Chapin
WARNING
Improper use or failure to follow instructions can result in explosive failure causing serious eye or other injury. For safe use of this product, read and follow all instructions. Do not leave a pressurized sprayer in the hot sun. Heat can cause pressure build-up resulting in possible explosion. Do not store or leave solution in tank after use. Always wear goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and full foot protection when spraying. Never use any tool to remove pump if there is pressure in sprayer. Never stand with face or body over top of tank when pumping or loosening pump to prevent ejecting pump assembly and/or solution from striking and injuring you. Never pressurize sprayer by any means other than the original pump. Do not attempt to modify this sprayer. Replace parts only with manufacturer's original parts. This sprayer is intended for Acetone only. Acetone is extremely flammable. This Acetone sprayer is intended for trained professionals only – Not intended for the retail trade. Instructions
1. Hose to Tank
Make sure the white outlet tube is attached to the hose.
Insert the tube into the tank.
Ensure correct placement of the white outlet tube.
Align the tabs on the safety lock connector with the notches on the tank's outlet flange. Insert tabs into notches to form a secure seal.
Slide the hose nut down to the tank, turn clockwise, and tighten as tightly as possible by hand.
2. Nozzle
Attach the nozzle to the shut-off handle or extension wand.
3. Filter
The filter helps prevent clogging while spraying. It is located on the end of the outlet tube inside the sprayer tank. To clean the filter, remove the discharge assembly from the tank. Ensure the filter is positioned at the bottom of the tank as pictured.
4. Pre-Use Check
- Check the tightness of the hose nut to ensure the hose is securely attached to the tank outlet.
- Inspect the hose for deterioration, cracks, softness, or brittleness. If any of these conditions are found, replace the hose before using. Replace with original manufacturer's parts only.
- Remove the pump (refer to Filling, Pressurizing and Spraying Instructions). Inspect the interior and exterior of the tank for signs of deterioration of the body and bottom. Any sign of deterioration indicates possible tank weakening and could result in explosive bursting under pressure. If any of these signs are found, discard the tank immediately and replace it. Do not attempt to patch leaks, as this could result in serious injury.
- Follow Filling, Pressurizing and Spraying Instructions, but use water only. Pump the plunger 10-20 strokes and inspect for leaks.
- Direct the shut-off away from you and open it to ensure the discharge is not clogged.
- If the unit passes this test, release pressure (see Pressure Releasing Instructions), empty the tank, and proceed with Filling, Pressurizing and Spraying Instructions.
- Inspect all metal parts, including the wand, nozzle, and fittings, for rust, corrosion, and pitting. If any of these conditions are found, replace the affected part with an original manufacturer's part before using.
5. Filling
- Turn the pump handle counterclockwise and remove the pump.
- Prepare the spray solution following all directions and safety warnings on the chemical label.
- Fill the tank to no more than the proper gallon marker. Do NOT overfill to accommodate the pump.
- Check the pump to ensure no grass or dirt is stuck to the barrel. Replace the pump in the tank and tighten securely.
6. Pressurizing and Spraying
Turn the handle clockwise to tighten. Push the handle down, then turn 1/4 turn counterclockwise to release.
Pump until you feel resistance.
Push the handle down, turn 1/4 turn clockwise to lock. Begin spraying. Repump the sprayer as required to maintain spray force.
7. To Release Pressure
With the pump facing away from you, turn the locked handle counterclockwise until air begins to escape. Stop turning the handle when you hear air escaping. Stay away from the sprayer until all air has escaped.
8. Care, Storage and Maintenance
- Follow chemical manufacturer's instructions for cleaning. Rinse thoroughly with the recommended solvent. Follow Filling, Pressurizing and Spraying Instructions, but pump the unit only 8-10 strokes. Be sure that the wand and nozzle are thoroughly rinsed after each use.
- Open the shut-off and allow the recommended solvent to run through the discharge assembly.
- Release pressure (Follow Pressure Release Instructions), remove the pump, and empty the sprayer.
- Store the sprayer tank upside down, with the pump removed, in a warm, dry location.
- Periodically oil the pump by dropping 10-12 drops of light oil down the pump rod through the opening in the cover.
9. Fatigue-Free Spraying
For constant spraying, push down on the shut-off handle and move the grey locking mechanism away from you. To release, squeeze the handle and move the grey locking mechanism back towards you. (Note: Not all models are provided with this feature).
10. Troubleshooting
Tank pressurizes but does not spray.
WARNING: Release pressure in tank before troubleshooting.
Action: Clean shut-off.
- Pull handle straight up.
- Insert notches from the underside of the handle into the plunger grooves and turn counterclockwise.
- Remove plunger. Wash diaphragm in mild dish detergent.
- Tighten plunger clockwise until flush to the top of the shut-off body. Do not overtighten or the unit may not spray. Slide forks under the plunger, push handle down until it snaps into place.
