Washing Hints
- Do NOT overload the machine. Weigh laundry to determine correct load size.
- Average weights of common items: Sheet (700-1000g), Pillow case (100-200g), Tablecloth (400-500g), Serviette (50-100g), Tea towel (70-120g), Linen hand towel (100-150g), Towelling hand towel (150-250g), Towelling bath towel (700-1000g), Bath robe (1000-1500g), Man's shirt (200-300g), Apron (150-200g).
- Load laundry loosely, alternating large and small items.
- Sort laundry by fabric type, colour-fastness, and dirt level.
- Avoid washing unhemmed or torn items as they may unravel.
- Empty pockets of small objects (coins, keys, screws) to prevent damage to the drain pump.
- Remove hooks from curtains before washing.
- Close poppers and zips, fasten loose buttons.
- Wash new coloured items separately for the first time.
- When washing fabrics requiring different temperatures, select the lowest temperature.
- Do not wash white and coloured items together.
- Wash very small items (handkerchiefs, socks) in a washing bag or pillow case.
- Use a good quality detergent suitable for automatic washing machines.
- Use correct detergent quantities; for wool, use gentle detergent in small amounts.
- Bleach is corrosive; use with care and keep out of reach of children.
- Treat stubborn stains (fruit, wine, grass, rust) with specific products before washing. Pre-soaking may help.
- Only wash 'Pure New Wool - washable, preshrunk' items in the wool programme; other wools require the 'Hand Wash' programme.
- If non-colour fast garments were washed, run a rinse and spin programme without laundry to remove any residual dye from the sump.

Maintenance and Cleaning
DISCONNECT THE APPLIANCE FROM THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE OR CLEANING.
- Descaling: Periodically use a water softening powder according to manufacturer's instructions to prevent lime deposits.
- After each wash: Leave the door open for a while to prevent mould and smells. This also helps preserve the door seal.
- Maintenance Wash: To prevent residue build-up from low-temperature washes, run an empty maintenance wash with the hottest cotton programme and a normal measure of powder detergent.
- External cleaning: Clean the exterior cabinet with soap and water, then dry thoroughly.
- Cleaning the dispenser drawer: Remove the drawer by pressing the catch downwards. Flush it under a tap to remove powder residue. The top part of the additive compartment can be removed for easier cleaning.
- Cleaning the drawer recess: Use a small brush to clean the recess after removing the drawer. Replace the drawer and run a rinse programme without clothes.
- Cleaning the pump: Inspect the pump if the machine does not empty/spin or makes unusual draining noises.
- Disconnect the appliance. Wait for water to cool if necessary.
- Open the pump door. Place a container to collect spillage.
- Pull out the emergency emptying hose, place its end in the container, and remove its cap.
- When no more water comes out, unscrew the pump cover and remove it. Dry up spillage.
- Remove any objects from the pump impeller by rotating it.
- Replace the cap on the emergency emptying hose and put it back in its seat.
- Screw the pump cover fully in.
- Close the pump door.
- The dangers of freezing: If exposed to temperatures below 0°C, turn off the water tap, unscrew the inlet hose, and let water drain from the hose and pump via the emergency emptying hose into a bowl. Screw the inlet hose back on. Ensure room temperature is above 0°C before restarting. After draining via the emergency hose, pour 2 litres of water into the detergent drawer and run the drain programme to activate the ECO valve.
- Emergency emptying out: If water is not discharged, pull the plug, close the water tap, wait for cooling if necessary, open the pump door, place a bowl, and use the emergency emptying hose to drain. Repeat until water stops flowing. Clean the pump if needed. Replace the hose and pump cover.
- Cleaning the water inlet filter: If water is hard or contains lime, the filter may clog. Turn off the water tap, unscrew the inlet hose, and clean the filter with a hard bristle brush.
Something Not Working
Many issues can be solved with simple maintenance. Before calling an engineer, check the following:
- Machine does not start: Door not closed (E40), plug not inserted correctly, no power, blown fuse, 'Start/Pause' not pressed, 'Delay start' selected.
- Machine does not fill: Water tap closed (E10), inlet hose filter blocked (E10), inlet hose kinked/squashed (E10), door not closed (E40).
- Machine fills then empties immediately: Drain hose end too low, submerged in water, or no vent. Drain hose kinked/squashed (E20).
- Machine does not empty and/or does not spin: Drain hose kinked/squashed (E20), 'Quiet' option selected, drain pump blocked (E20), 'None' option selected, drainage pipes blocked, 'Soak 30°' programme selected.
- There is water on the floor: Too much/unsuitable detergent (foam), leaks from inlet hose fittings, drain hose damaged/not positioned correctly, emergency emptying hose cap not replaced after filter cleaning.
- Unsatisfactory washing results: Too little/unsuitable detergent, stubborn stains not treated, incorrect programme/temperature selected, too much laundry.
- Machine vibrates when spinning: Internal packing not removed, machine touching wall/furniture, machine not level, load badly distributed, very little laundry.
- The door will not open: Water level too high, machine heating water, drum turning. The door can only be opened when the 'door locked' light is off.
- Spinning starts late or machine does not spin: Electronic balance control may have activated due to uneven load distribution. The machine may redistribute the load. If it persists, redistribute load manually and select spin.
- Machine makes an unusual noise: Modern motors may make different noises, ensuring softer starts and better stability.
- No water is visible in the drum: Modern machines use very little water economically.
If problems persist after checks, contact your local Service Force Centre.

Unpacking
Remove all transit bolts and packing before use. Keep packaging for transport. Unscrew the two rear bottom screws, slide out plastic pins. Lay machine gently on its back, ensuring hoses are not squashed. Set upright, unscrew remaining rear screw, slide out pin. Fill holes with plastic plugs. Remove polystyrene block and plastic bags. Carefully slide out polythene bags. Remove polystyrene base.
Positioning
Install on a flat hard floor, ensuring air circulation and no contact with walls/units. Do not use cardboard/wood under the machine. The appliance is designed for permanent plumbing, but can connect to a tap with the drain discharging into a sink. Ensure inlet hose connector compatibility; adaptors are available. Any plumbing alterations must be done by a qualified person.
Installation on a Suspended Floor
For suspended wooden floors, place a waterproof wood panel (at least 15mm thick) under the appliance, secured to floor beams. Install in a corner if possible for stability.
Water inlet
Connect the supplied hose to a 3/4" tap. Do not use old hoses. Installation must comply with local regulations. A minimum water pressure of 50 kPa (0.5 bar) is required. If connecting from a cold water storage system, ensure a minimum distance of 5.02m (16.5 ft) from the tank. Tighten the ring nut securely.
Water drainage
Connect to a foul drainage system. Methods include:
- Into a drainage standpipe: Form a hook with the supplied "U" piece. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approx. 38mm for an air break. Standpipe height: 60-90cm (23.6"-35.4") above floor level. The drain hose can be extended up to 4 metres.
- Onto a sink outlet spigot: Remove any blanking plug. Push the drain hose onto the spigot, secure with a clip, and form a loop to prevent sink waste entering the machine. The drain hose can be extended up to 4 metres.
Important: Before connecting to new or unused pipework, run off water to flush debris. Ensure the drain hose is correctly positioned on the appliance's back support.
Levelling
Level the machine by adjusting the feet. Feet may be tight but must be level and stable (check diagonally). Accurate levelling prevents vibration and noise. Some vibration is normal, especially on wooden floors. Consult a builder for sprung wooden floors. Place on a solid floor if possible.
Special conditions
If the floor is carpeted or soft, use a rigid support base under the feet to prevent noise, vibration, or displacement. The base should slightly overhang the machine.
Warning: Do NOT place on deep pile carpeting.
Note: Ensure the appliance is accessible for engineers.
In the interest of the environment
Connect to the foul drainage system for sewage treatment. Do not connect to surface water drainage to prevent pollution.
Electrical connection
Electrical work must be done by a qualified person. WARNING: APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. Manufacturer is not liable for failure to observe this safety measure. Ensure supply voltage matches the rating plate (top of open door rim). The appliance has a 13amp plug fitted. Use a 13amp ASTA approved fuse if replacing. If the plug needs replacement, ensure it is disposed of safely. The power cable must be easily accessible.
Wiring: Green/Yellow wire to Earth terminal (E or ≒). Blue wire to Neutral terminal (N or black). Brown wire to Live terminal (L or red). Ensure no stray strands and the cord clamp is secure.
Permanent connection: Requires a double pole switch with a minimum 3mm gap between contacts, suitable for the load, and compliant with regulations. The switch must not break the earth cable.
