 Installation
Specific mounting procedure for LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-v3 sockets.
For LGA 2011/2011-v3 sockets, the heatsink is mounted directly using screws that thread into the motherboard's pre-installed mounting points. Arrows indicate the tightening direction.
09. AMD Socket Compatibility
Identify compatible AMD mounting hardware and fan clip orientations.
The AMD mounting bracket assembly (C) is compatible with the following sockets: FM2+/FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2. The diagram shows different fan clip orientations, with checkmarks ✔️ indicating correct placement and crosses ❌ indicating incorrect placement.
10. AMD Installation - Mounting Hardware
Install the AMD mounting bars and retention clip.
Attach the AMD mounting bars (H) to the motherboard using screws (J). Position the AMD retention clip (C) over the mounting bars.
11. AMD Installation - Securing Heatsink
Attach the heatsink to the AMD motherboard.
Lower the heatsink onto the CPU. Secure it using the provided screws, tightening them evenly.
12. AMD Installation - Final Securing
Ensure the heatsink is firmly attached to the AMD platform.
The diagram shows the heatsink fully secured on the AMD motherboard.
13. Final Heatsink Placement & Airflow
Confirm heatsink installation and understand airflow.
The heatsink is now fully mounted on the CPU. Arrows indicate the intended direction of airflow through the heatsink fins, typically from front to back or bottom to top.
14. Optional Second Fan Installation
Instructions for adding a second fan for enhanced cooling.
Use the provided fan clips (H, I) to attach a second fan to the heatsink. This can improve thermal performance.
15. Airflow with Optional Second Fan
Visualize airflow when two fans are installed.
When two fans are installed, they work together to draw air through the heatsink, maximizing cooling efficiency. The diagram illustrates the combined airflow pattern.
16. Fan Cable Connection
Connect the CPU cooler fan to the motherboard.
Plug the CPU cooler fan's cable into the designated CPU fan header (typically a 4-pin connector) on the motherboard. This ensures the fan receives power and speed control signals.
